    War on terrorism?

I can relate to a lot you mention Pukko, but there are some things to consider. The thought that terrorism is mainly an american matter is a false one. Terrorism is ever present in almost every country on this globe even in europe we are not free of terrorists. Many terrorists use europe even as a hiding place. I think that after 9-11 there should be an answer to this menace. Mind you blowing up two of the largest buildings in the US is something different than assassinating someone. An answer had to be formulated. Many people disagree to the way the US is handling the problem but also fail to formulate an alternative way how we should stop this malady. If we still think that we can stop terrorism by denouncing our help to israel and start opening our eyes to the palestinian case we are sorely mistaken. Terrorism has become big business now and is sponsored by some very wealthy people and states. There's no diplomatic way in ending terrorism, or if there is please enlighten me how. We also know that the current war on terrorism will also not stop it. But at least it is an answer to something which was kept long unanswered by the western world. In europe we are still lucky that we didn't have any big terrorist drama, but that doesn't mean that they aren't planned. Last summer english intelligence foiled a plot of algerian terrorists trying to gas the EU members in Brussels. Terrorists will always find some twisted cause to fight for and innoncent citizens will always be the victims of that. I think the war on terrorism was started too late. We know now that some organisations are trying to acquire NBC weapons and some lunatic in japan already used it in the tokyo subway. I realise that it is impossible to stop terrorism but there should be made an effort to make it as hard as possible for these animals to commit their heinous crimes. Yes, there will be future terrorist attacks, but these would also come when there's was no war against terrorism going. I think the topic is very difficult to comment on, but I feel that doing nothing and put confidence in diplomatic options is a station past long time ago. If there's one lesson to be learned out of all this, it must be: Â You can't negotiate with terrorists, never could, never can

I have the idea that some moderators (I mention no names here) are closing threads not just because they're offending, or considered spam but also if they are boring to them. It is called misuse of power.

CIA: A government inside a government.

CNN was one of them who came with the news. http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/19/inv.shelby.criticism/index.html http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101010924/nintelligence.html Come red oct this is old news. It was a common known fact that the CIA trusted too much on sattelites after the coldwar has ended. Read the papers more often . And don't blame me for anti-american thoughts because it were american analysts in the first place who doubted the potency of the CIA.

CIA: A government inside a government.

Directly after 9-11 analysts already commented on the fact that the CIA has lost the fine touch in their trade and the cia operators are getting fat on donuts and decaf while they trust for a full 100% on their sattelites. This is in fact pretty old news, it originates from the days after the cold war where the CIA thought close-in observation of people and gathering military russian military secrets is not so relevant anymore as they thought we could do it now with a sattelite. The idea in itself was pretty defendable by then, remembering how the rockets on cuba where detected. An other problem with the intel offices in the US is that instead of supplementing eachother and sharing important data they rather compete with eachother. These are all just pieces in the puzzle why the US intel offices didn't see 9-11 coming despite being there much clues around. It's all written before also on this forum. Things just happen while they do and I'm sure some lessons will be implemented in the "lesson-learned" programs of those offices. Thinking that these blunders are unique to the US is stupid. In the 70s the dutch intelligence didn't saw it coming that a group of mollucans hijacked a train. And almost kidnapped the queen, it was only known by the dutch intelligence when some mollucan activist got remorse and two days before the act told the police.

    Military Humor

Ok, another one to get this thread going again Burning garbage, the stupid way When we had our camp in the hills of Mt. Igman in Bosnia we had to dispose of our garbage. So we saved everything for a week and then torched it with some gasoline. There seem to be always some people (potential pyromaniacs) who have the idea that everything can be done quicker and more efficient. So we also had a guy in my unit who thought the same. One day my mate was appointed to burn the garbage. So he threw some gasoline over it and lighted it. Everything went well. He was poking with a little stick in the fire (you know how little children get when they are around a controlled fire) and was generally having a good time. Then a sergeant came along and thought that everything could go a lot quicker when you thought more efficient. A second after I took the picture I was running for the fire extinghuiser to put out my mate's trousers. Luckily it ended with only some minor burns to the leg. But if you see where my mate had his face when the gulp of gasoline was applied to the fire you could imagine that it could end a hell lot worse. I rapported the sergeant to my CO for negliance and he was fined and reprimanded. Note the gulp of gasoline coming from the jerrycan and the position were my mate has his face. Unbelievable how stupid people can get

    Russian vs. American

It's not only US vs. Russia which sparked this unsporty attitude with the spectators. I once witnessed a hockey game between the czech republic and russia in prague. I tell you that was a hell more unfriendly than US vs. Russia ever could get. It was a little like soccer The Netherlands vs. Germany happening. I think this picture says it all

LIBYA, CHINA, SYRIA FORM AXIS OF JUST AS EVIL

European politicians are embarrased by the speech held by bush which was described as having elements brinking on absolutic and simplistic foreign policy. European countries are mainly frustrated because Bush destroys a lot of fragile diplomatic ties european countries established over the years with these countries. EU external affairs commissioner Chris Patten said in an interview with Britain's Guardian newspaper that European governments should speak up before the US went into "unilateralist overdrive". Mr Patten said President Bush's characterisation of Iran, Iraq and North Korea as an "axis of evil" was "unhelpful", adding, "I find it hard to believe that's a thought-through policy".

M60 GPMG soon history in US armed forces

I've posted this thread a couple of months ago for the first time. But most of the US Armed Forces "know it alls" on this forum dismissed it as nonsense. So I'll post it again. The US armed forces finally came to the conclusion that the FN-MAG is a far superior GPMG than the M60 ever could be. It's much more accurate and much much more reliable, sad only that it took the US so long to find that out (dutch forces are using fn-mag since the late 70s). So now all the M60s are being phased out slowly and replaced by the M240 (fn-mag). Starting with all the special forces and the USMC. For some more critical observers (like myself) you undoubtly would noticed that the US armed forces took no M60s to afghanistan but M240s. This is the end of the M60 era. I shot the fn-mag and M60 extensively during my service time and back then I already couldn't imagine why the professional US armed forces would use a piece of junk like the M60s (only comment on my last statement if you actually shot both weapons extensively and know what you're talking about) http://www.hqmc.usmc.mil/factfil....ocument US marine of the 15th expeditionary unit in afghanistan

    Toilet Wisdom

We spend on average a year of our lives on the toilet. The chinese claim they've invented the watercloset between 206BC and 24 Newton and Mozart wiped their butts with straw and hay. King Louis XIV of France used velvet pieces of cloth. Toiletpaper was invented in 1857 in the US In japan you get fined a 100 dollars if you don't flush a public toilet after you've used it. In comparison to the other european countries the dutch use the most 'moisted toilet paper' Especially women (97%) and kids (78%) make use of moisted toilet paper. A orange spiced with clove supresses your excrements odors better then some chemical spray can. Feel free to add some more toilet wisdom.
