OA 1.59 - Frequent CTD - NVIDIA nvlddmkm error
domokun replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Try changing AToC in your config file to from "1" to "0" Personally I'd recommend: video resolution=1680x1050 visibility=2000m (higher if your framerates are good enough) texture detail=High vid mem=Default AF=High AA=Normal terrain detail=Normal object detail=Normal shadows=High HDR=High PP=Low vsync=On -
Günter: I know that by default the mission has 9 caches. I also understand the logic behind their location (though I've never found one!). I just wanted to know where I could lower this number. Is there a config file that needs editing?

oktNoBlur - Signed Blur Remover Addon
domokun replied to oktane's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yesterday BI released the 1.59 patch for OA. So today I checked your site hoping to pick-up the noblur version for this patch http://www.506th-pir.org/scripts/oktane/noblur/ But I couldn't find it there. Am I missing something? Hope you're not victim of another HDD failure... -
ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead & Reinforcements, version 1.59 - Patch released

Try disabling AA. -
Fireball: thanks for the update. Much appreciated. Having played Insurgency now for almost 10 hours I've got 2 questions: a) Is it possible to edit the mission so that empty slots will be populated by AI? If so, how? b) Also is it possible to modify the number of weapon caches? The reason I'm asking as with only 4, it takes us hours to make any headway. In fact we've yet to find a single cache!

domokun replied to Sa80's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
When did I say you should prefer I smaller PSU over a larger one? I was simply stating that given his PC, planned upgrades and budget he prolly doesn't need to upgrade. You need to consider the BIG picture, not a single issue. Sa80 has already explained that he doesn't know his PSUs make. 450W is fine for most people. I think that 450W will be fine given that Sa80 prolly only has 1 hdd, 1 mid-range GPU and 1 mid-range CPU (no i7) Apart from top-end models, most mid-range and low-end GPUs draw no more power than 5 years ago. -
Try Wolfrug. After his DSAI pack.

ASC - Customizable Weapon Addon
domokun replied to Lester's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Am I right in thinking that this only works with ASC weapon crates? i.e. unless the mission has been edited to included these ASC crates then players will not be able to benefit from these weapon customisations? -

RH Mk18 pack 1.1 for OA / CO
domokun replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Does anyone have a replacement addon for this Mk18? Because I did find one here (Lao Fei Mao's RH Mk18 Pack) but it doesn't seem to work. My guess is that it worked with v1.0 but stopped working when the pack was updated to v1.11. -
Bologna is a corruption of Baloney which through rhyming slang is associated with the word phoney, i.e. in slang baloney describes something which is fake. IIRC its use in this form originates from east-coast American slang (NY mob?).

[Crossfire problem] ARMA 2 OA Texture LOD/Low FPS/Massive stutter
domokun replied to RobertJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
How about YOU treat people with a bit of respect. Just because you don't get a reply within hours you're off throwing your toys out the pram. While the game was far from perfect on release, it was also far from awful - you only have to look further than your bigoted opinion: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/arma-ii How many games do you know where the devs reply to users within a day or two? Your comments suggest a deep ignorance of software development, as well as basic manners. -
Seems like your sarcasm has blinded you to the fact that Myke never suggested the game is perfect and to the fact that OFP/ARMA series have always been known for their sandbox environments rather than their competitors' railroad limitations. Such open environments are MUCH more ambitious than scripted sequences so inevitably they will be buggier. But in case your impaired vision hadn't noticed, BIS also offers unparalleled support of their products. Look no further than Dragon Sinking.

Brilliant! Really looking forward to this as I really miss it when compared with A2.

Multi-Session Operations v3.3 is released!

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but is this amazing persistency limited to your sample missions or can it be integrated to other missions, e.g. Insurgency? -
Jungle Wars: Island of Lingor
domokun replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Icebreaker: I've been dying to try Lingor and now that Lightspeed has just re-released his GR campaign I think it's the perfect opportunity. However I seem to remember you saying that you're working on some bug fixes for Lingor. Do you have a rough timeline (days? weeks? months?) on the release date for those bugfixes? Don't take it the wrong way, I too became a father only a couple of months ago so I understand the pressures (nappies, sleepless nights, etc.) -
Which version was that? Were you playing as the team leader? Also although I've found IEDs on lots of OPFOR, I've never seen them detonate them against us. Is that normal? Or have we just been lucky? On reflection I have a few suggestions for Fireball: a) Is it possible to have AI populate the empty slots on your side? b) Could you take out OPFOR armor, only put in technicals with machine guns (realism) c) Add a civilian module with civi vehicles + a penalty to BLUFOR for killing civilians > adds ROE to the mission
-
Thanks for all the replies. Yet I still have a couple more questions: a) Is the squad leader the only person able to call in CAS? b) If so, then how then how do other squad members laze a target so the A10 can toss its Paveways? Reason being that on our first attempt, I played squad leader and when I called in CAS I was amazed to find myself at the controls of the A10. However I was pretty frustrated to discover that none of my teams mates had a laser-designator. When I re-spawned as a squad leader immediately pulled my binocs only to discover than apart from a compass and range finder, it didn't seem to offer any laser designation. Which left me wondering, but how... ?

Fireball: just wanted to say a HUGE thank you/merci/gracias/arigato/spasibo/danke schön. Last night a few guys and I spent almost 3 hours on this mission as BLUFOR and we've never had so much fun. It was AWESOME. That said I have a few questions: 1) How do you find the caches? Because despite 4 briefcases (550m, 450m, 400m & 350m) we never found one! Are they always stored in houses? What about ruins? Or sangins? 2) How many insurgents do you need to kill to get a briefcase? 3) How does the gear selection work whilst you're waiting to re-spawn? 4) Once you've secured a zone, does this mean OPFOR stop respawning there? If so, can they re-take it? 5) How do you re-deploy your MHQ ? 6) Someone mentioned civilians, I don't think we saw any. Is this an option to be activated somewhere? Is it true that they can be interrogated? 7) Does the use of Zeus AI mod bugger up the mission? It might explain our inability to find the caches...

Love the sound of this mission (based off reputable sources) but my squad don't run ACE (:o I know). So any chance of a ACE-free version? We do have BAF though :D

domokun replied to Sa80's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Guys I think that you over estimate the power requirements and underestimate the quality of PSUs in today's PCs (whose efficiency is MUCH higher than before). My advice to Sa80 (who is on a budget) is replace your components and then see how it goes with your current PSU. If indeed you experience stability issues while under load, then go ahead and drop an extra £50 but I really think that its a discretionary purpose. I've been building PCs for 15 years now and I've never encountered a situation where instability was caused by a bad PSU. The big bad PSUs that have appeared these last few years are aimed at the so called "enthusiast" or "gamer" market, mainly young males with more money that sense. Bright colours, chrome, big stickers, etc. Makes me sound like an old fart now doesn't it ;) If you're serious about PSU check-out this website. -

domokun replied to Sa80's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Fair enough can't argue with that ;) Maybe you didn't optimise your OS and/or tweak your settings. Good article. That's precisely why I recommended a Phenom II X4. Sure but an i7 is expensive and Sa80 (like many of us) isn't loaded. I bet it looks REALLY good. 5770 runs MUCH cooler than a 4870. 460 costs 50% more than a 5770. 460 offers 30-40% more FPS than a 5770 Since you like [H]OCP (I don't), then check-out this 460 review which includes an A2 benchmark. I agree that an i7-920/460 combo would beat Px4-640/5770 but its also a matter of cost.
