  1. While I admire your artistic integrity, I think it's fair to say that, over the past few years, CUP and RHS have become standards in this community thanks to their unwavering commitment to quality, realism and breadth. So keep things simple for yourselves. Also, any chance that we might see some Swedish voice acting?
  2. @oldy41 IMHO the behaviour you described is one of Arma's biggest flaws, i.e. the instant sharing of battlefield intelligence among AI units. So it would be great if a mod added a coefficient or slider that allowed users to change the speed at which intelligence is shared among AI units. For example, if a unit doesn't have a radio then their ability to share information should be limited to the range a which they can whisper (<10m), talk (10-30m) or shout (200m). Even with a radio, units should take several minutes to share information and even then, range of information sharing should be limited by radio size, e.g. handheld = 1-2km, manpack = 8-15km & vehicle = 25-50km. This is particularly important in scenarios where radios are limited or non-existent, e.g. in WW2 most infantry had no radios except for officers. In the early war, 2-ways radios were often limited to battalion level due to high costs, weight and reliability. In fact, most vehicles, even tanks and few or no radios at this stage And it wasn't until late war that radios appeared regularly at company level. Again even, if a unit has a radio, the ability to share information should be slowed as only the radio operator can receive or transmit the info. I really think that a mod that simulated this organic sharing of information would have a considerable and positive impact on gameplay. Imagine searching for and targeting the radio operator! Imagine nearby troops trying to recover the radio once an operator had been killed...
  3. You're right and I stand corrected. You can OC RAM on Z- boards but you certainly can't OC your non-K on Z- boards which is where you'll likely find the highest gains. BTW what voltage are you running your 6700k at 4.4? I've got mine running at 4.6 but it took 1.36V which is a little high for my liking.
  4. Good god that looks incredible. What config is your PC? I checked your YT video but found no description

    AI Driving - Feedback topic

If these script commands are effective in reducing or even eliminating convoy congestion and/or accidents, how feasible would it be to convert this script into an auto-executing mod that is triggered whenever the AI tries to drive somewhere?

    Is "old man" dead ?

Splendidly, provided you sunk a few hours into configuring and testing the parameters. Though, like many wide-ranging mods, it had a tendency to heavily skew mission design, sometimes irrevocably...

    Is "old man" dead ?

SLX also worked in A2 so my guess is that you're already looking at spaghetti with chopsticks levels of AI code
  9. Because it's been replaced by the rather awesome CUP mod: http://cup-arma3.org/
  10. How fast is it? And which Tiger? Because it really depended on the model and engine speed. Tiger I "A full rotation took about a minute." "Of all the vehicles in Post Scriptum the Tiger E has the slowest reload speed of 10 seconds. It also has the slowest turret rotation speed, taking a full minute to turn the gun 360 degrees." Tiger II "The turret could be rotated 360 degrees at 6º/second in low gear independent of engine rpm, at 19º/second — the same as with the Tiger I — with the high speed setting and engine at 2000 rpm, and over 36º/second at the maximum allowable engine speed of 3000 rpm"
  11. Same here. 10,000 words left of my dissertation with 3 weeks to... So fingers crossed for tonight's game
  12. Willingness to pay for a product/service is indeed a key factor in purchasing decisions but so are alternatives. If you can get more for less then a product/service will be considered expensive by rational consumers. However you raise an often under-estimated aspect, brand loyalty for whom loyalty to a brand counts more than any financial logic.
  13. Official pricing shows that Intel sold K series CPU 10-20% higher than non-K equivalents for the past 8 years. So it looks like a no brainer, right? Except you'll realise that your shiny K series CPU is an expensive paperweight unless you cough up extra for a HSF (HSF included with non-K CPUs) and a Z-series motherboard (no overclocking on H-, B-, Q- nor P- series motherboards) Clever strategy, eh? It's called price skimming.
  14. For the past 18 months the E8400 has been considered by many to be the best price-performance CPU for users who can't be bothered with/scared of overclocking. It's a real leader in the most competitive market segment; mid-level gamer/content creator. K processors and Z motherboard are great but expensive, i.e. less attractive on price-performance.
  15. No difference as the i5-8400 doesn't support over 2666. Only Intel K series processors in a Z series motherboard support RAM frequencies over 2666.
  16. These 2 images also put Ryzen performance perspective
  17. I'm getting a whiff of nostalgia BAS Tonal? Far Cry 2? Bush Wars?
  18. Glad you found a solution but beware that many of those start-up parameters are now more trouble than they're worth. This is thanks to improvements in A3's hardware auto-detection routines. TLDR: 99% users should disable start-up parameters, particularly those relative to CPU and GPU
  19. Significantly decrease load times = No (practically impercetible in most cases) Better load time than SSD = Yes Other benefits = Yes, NVME are so slim and usually installed directly onto the motherboard that it MAY offer better cooling through improved airflow (assuming of course you're not watercooling) Conclusion: $12 seems suspiciously small premium to pay between SATA & NVME so check the prices, specs, warranty, etc. But if you're right, I'd say go for the NVME. But be warned a 240 GB will quickly be filled if you install your OS, Arma & mods...

We need Arma 3 on consoles

You yourself said "I am puzzled" so I took the time to try and explain. If that's somehow offended you, OP or anyone else then I think you ought to re-read my post; I think you'll find that were no "assumptions" there. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, rather provide context and let others draw their own conclusions. If you want to share your missions and/or would like some feedback, then check-out the Missions thread.

We need Arma 3 on consoles

Simple explanation: Arma is more than a game for many of us here. Long explanation: Arma is fairly unique because it's a platform that allows users to develop mods that can radically change the game's mechanics, physics, content, appearance, features, AI, etc. Developing these mods isn't easy, requiring months and even years of investment of time, technical expertise, patience and (in some cases) money. Currently none of these modders are paid for their efforts. They simply pour in hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of their own time for free. Why? That's a complex question that deserves a thread unto itself. My point is that Arma has become, for many in this community, more than just a game. It represents the best game bar none in its category. Most acknowledge that it's not perfect but many believe that its uniqueness (despite many attempts to emulate it) deserves such attention. Combine this incredible commitment with a far-reaching question (however innocent it may seem) that could rock the foundations of its developer and/or successor and you have your answer.
  22. Outstanding. I was amazed that you've managed to model the inside of the Crusader. Fingers crossed that you'll one day find the time to extend this level of detail to the other tanks. I also really liked your implementation of dust clouds behind vehicles driving off-road. Incidentally, is the size of the dust cloud proportional to vehicle size and speed? Although I can't wait, take your time squashing those pesky bugs.
  23. Thanks for such a detailed and candid response. Our clan dropped TPWCAS a while back and even ASR_AI after it broke the design of a few missions but we're really enjoying CF_BAI and CF_woodland. BTW what's CF_weapons? I looked on your website and SWS page but found no mention of it.

I love A3 but it goes boring

Sorry but you're mistaken. Since OFP (2001), Arma (2006) and Arma 2 (2009) the series has has clearly focused on "tactical shooter with significant vehicle elements". Still don't believe me? Then look at Arma 3's (2013) DLC strategy: Helicopters (2014), Marksman (2015), Apex (2016), Jets (2016), Laws of War (2017), Tac Ops (2017), Tanks (2018). The core of the game is focus on infantry, with vehicle additions. Did you spot the Marine DLC? Neither did I. Did I wish it had one? I certainly did and still do...

    AF Large Civilian Ship

Congratulations on an incredible first effort. I particularly appreciate your attention to detail, e.g. anchor chain, window curtains, gangplank I jus thope that you get some help in defining the waypoints for AI and textures.
