  1. What benchmarks are these? Because although a fast dual-core like the 4170 @ 3.7 GHz will deliver prolly deliver higher performance than a mid-range quad core like a 4460 @ 3.2 Ghz, your GTX 1070 must be severely bottlenecked by your dual core @ 3.7. So if you're looking for higher performance, replace that 4170 with a 6600k and overclock her as even on air she'll do 4.3 defo, 4.4 easy, 4.5 prolly, 4.6 maybe and 4.7 if you're lucky. However, check your mobo as only Z170 chipsets can overclock K series CPUs.

    FPS Capped at 30

OK now we understand you better. Care to share which parameters worked best for you?
  3. Thanks a million for enriching Arma's already scary battlefield to downright terrifying. It's really amazing to hear echoes from across valleys and deafening blasts when you're indoors. BTW given that these enhancements are calculated in real-time, what's the performance hit?
  4. Thanks and thanks again for also updating the Steam version. Now I'm off to travel 75 years back in time!

Also, what do you mean by "launch code"?
  6. Now that version 2 has been released (thank you VERY much), shouldn't we close this thread?

    SBP X-MAS Special (Arma 3)

Thanks IB I'm downloading as we speak. Though with the disappearance of Steam, but I may be late (I'm on Dev and was hoping to switch to main).

For those who don't use PWS, where can I get Slovenian Armed Forces (SIAF) mod?

Nice one mate. Pz sign me up! I'll warn my mates tomorrow. Is it stable only? 1.66 Or Dev 1.67?

Arma 3 being upgrade to 64 bit

No it isn't. By default Arma 3 runs on the 32-bit platform. To get A3 to run on the 64-bit platform you need to: a) switch from the Main Branch to the Dev Branch (approx 5+ GB download) b) switch from the 32-bit to the 64-bit platform (A3 Launcher > Parameters)

    The Grenade Thread

@daza I'm not arguing with you as I agree that improving grenades seems like a no brainer given tha Arma is supposed to be an infantry simulator. However in the meantime, ACE3 plugs the gap. In fact I think that occassionally BIS may be inspired by mod if they think that it's proven popular and/or well-implemented. But I can't just help thinking that these are basic functions that, like Revive, BIS need to get right from the start, i.e. they seem WAY more important than more cosmetic upgrades like Splendid lighting.
  13. Here's an interesting galley of photos from Nam: http://imgur.com/gallery/BsMj0 That People Sniffer is proof that it was one of the craziest wars ever. BTW other than the in-built missions and those eggbeast's Steam Workshop, can anyone recommend some good COOP missions?

    The Grenade Thread

@daza have you tried the ACE3 mod because the latest version improves grenades considerably, in fact pretty as you describe it. A long-established community member Dsylexi helped develop it and publicised it in a video:
  15. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, a GT640 has a TDP of 50-75W: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_600_series According to Wikipedia, the highest speed GTX 10 with a similar TDP is a GTX 1050 Ti with a TDP of 75W. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_10_series However, I don't think that will offer a significant increase in performance because jumping 1 generation to another without changing product range (entry, mid-range, enthusiastic, high performance). So if you want a significant increase in performance, you'll not only increase by 1 generation but you also need to go up a range, e.g. entry to mid-range. Therefore I'd check your PC's PSU. Provided its 350W or more, a GTX 1060 should be fine even with it's TDP of 120W. To be honest, I'd buy a GTX 1060 from a reputable site (Amazon?), insert it into your PC and then run some stressful benchmarks (3DMark, Furmark & YAAB). If, heaven forbid, our PC crashes then simply send the 1060 back. PS how much RAM and what speed is it?
  16. Is there any chance that anyone from the RHS and/or CUP might be able to help you?

    Combat Patrol

I think that it's great that BI devs create mission frameworks like this. It not only shows that they understand and appreciate what it's like to design missions using their platform but it also recognises the community's contributions. Finally, it injects extra life into this maturing, dare I say, middle-aged platform. What would now be really awesome, would be if someone could develop a unit replacement config that replaced vanilla units with CUP, RHS or IF3 units, i.e. try Combat Patrols but with 1940s, 1980s, 1990s, 2010s or modern units.

    64-bit Executables Feedback

Switch to the Dev branch. The latest release on Dev branch offers both the 32- and 64-bit binaries. You can you choose between the 2 binaries via the Parameters tab of the A3 Launcher.
  19. Try the 64-bit EXE that is available on the Dev branch. 1. Swtich from main to Dev branch (via Steaù) 2. Open A3 Launcher 3. ensure that you have no parameters selected that limit RAM or VRAM 4. select 64-bit platform 5. enjoy smoother A3 experience 6. report back
  20. Good point by old Bear. So junk that 128 GB SSD and go for something MUCH bigger. The reason is that you'll get best performance for Arma 3 if the OS and A3 are stored on the same SSD. If your budget is tight, drop the TIR5 Pro and use that money to upgrade the SSD from 128 to 240+, better 480+ GB. Currently the MX300 from Crucial seems to offer the best value for money.
  21. Replace your GTX 1080 with 1070 so you can (using the 200€ you just saved): 1. upgrade that 16GB DDR4-2133 with DDR4-3000 (+10€) 2. get a decent HSF, e.g. CM Hyper 2112 Evo (+€35) to overclock that 6600k as she'll 4.3 defo, 4.4 easy, 4.5 prolly, 4.6 maybe & 4.7 if you're lucky 3. get a TrackIR 5 Pro (180€)
  22. Yeah you missed the point. Maffa's point is that ships are more suited to Arma's relatively small maps than jets. While I agree that the lack of amphibious troops is a big inconsistency given that most maps have a coastline and many are islands, I'd in fact argue that tanks are for more relevant given that Arma is essentially an infantry simulator with a few aircraft and ships. So all Maffa is raising is the question of priorities, legitimately, politely and articulatedly.
  23. Damn. If I'd known earlier then I'd have joined you. I've only played with the SBP clan a few occasions but it was great fun each time.

thinking of upgrading GPU for arma 3...

There's your problem then. Those benchmarks were run on a 6700k @ 4.5 (13% faster than your stock 6700k), on DDR4-3000 (40% faster than your DDR4-2133) and with Arma on an SSD. So you might want to consider pushing your 6700k as she'll do 4.3 defo, 4.4 easy, 4.5 prolly, 4.6 maybe and 4.7 if you're lucky. No need for watercooling, just a decent HSF like a CM Hyper 212 Evo @ $30/30€. You might also want to push your RAM too. I'm sure she'll 2400, maybe even 2666. Also, if you have space on your SSD, consider moving A3 onto it. Finally, consider moving to the Dev branch where you can test the new 64 bit exe. It won't necessarily increase your framerates but it should keep the more steady as well as shorter load times.

thinking of upgrading GPU for arma 3...

Maybe your configurations aren't comparable, e.g. 1) is your 6700k overclocked? 2) what speed is your DDR4? 3) are Windows & A3 installed on an SSD?
