  1. Hi, I'm really frustrated because I've installed everything as explained in the readme yet in-game message (top-right hand corner) indicates ACRE is not connected is to Arma2. When I check in TS3 GUI I see a message saying "ACRE: Version: 1.4.4" but also "Arma2 Connected: No". How do I solve this problem? I have the correct dll installed in TS3 (acre_win64 installed in C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins). We spent an hour troubleshooting this and tearing our hair out but to no avail. Please help us as the clan hates me for this :-( For example how does ACRE know where my copy of CO is located? Does ACRE need to run on a dedicated server?
  2. @Burdy: have you tried increasing the Quality of AF in Cat Control Centre to High Quality. I have a 7850 (OC to 7870) so my configuration shouldn't be THAT different to your rig.
  3. Good advice from Leon86 Rather than upgrade, try optimising your rig. I use these tried and tested settings: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 As a result, I can run at 1920x1200, with Norm-High visuals and 2.4km VD on 4-year old CPU with 3-year old GPU at acceptable (20-40 fps) framerates.
  4. I beg to differ. There are 3 main causes of "lag" in A2 (reality is that the lag is poor performance and not poor network) which are (in order of priority): 1. View Distance 2. Terrain Detail 3. Post-processing 4. Anti-Aliasing So my advice is lower VD to 1600m, lower Terrain to Normal, disable PP and disable AA. Then keep Video Memory at Default and you should be able to increase 3D resolution to 100% This way the game should still look fairly good but run smoothly. If you find that the game is running well, you can try increasing PP to Low but make sure you run the noBlur mod. Trust me, the settings that I recommend get the game looking good without killing your machine (I run 4-year old CPU + 3-year old GPU) are the result of hours of research & iterative testing.
  5. The missions of the Harvest Red campaign are prolly among the most scripted out there. You are running ACE and ASR AI which are by definition a total conversion and AI mod. Both of these mods have probably a greater impact on gameplay than any other mod. And you're surprised that your AI are reacting in ways which don't seem coherent with the mission? I'm not. For campaigns and other heavily scripted missions, I advise against ACE and, to a lesser extent, ASR AI. The same can be said to other AI-influencing mods such as SLX and Zeus AI. If you want to improve the game but minimise impacts on the mission, I suggest audio and video mods like JSRS and BlastCore WarFX, noBlur, etc.

    ASR AI Skills

KaneSVK: your best bet is to use the latest beta (unless there are reports of instability) and use ASR AI mod I can also recommend the SLX CO mod which was just updated Personally I find that JSRS, BlastCore, WarFX, noBlur, ASR AI & SLX CO are a perfect combination
  7. Unless I'm mistaken, the very latest version of CBA is not yet an official release right?
  8. Burdy: try these tried and tested tips, notably the AtoC one: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 And let us know how you get on...

A question about A2:F and OA

Tom: welcome aboard mate! I'm not sure where you are based but I'm guessing US so here's damage: CO = A2+OA = €25 ($32) via Sprocket* Reinforcements = BAF+PMC = $15 via Amzazon US Arma X Anniversary = CO+Reinforcements+A1+Queens Gambit (A1 expansion)+Operation Flashpoint= €50 ($64) via Sprocket* * Sprocket is Bohemia Interactive's (developer of Arma series) own digital distribution platform which is easier to use than Steam and also ensure that more money goes to the developer as it cuts out the middle man

    Which Version to Buy

Novaline not sure where you are based but I'm guessing US so here's damage: CO = A2+OA = €25 ($32) via Sprocket* Reinforcements = $15 via Amzazon US Arma X Anniversary = CO+Reinforcements+A1+Queens Gambit (A1 expansion)+Operation Flashpoint= €50 ($64) via Sprocket* * Sprocket is Bohemia Interactive's (developer of Arma series) own digital distribution platform which is easier to use than Steam and also ensure that more money goes to the developer as it cuts out the middle man
  11. ahhyeaa: save yourself 3 days and check-out these tried and tested tweaks: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 Good advice from Gunso about mods: try audio (JSRS) and visual (BlastCore WarFX)mods first, before messing with game-balancing and/or AI mods, e.g. ASR AI, ACE Don't get me wrong, I love ASR but it radically changes the game..
  12. Personally I recommend grabbing the Arma Annivesary X. Because it includes, CO (A2+OA) + the BAF and PMC expansion packs. It also includes Arma 1 and their spiritual predecessor which, despite its age (10 years), is still a very good game. Plus there's all kinds of bonus content (Soundtrack CD, large-scale map, etc.) It's €50 on Steam but you can get it from Sprocket (BI's own digital delivery platform) for the same price and it all goes to the developers (rather than distributor). If you're really tight, you can always grab CO for €25 from Sprocket!
  13. Definitely: like my father always says "strive for excellence, not perfection!". Can't wait to try your units this weekend

    Patrol Operations 2

Me too. Especially when I heard that Duala is supported. In fact it might a good idea to add a spoiler in your first post that lists the supported maps.

    Isla Duala

Jedra: thanks for those tips. Kremator's mash-up: I'll try it but experience has shown us that MSO kills our server, maybe it is because we don't have a dedicated server, maybe it's because we don't know which options are CPU-heavy, but we'll give it a try ZoneKiller's BattleZone: we're not to keen on these missions because, unless you have large numbers they're pretty empty, and our clan only numbers 4-6 :-( Roy86's Patrol Ops 2: this sounds MUCH more promising, so we'll be testing this one first, I didn't even realise that Duala was supported (no mention of it on the first post) Really what we like are story-driven missions rather than warfare or random type missions. Sander's missions are a good example.
  16. @RedemptiionZz: try these tried and tested tips to improve your performance: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 Then let us know how you get on...
  17. If this mod works as I think it does (allows AI aware of audio cues triggered by player), then this is a HUGE step forward. It would be SO significant that, I'd beg SaOK to release this script as a pbo so that it could be used in other missions. Would that be possible? Finally, it would be even MORE amazing if this mod could interface with ACRE mod, i.e. if a player yells across his voice comms and there are AI within earshot, then the AI would react to the player's voice... Again, what do you think?
  18. Oprheus: there is no magic bullet. Rather you should try combining several of the tips listed. Gamebooster has been listed there for over a year now.

    Isla Duala

Hi guys, are there any addon-free COOP missions for Duala? I looked in the USER missions thread and found almost 2 dozen but practically all of them require ACE. The best would be a campaign, in the vein of Tonal...
  20. Orpheus: try these tips to get the game running smoothly, as it addresses the CPU load and it's quite quick: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466

    COWarMod Release

I concur Orcinus' investigations. I have crafted a tiny version of SLX that I call "SLX lite". It is currently under test with Gunter. Once I have his green light I'll share it with you.
  23. @SAS: good advice from Leon. But I'd add that, unless you've already got the CPU, I'd swap the i5/i7 for an i5-3570k. It's true that the new quad cores from Ivy Bridge are €40 ($50) more expensive than 2500k but they offer lower temps and better performance. Plus they're cheaper than i7. Reliable and relevant benchmarks here for CPUs. As for GPU, I'd go for a GeForce 570 or Radeon 78XX/69XX. Again decent benchmarks here.

    Regarding Arma 2 and OA

@Cyper: good advice from tom3kb. So build yourself a decent system now (don't go cheap but don't go expensive either) based on a fast (<3GHz) quad core (e.g. i5-3570K) with a recent GPU (Radeon 69XX/78XX or GeForce 570), 4+GB of RAM (Crucial are good) and a medium-sized (128+GB) SSD (Crucial are good). Provided that it is good quality, a 500W PSU will suffice (Antec and Fortron are good). That setup should allow you to play CO (A2+OA) at high-res (1920x1200) with most, if not all the settings at maximum quality (apart from View Distance). It should also allow you play A3, albeit at more moderate settings. Later, once A3 is more optimised and the community has a better appreciate of its architecture, you'll be able to make a more informed decision on an upgrade.
  25. I'd definitely be interested in pbo version. Would it also be possible to configure it? E.g. radius in which houses are illuminated, time at which illumination starts/ends, type of illumination (static vs flickering flame), etc.
