  1. FIXED IT!

Unfortunately ive just done the unthinkable. Buggered my OFP installation beyond all obvious repair.

I was playing around with the settings, and i had my pc running 4200 viewdistance and high terrain detail (with max vis quality) rofl.gif

It actually worked albiet very slowly, however, i then went into editor, then tried going back into game. And, out to desktop.

    Bugger.

Ever since its refused to let me load the game, crashing out once it gets past the splash screens and trys to load the menu screen, with the error.

    <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">ErrorMessage: CreateVertexBuffer (static, separate) failed 8876017c - out of memory?

    I have

-Tried with both no map and without.

    -Tried removing all my addons

-Tried running it in ultra low res (600,x480) and with very low vis settings. Edited flashpoint.cfg to give myself extremely low settings too, but with no luck.

I've monitored my memory usage and it hardly uses anything, i'm sure its not a mem problem.

    So.

Have i buggered something up indefinately? Complete reinstall?

Or is there something i'm missing confused_o.gif

My only other thought is that my CPU usage gets very high, and there is a chance the error could be simply running out of CPU due to it being jammed in high viewdistance settings - how do i set viewdistance and/or terrain detail externally to OFP? If i can externally set that, thats the final test i'd like to try before i declare my OFP installation officially dead. If it still doesnt work, reinstall i guess sad_o.gif

    Cheers

(i figured my pc specs are irrelevant to this, as its nothing to do with them - OFP worked perfectly for over a year before i buggered it up today)

    OOPS sorry wrong thread whistle.gif

  2. Check your operation flashpoint directory it may be called something else or its installed in c:/.../operation flashpoint as opposed to c:/.../operationflashpoint

    note the space

Your comment is explained in the mod readme file !. This is not the problem. As I explained in my first post, the link address line is made correctly - as per the readme - with ALL spaces checked for accuracy. The fault appears to be that the ammended link address is looking for a file which I don't have ...

    Rats

    it works it looks great.

i made a folder in ofp dir called ffur2005

sent the instaler in to that.

    shortcut c:\programfiles\codemasters\operation flashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE"[space]-nomap[space]-nosplash[space]-mod=ffur2005

and yes i am a noob.

  3. Hi - was REALLY looking forward to getting my hands on this. But, having installed the "Modern" pack directly from the link in this forum I can't get it to run. I've done a fresh install of ofp (goty) - uprated it to 1.96, installed ffur to the ofp folder and created a shortcut EXACTLY as per the example given - yes, I've checked word spacing etc. Problem is, it still links straight to, and starts up, basic ofp 1.96 and not ffur.

I've noticed that the installation readmes refers to an ffur folder (I can't find one or anything else that looks like a mod folder - although I do now have other ffur items and files dotted about in the main ofp folder). I have re-installed twice now, with no progress. I'm not a newb to this, but am I missing something ??.

    Rats

i have the same cananyone help shortcut starts normal flashpoint.
