Falklands Mod Westland Lynx AH 1 (TOW) BETA
da12thMonkey replied to -Ash-'s topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Damnit, see what I miss when I'm ill for a few days? Fantastic work lads, I honestly didn't think I'd have the chance to play with one of these until you released the rest of the mod, so thanks for such a nice surprise. No such thing as a British "regular transport with a m.gun and some FFARs" They're fitted with door mounted 7.62 machineguns (up to 2 I think) but you're right, they never carry FFARS. -
So many M16 / M4 AddOn
da12thMonkey replied to panzergrenadier3's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
There's a snow camo M16 in the NZDF Troop pack. The NZSAS Mountain Troop carry it. Download -
I tried using ICP and Trillian on the advice of other people but I didn't like the interface for some reason so stoped using them. I stick to MSN personally, everyone I want to contact online either has it or I can catch up with them on IRC if needs be.

Indeed, the only places you're likely to see a red squirrel in the UK is in the Scottish Highlands or on some of the little coastal islands we have; I know there's a big colony of them on Brownsey Island off the coast of Dorset, just south of Poole. Probably the only place you're certain to see one in the UK.

Indeed, British sausages are very good if you buy them from the right place, however most places you go to eat only use the comercial supermarket-bought sauages because they keep in a freezer and are much cheaper yet are of a poor quality because of the meat that's used to make them. Personally I have no complaint eating them, I just know they're not any good. Luckilly I have 2 friends who are butchers so I get proper sausages made from decent cuts of pork quite cheaply.

This is in the sewers bit right? Bear in mind this'll be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't got further than the Route Kanal level: In which case you don't have to get into the air vent, you have to go into the room next door and raise the water level using the red valve on the pipe in the middle of the room. You have to jump down there using a series of other pipes but it's pretty easy to reach. After you've done that, go back into the other room, there will be some manhacks (the flying buggers with a red light on the front and blades) that come out of the vent you were trying to reach. Once you've dealt with them, dive into the water and head down the ladder through the grated floor in the room. You should be under water and be able to swim through a tunnel in the wall with red lights running through it over to the other side.

Not a terrible likeness:

I saw the German market in Coventry on the local news a few days ago, looked interesting but I'm not so keen on German food; I've eaten it on business trips to Hamburg etc and found it a bit bland, I'm not a fan of cold, cooked meats (I know it's not saying much coming from an Englishman, apart from the fry-up our food is pretty awful really:))... but the German beer's good. We used to have a little French market visit set up in my town during the spring, all manner of good wine, garlic sausages and cheeses, more my kind of stuff. My uncle gets a friend over from Belgium to hold a beer festival at his pub once in a while too; with beer from accross France, Belgium and Germany.

Isn't Infinity Ward, the maker of Call of Duty largely made up of EA's former Medal of Honor team?

Apart from vehicles which are nearly all 'FV' (Field Vehicle) As for the inconsistancy with the weapon numbering, it's probably down to everything in the US army receiveing a M-number, not just the weapons. For example after the M-14, the M-15 could a type of round, a piece of personnal equipment, an engine, anything really before the M-16 was introduced. I think also, when a piece of equipment goes out of service another piece of equipment can adopt its ID number. I seem to remember there being more than one piece of kit in the British Army that has recieved the L1 (Land Service 1) designation. The numbers etc aren't really meant to be sequential for any specific type of equipment, sometimes they're just given that desigantion because it's reference to when the thing was made, such as the M-82 whic was developed from 1982 onwards, and the L-85 (SA-80) which was issued in 1985. It just makes it easier to fill out forms and input data into logistics databases. So long as you can look up what the ID number is reference to on a form or a computer you should be able to find out what it is.

Well, that certainly explains how they can pump out so many games in such a short space off time. The real shame is that these people are working themselves to death to make what is ultimately crap; nothing new or revolutionary that would otherwise warrent such 'dedication' from EA's staff. They're paying peanuts and we're getting nutty monkey shit.

Ever seen Pirates of the Caribbean? That bit where they get marooned on the desert island, I could live like that for the rest of my life: sunshine, sea, Keira Knightley and an ass load of rum. Bliss!

I've had HL2 since the day it came out but at the moment I'm just not having enough fun playing it to really get stuck into the game, I've never really got heavilly into these sort of sci-fi shooter games but I'm enjoying it more than the original though, it's a bit more diverse thanks to the physics which are trully fantastic (and it's so much prettier). With the original game I got about 3 levels in before I decided I really didn't like the way the game played and sold it, my progress through the sequel is just vey slow because of work and a lack of desire to play any game of any sort, not least an intense action game, maybe when life eases off I'll really get into it and finish it all in one mammoth sesion, I certainly want to this time. While I'm not loving the game I'm in admiration of its technical brilliance, the animations and character design is fantastic, certainly the best I've come accross and finally a game that takes full advantage of the Havok engine; making bodies move more realistically and actually slump over eachother instead of fly about and clip through eachother like in other games to use the engine, such as Max Payne 2. My main desire in finishing the game is to see what else there is that is technically stunning: I sat down for about 5 minutes shooting a matress on the Water Hazard level because I was in awe of the way it flexed and compressed and cardboard boxes just to watch the way they collapsed. I suppose I'm just waiting for a Red Orchesta-esque mod to be made for the game to get my money's worth.

6 SNEB pods? Holy crap. The ships look great, so does the Gr.3. I look forward to the mod.

Hunt the intruder - out-flank him
da12thMonkey replied to Footmunch's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Proxies (the bombs) don't animate, so the 'slide' could move, but the bombs won't. I've got a version that does this, but it looks quite odd when it happens. Work continues... Understood, I thought that'd be the problem. Adding 'brake' to the action menu always seems so clumsy... Fair point, that wouldn't be so great. I was wondering if it's possible to script it in such a way that they open when you press down in a similar fasion to the airbrakes on OFrP's Jags and the JASDF mod's F1, though they open downwards, not sideways. Another couple of bugs with the Bucc: Martel ASMs make no sound when fired in 3rd person view and the bombs on the SAAF Buccaneer make a noise like a missile when dropped. -
Japan or Australia for the food and booze as well as the scenery, though I honestly love living in the UK and can't really imagine living elsewhere full-time. I would have said China also, it's got some bloody fantastic scenery and an interesting culture but I don't think I could hack living in a state like that.

Nice work foot. Gorgeous looking aircraft, and best of all 2 them are British. Just a couple of things though; the Buccanneer had a rotating bomb-bay in real life, not the double barn-doors type bomb-bay on your version or is such a system not feasable in OFP? also, the flaps don't appear to extend. It'd be nice to have the clamshell airbrakes on the tailcone working too but that's not really necessary. The rear of the cockpit of the Beagle is missing in the pilot view, if you try looking behind you you can see that you can look outside through an invisible aircraft. -
I've been looking around the Japanese OFP a little this weekend after finding some shots of an Mi-24V being made by Scar (of Leopard 2A6 fame): http://www11.tok2.com/home2/oekusee/index.htm and wanted to see what kind of talent there was in the rest of Japan apart from him and the guys at BOH when I found these JASDF aircraft made by Rezin: Mitsubishi F1 Mitsubishi/Lockheed Martin F2 You can download them at http://rezin.at.infoseek.co.jp/down.html. They require this weapons pack http://rezin.at.infoseek.co.jp/Download/JASDF_w.zip and these pilots http://rezin.at.infoseek.co.jp/Download/RZNfpilot.zip. I haven't seen them posted around here before or on any of the main OFP newssites so I thought I'd be the one to give the heads-up.

I bought it this morning and haven't been able to register my CD key because Steam's too busy. At the moment I can't even log on to Steam

That's a newt mate. Not entirely sure what kind but it's a female one, probably a smooth newt. Edit: http://www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/cumbria/newt%20identification.htm

WW2 ALLIANCE: US and German soldiers (beta pack )
da12thMonkey replied to Parker Hale's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Downloaded these a few days ago. In addition to the bugs alread mentioned, the KAR-98 with fitted with a bayonet is missing textures and the Romanian unit who is supposed to be equipped with an Erma carries a MP-28 (which is missing textures as mentioned above) so he can't shoot anything because the ammo he is carrying is incompatable with his weapon. -
Finnish Defence Forces Modification 1.3
da12thMonkey replied to feersum.endjinn's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
They look like UCE's units. Is the desert terrain meant to represent Eritrea or is it somewhere fictional. I ask because I've seen pictures of the FRDF's deployment to Eritrea and was wondering if you were basing it on that. -
Addons: Gavinicus' Wehrmacht pack (released today on WW2EC's forums), Sturmtiger's M4 Sherman, Winter Everon, ORCS and Hunter's anims.
