    New Star Wars game!!!!

Dark Forces, DF2: Jedi Knight (including the expansion pack: Mysteries of the Sith) and JK: Jedi Outcast were great games, and I'm with Pajama that DF2 was the best of the bunch because of its atmosphere. Strange thing is that I ended up with the game by accident of sorts, when I bought my first PC for when I moved out of my parents' house, the bloke I got to put all the components together said he'd throw in a couple of free games with it, one of the games I asked for was Rebel Assault II an awful game but I was yet to embark on my journey into the world of true PC gaming; before that I'd only played on consoles, my Amiga (not really what I'd class as a PC since it had no HDD and I just used it like a games console) and my friend's PC games that were limited to Id's works such as DooM and Wolfenstein, and I wasn't really that heavilly into computer games on the whole anyway, so I didn't know, much less cared whether it was shite or not. Fortunately he mistook my request for that of Jedi Knight (which was brand spanking new at the time) so when I booted my new PC up for the first time I found DF2 there and man was it good, because of that I can't actually remember what the other games I asked the bloke for were. After completing it a few times I went out and bought the previous game too. JK: Jedi Academy was pretty bloody crap though, even though it had the same gameplay as Jedi Outcast but with customisation options and one or two vehicles (that handled badly), there was nothing epic about the storyline and the levels were unimaginative. Knights of the Old Republic is definitely my favourite Star Wars game though, one of my favourite games of all time in fact. The gameplay wasn't that especially good but the way the story came to life throught the way relationships developed between the main characters was great, the only game I've felt that came close to similarly achieving this was Illusion's Mafia, so it has stuck in my mind as a rather uniq playing experience. For some reason I've not gone and got the Sith Lords though, no idea why, I'm just not ready to devote hours into gaming at the moment I suppose, I know that'll happen if I get KotOR 2. The only X-Wing game I've played was Alliance, I think I traded it with a mate of mine for Delta Force 2. I liked it a lot but stopped playing it before I finished it (I think I went back to console gaming for a while). As a reasonably big fan of Star Wars I'll tell you that the games generally miss the mark more often than not, and this new Episode III game looks pretty awful so odds are that it will suck. Aparently the Lego Star Wars game is pretty nice though (according to a buddy of mine), I guess because it's not taking itself so seriously, by having diddy little lego-men running about with lightsabers, so you can get away from the stigma of the license a little.

    Best helicopter flight models

I was talking real life. Can FLK's Lynx do loops in OFP? I can't say I've tried. I've managed a few with BAS' Littlebirds though.

    Best helicopter flight models

It's not called a backflip, it's called a loop ;) I've seen the Eurocopter Tiger perform a loop too so the Lynx aint the only one that can do it. And as Oeil2Lynx said, it's a special variant of the Lynx called the G-Lynx that's the fastest chopper in the world, the operational AH.Mk.7 only has a top speed of 263km/h IIRC, which is slower than the Blackhawk. Still the best chopper in the world (IMO) though!

    CAT's Afghanistan Revisited 1.2

PUKF's beta Desert troop pack. He's testing them along with the rest of the lads at VOLCBAT. They're not released yet. The island's fantastic btw AG Smith. Definitely puts it among my 3 favourite islands now.

    M1A2 SEP v.2.0

I've had no CTDs using the APAM-T in 3rd person either. I've noticed that I'm not getting the effect when the MPAT hits something. It worked the very first time I used it but hasn't since. Maybe because I'm using FDF mod? Edit: Oops, forgot to say bloody nice job.

Use a satellite and zoom in

Yep. I've just finished looking around the AMARC bit, some interesting aircraft there. Satellite appears to be working again now btw.

Use a satellite and zoom in

Look at the main parking area close to the main runway, there are at least 20-30 A-10s with a single F-18 parked up there, along with the 707 type and half a dozen C-130 types. Further north there from the top end of the main runway (follow the taxi-way) are some blackhawks and around the corner, an F-15. Further to the southwest there are more C-130 types nearing the aircraft graveyard where there are B52s, C-141s, P-3s, and even older aircraft such as B-57s. A general overview of the site: Where to find it What's there

Use a satellite and zoom in

Interesting place to look at near Tucson AZ; Davis-Monthan AFB. Check out all the types of aircraft in the graveyard there, as well as the active aircraft sationed there; A-10s EC-130s, Blackhawks and there is also an F-16, F-15c and an F-18 there too as well as some sort of 707 based aircraft, perhaps an EC-135 or E-8 J-Stars. If you look at the road map for a big grey space to the south-west then switch to the satelite view and zoom in a bit you'll see it.

    Decisive Killing Machines

There are 2 varients in service at the moment I think. AC-130H which as 2 M61A1 Vulcan 20mm cannons at the front and a single Bofors L-60 (M2A1) 40mm cannon and a 105mm M-102 Howitzer as aft armament, and the AC-130U that has a single 25mm GAU-12/U cannon at the front and the same aft armament as the AC-130H.

Enemy In Sight - the next OFP "clone" ?

I think illusion softworks don´t support modding community at all, atleast i haven´t heard any editors or tools to H&D 2 or Mafia, correct me if i´m wrong. But anyways this seems to be the game that can compete with ofp and ofp2, let´s see who get´s their game released first, my bet goes to Enemy In Sight. Mafia was and is fully moddable...I love the Ferrari 360.  Modding tools for Mafia weren't supported by Illusion though were they? I was under the impression that the community developed the tools, and in general modding the game was a bit tricky, and certainly not as flexible as OFP, since you could only replace existing content in the game, rather than add to it as in the case of OFP. This was certainly the case when I was still checking out the modding community for Mafia, not sure if things have progressed since. If this is the case with EiS, OFP should remain superior IMO since it wont really allow you to create a multi-national scenario for the game if for example, you want to use the French army and have to replace the existing American troops in the game with a French mod rather than just select some French addons to put in a mission along with the Americans.

    Red Hammer Studios

I reckon Totmacher's weapons for RHS are worth waiting for: http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~upload...._04.jpg http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~upload....7_2.jpg http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~upload...._04.jpg Look a bit more up my street than the ORCS pack which, while nice, detailed and fairly extensive, look a little (only a little) out of place in OFP, in my opinion. Pictures were from The Modeling Thread btw.

    Decisive Killing Machines

Aparently you just lift off the ground vertically like... well, being in a lift, until you get to the same altitude as the aircraft, then you get dragged along behind it for as long at it takes the blokes in the back to grab the wire with a hook and pull you into the aircraft. Doesn't really sound all that bad to me but then again I've never been the poor sod who tried it. Quote taken from here.

There aren't really any other differences between the KC-130 and the standard C-130 other than the drogue refueling system. Since you're doing the MC-130H (I assume it's the H varient since the pictures you were given as reference were the one with the big nose ) and KC-130. Could you do an MC-130P Combat Shadow since it's basically it's a special forces version of the KC-130, just with an IR detection system on the nose: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/688441/L/ http://www.airliners.net/open.file/795257/L/ The lads who fly them (67th SOS) are nice blokes, they sold me a beer mug for a tenner and said I could have unlimited refills from the kegs of beer they'd brought along with them for the whole weekend of the Air Tatoo at Fairford. There is another version of the MC-130P with an altered nose a bit like the MC-130H, that used to carry the Fulton Recovery System that picked up special forces operatives without landing, by catching balloons attached by a wire to the operative on the ground between two 'whiskers' on the nose. http://www.specwarnet.com/vehicles/mc130h_fulton.jpg However these have now been removed leaving the plane with a nose like this: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/754839/L/ However this would require doing some more modeling work and I don't want to over-burden you with too big a request considering the amount of effort you're already putting into doing so many textures. @Panzergrenadier3: I think he just meant that the Netherlands' roundel was similar to the Czech one, but with a spot in the centre @Messiah We haven't used the tricolour roundel on combat aircraft since the 70s/early 80s have we? I haven't seen it on any of our planes or helicopters apart from the Queen's flight and some of the trainer aircraft at Shawburry. the bicolour one's much more common: and harder to confuse with the French one ;)

    Best island made!

The islands I use the most are Sarugao (the updated version by Buggs), Mapfact's rendition of Nogova, CAT/AGS Afghanistan and the desert regions of BAS Tonal (the jungle hammers my framerate too much). The islands made by the Bloody Days Mod (St. David, Lorient, Avignon etc) are also damn fine islands considdering they only used BIS objects, as is the previously mentioned Freya. A couple more of my favourites are Anjou by Pupsi, Newland by JJracing and Meekong Delta by Hell's Circus even though they're not so generous on framerates.

Yep, C-5 Galaxy. If you think it looks big in pictures you should see one in real life. Just interested though, what liveries are you doing for your C-130H-30 model? The same or just the Swedish one? I ask since many nations who use the C-130H also operate the dash-30 model in addition, such as France and the UK, since it's a relatively cheap solution to carrying more cargo. The Netherlands (which you're still doing right?) in fact only use the dash-30. Anyhow, it's all sounding better and better, keep up the good work mate.

Marvellous work mate. A huge improvement on WW2EC's last British infantry model, and I thought those were already quite good.

    Decisive Killing Machines

If you want to do nations other than the US and UK I think you should look at nations that are already fairly well represented in OFP so that your C-130 complements an already decent set of addons, and gives both some use to mission makers, rather than leaving them with no suitable vehicles or units to drop when you release them. For example a French Air Force version would compliment OFrP's Parachutistes from their infantry pack very well: French Air Force C-130 with grey/green camo scheme French Air Force C-130 with plain grey camo scheme Other well represented nations that use the C-130 include The Netherlands thanks to the Lowlands Warrior team, and Israel and Egypt thanks to the Lost Brothers team (though they have C-130s in their mod already) Edit:- perhaps you could release some sort of C-130 skin development kit with .psd (or equivalent layered image editing format) of the panels, rivets and other details such as shading that could be placed over a base camouflage texture to allow other addon makers to create their own nation's colours. I seem to remember PSC doing something similar with his dune buggy addon.

Enemy In Sight - the next OFP "clone" ?

I didn't think the first two shots looked all that great but the new ones look very nice. The lighting on the BMP is good, there's lots of vegetation about and the viewdistance gives the environment a nice crisp appearance. The colours perhaps look a bit too vibrant though, something I like about OFP is its hazyness. I'm not overly confident in how mod-able the game will be though. I can't remember Illusion giving its previous games much modding support though Mafia's the only game of theirs that I stuck with for a decent time to see how the modding community developed, and I wasn't impressed. Should be a pretty good game to play until OFP2 comes out, (If BIS make deliver something prettier than this we'll be quids in given their support of addons) Illusion deliver some very solid, challenging gameplay in singleplayer so it could be worth the money even if it's not so great to mod and fighting a war in my native countryside (England) sounds great, even though the story of the game is a bit of an old boot with the relapse of the Cold War etc.

    Competition for M16/M4 replacement opens

I've not heard anything about the L85A3, there's nothing about it on the DPA's site (where you'd expect to be able to read about all of the MoD's existing and future equipment programs) either. Are you perhaps thinking about the Carbine version of the SA-80 that's due to be issued to tank crews from 2006? Not sure what the designation for that is yet.

    AH-64 Pack Release

I'll see if I can get you one next time one flies over my house. I can't promise that it'll be any good or if I'll even be able to get one at all, they're not that frequent flyers around here and I may not have a recording device at hand when I next encounter one, but I'll try my best and tell you if I get one. Edit:- Just wondering if the British Apache you're doing is carrying British CRV7 rocket pods or Hydra pods like the US version. It's a fairly minor difference between British Apaches and those of the rest of the world. CRV7 pods are curved at the front like on this picture: http://www.jamierees.co.uk/aviatio....-H1.JPG
