Holy crap! I just got back from seeing the new Star Wars movie, I thought I was happy enough after seeing that but these screens have just made my day. The environments are absolutely stunning.

I believe RC stands for Release Candidate, i.e a version that is believed to be fit for release, but needs testing to make sure there are no bugs, if the tests reveal no bugs, it's good for release.

RHS releases: GRU, SOBR, RFMI, GAZ66, Weapon Pack
da12thMonkey replied to raedor's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Says in the weapons readme that the AKS-74s in their various guises use 7.62 mags, is this a typo? I thought they'd use 5.45 rounds like it says the AK-74Ms do. Also, in the optics view, the AKM varients and RPK-74 varients have 2 'pronged' muzzle flashes indicitive of the flash-hiders on AK-74s rather than the circular or star shaped ones they have in the other views, which you would expect given their different flash-hiders to the AK-74. I re-iterate that this is only in the optics view and that the muzzle flashes are fine in other views. Fantastic pack though, I've had a lot of fun using them despite the bugs. -
Unedited More RHS GRU, Gavin's german face pack, BAS Mist. Think the lights may be part of one of the editor upgrade things.

RHS releases: GRU, SOBR, RFMI, GAZ66, Weapon Pack

Excellent! I felt like you were going to have a fairly big release but the SOBR units and the Gaz were not on my list of possibilities for what the release would be. I'm nicely surprised, and it'll be worth the additional stress I have stuggling to get to work on time tomorrow morning, they're not downloading quick enough for my superiors' liking, though they should pay me more so I can get a faster connection. -
I had a similar problem with the BIS logos appearing on BWMod's Fennek and a Polish UAZ addon (forgot who made it), I figured it was an addon conlict since it appeared very suddenly, so I sifted through all the addons I'd downloaded recently and discovered that removing Philcommando's Sovremny Class destroyer addon fixed it, so I assume it's was a bug that that addon created. So try removing that addon if you have it. If it's not that, I have no idea. I should probably mention this to PC but I've not tested the latest version of the addon, so maybe it was fixed in subsequent releases. I'll have to check.

I can't understand how anyone takes Kilroy seriously; he seems to have driven off on his own tangent, thinking there's a good number of like-minded people that will vote for him. Admitedly he's exposed the faults in UKIP, but it seems to me that he has his own agenda and he doesn't care what other folk think. That's not what Parliament's about. As for the Tories' policy on defence, seriously, I don't belive they have any real vision for what they want to make out of the UK, I think they only criticise Blair's faults in the hope of getting votes. None of their campainging seemed consolidated, it was just an attack on Labour.
-
I voted Labour but the Tories got in in the Wrekin seat. I'm just happy the Lib Dem candidate didn't win, he's a twat: He had fishing on two local ponds banned and had all the geese eggs there destroyed to stop them reproducing and crossing the road with their chicks; so they don't slow him down on the way to work. Happy Labour won though. Maybe Blair'll start listening to what his party and the country has to say a bit more now they've lost so much ground.

Aye, that's it, the Prime Minister (though this title does not constitutionally exist, the real title is First Lord of the Treasury) has to go to ask the Queen if Parliament can be dissolved for the purposes of the Election, and yes, she can choose to dissolve Parliament at any time. This year's campaigning has been rather weak really, there's been no real points of interest and none of the parties seem to have anything solid to offer. I only voted because I'd rather not run the risk of someone nicking my vote.

In the British Parliamentary system, a General Election has to be called at least once every five years, unless there's a time of national emergency, in which case an election can be postponed. The goverment can call an election at any time during the five years they have in office (IIIRC there were 2 in 1974). The last one we had was in 2001.

I like the CoD games, they have a nice atmosphere despite not being anything technically astounding. The music's some of the best in any game I've come accross. The graphics in this one look excellent, and by the looks of it, there's finally a British campaign that's not something to do with the SAS, so we get a fairly decent representation of our war effort for once. 4 stories? That's one more than the usual 3 American, British and Russian campaigns; perhaps there will be a German campaign? Though the screens seem to indicate 2 British campaigns: one in Europe and one in North Africa. Or is the European one a Canadian campaign?

Lol, I actually ghasped when I saw those pics loading. Astonishing work, Scars has done on them.

Is that a Milan I see mounted on the turret? As those before me have said, looks excellent, can't wait. Hopefully not a long wait since you said it was 99.99% done, right? Or are you waiting on other things to get finished and have a nice, big, mass release of UKF stuff?
-
Looks excellent. Some Finnish mates of mine that I used to mod another game with gave me a history lesson on Finland's conflicts during WW2, so I can say I'm very interested in seeing how this is all represented in OFP. It's also nice to see another WW2 mod that isn't focused on the normal UK+US Vs Nazi Germany aspect of the war that we're by now very familliar with in games and movies. Just wondering though, will the Finnish troops in this expansion remain on the Resistance side as is the case with the rest of FDF mod or will they switch to another side to allow combat with other Russian WW2 addons which are currently placed on the Res side by general consensus of other WW2 addon makers?

LSR Deltas/Rangers/Weapons 2.0 Released
da12thMonkey replied to Laser's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
What's the point of this post? 1) Congratulate Laser on his nice units for OFP 2) Point out that this forum is not a plynth for people to make remarks about a game they have not played. Clear enough? Â I agree with you that it's idiotic to judge VBS1 without having played it, and I do think the VBS1 stuff does look a bit better than LSR's units (only by a very tiny margin, these units are trully excellent Laser; by far the best looking troops in OFP.) however, I feel it's quite probable that people are probably merely expressing an opinion on Lasers work rather than pissing on VBS1 out of spite; in their opinion these units may indeed look better than VBS1's stuff, but in your opinion (and mine) they're not quite as good, opinions vary mate. You didn't seem angered by the fact that people said your C-130 is better than that in VBS1 based on comparing a few screenshots did you? Laser reading that some people think that his troops surpass the quality of the very obviously outstanding VBS1 units must be really encouraging for him, and people have probably expressed such an opinion to applaud his thus. People can argue that chairs are better than tables, a stupid thing to compare I know but ultimately, once we are faced with forming an opinion we create an opinion on which is better whether we like it or not. If we all agreed what was best, the world would be boring. This being said, some of us OFP players who don't have VBS1 have made rather silly, childish comments that shouldn't have been made, so I can understand why you're being a little on the defensive. Either way, let's not stir up some bad feelings between the community over the OFP/VBS issue again like what happened in the CSLA thread recently. Not only will it piss of the moderaters but other members of the forums too, and we're not here to piss eachother off are we? Again, trully excellent work Laser, everything about this pack is great. You should be very proud and deserve all the thanks and applause you get. -
I spent 5 years of school learning both French and German and I seemed to be the mutt's at it by their standards, I got an A grades for both but I was never able to learn it in a way where I could express something off the cuff in either language. I found remembering the vocabulary very difficult but I was fine on constructing sentences, so I passed simply by having a limited number of nouns in my head and a load of verbs and adjectives with their accompanying gender and tense paradigms which I found quite easy to remember. If someone spoke to me in either language, I suppose I'd be able to pick up what they were on about based on body language and the structure of what they said, but forming a personal response would be very difficult for me; especially since I've been out of practise for over a decade. My English is starting to fail me nowadays too i think, I've got into a habbit of spelling things incorrectly since I've got used to spelling most things right, and stop checking.

Nobody really considders any of it racist. There's just a worried minority that think other people think it is: They either think it's the uneducated working classes being intollerent of other cultures, the upper classes trying to hark back to the days of colonialism, and worry that the migrant population (with their supposed lack of understanding for our way of life ) sees it this way, and they fear some sort of consequent civil unrest that'll disrupt their comfy, Audi TT driving, dinner partying lifestyle. You may notice that I'm not a fan of the British (upper, nowadays) middle-class. Though I'm hardly working 12 hours a day down't pit myself.

I guess this is why the landlord gave everyone a pint on the house at midnight last night then... Can't say I see anything special about St. Georges day or any of these patron Saints' days, I love this country enough as it is without needing one day a year to show it. But yea, this idea of offending people with flags and shit is idiotic, nobody's offended by it in reality; there's just middle-aged, middle-class tossers with jobs in the council or managing businesses who think everyone else in the country's a raging racist because they're too uneducated or too pompous to be enlightened about other cultures, so any attempt we make to define our nationality is racially provocative. Thank God they're all in positions of power that allow them to stop such evil eh? Right before they sit down to read the Dailly Mail Nowadays, people around here are fine about flying the flags on St. George's day, the local papers promote it, even our council have the flag out, and we have a lot of immigrated people here. Though for a long time before that there was that fear of offending folk, hence I've never really been one to pay attention to when it's St. George's day. Outside of Ireland (though maybe in Ireland too) St. Patrick's day has become an excuse for a piss-up, so you get the breweries sending pubs loads of posters and shite to encourage landlords to hold an event where people go and spend a load of money on booze... that goes to the breweries.

Out of all of the EC-130 varients I think the EC-130E (RR)'s that are part of the Commando Solo program are probably the least useful in OFP. More useful versions of the EC-130 are the EC-130E (ABCCC) Airborne Command and Control Centre, that could be used to relay target information between different groups over the whole expanse of a map while in flight, or by landing and deploying the command and control centre module in a forward position, or the EC-130H Compass Call electronic jamming aircraft that could be used to clutter radars on anti-aircraft positions with false targets while friendly aircraft operations take place. However, I think the only sensible use for any C-130 varient in OFP is air-transport, rather than the complex, operations performed by the more exotic varients particularly when recreating them would require some heavy scripting, and Jag has said himself that scripting is not his forté. This being said though Jag, if you do decide on doing some EC-130 varients, I've got a very good reference in the form of labelled, side-profiles of several varients that indicates the differences between them very well. I think I mentioned that to you before in a PM, so if you want it just ask okay?

Not exactly the best landing I've ever performed... OFrP's Jaguar, CAT/AGS Afghanistan

This may or may not be a helpful place to search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ I'll see if I can take a pic of my grandad's WW2 stuff next time I visit my grandma, I seem to recall that he went some interesting places in his time with the Royal Artillery and has some medals that show where he toured, as well as a Mills grenade (with the fuse and all the mechanisms taken out, and the end bunged up with a cork). I'm not really sure what regiment he was in, I never thought to ask while he was alive. My grandma's also got some nice stuff from her time in the RAF back then, nicest of all is an Iron Cross a PoW gave her.

Edit: nevermind

I think giving joe public the choice between paying around $50 for OFP2 or $140 for just VBS1's core module is a bit of a no-brainer. Some die-hard realism folk who actually know about it might opt for VBS1 (if it's a step back in realism over OFP, but I can't see BIS doing that personally) but the majority of people, new and old players alike will get OFP2. Simply because it'll be more widely distributed and accessable to the public. VBS1's not exactly heavilly publicised so few people will know it to buy it. Around $50 for OFP2 or $140 for just VBS1's core module? You decide

I dont think it ever went to console(Thank God for small favors). Alliance was never ported to console no, what I meant was that I never finished the campaign in X-Wing Alliance because I decided to play console games instead. IIRC I think my attention probably switched to my Sega Dreamcast; Shenmue in particular (Shenmue's a great game btw).
