We killed a lot of them; I finished off the very last 'living' zombie that was there this morning. Many of the large organised hordes that were there conceded defeat and left a few days ago though. They're attacking various Police stations aparently. Dare say there will be a lot of these bodies standing up in a few days though.

While I could download the game or buy it online and have it mailed if it was distributed that way only; I'd prefer to go to a store and buy it. I'm not scared of paying for things online, I have bought some things online but only because I couldn't get them in a shop. I just prefer to go out and buy things; it's how I came accross OFP in the first place, looking at the box in EB.

Heh, i got pretty slashed up by the zombies today wasting all my ammo down at the mall. Glad it was all worth it in the end though. I still need lots of first aid though and don't have enough AP or Fist-Aid kits to do it all myself yet. I'm in the NW corner of the mall if anyone of you at the mall can over me a helping hand. I'd appreciate it no end, this is as close as I've come to death yet.

Mig 29? Â Â They are Sukhoi SU-27UB "Flanker C"s! They're meant to be Su-30M/MKs but by Scar's own admission he forgot the canards on the early model shown in those pics (that's what I gather from the google translation of his blog) it's since been updated: http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/scars/imgs/6/d/6dc7a9e9.JPG

The two blokes I know who've gone on to work in the games industry just did as much modeling and other graphic design work for their portfolios as they could; whatever it was: architecture, characters, vehicles, objects, still-life scenes. Then they just applied for as many modeler positions as they could. Initially they went for small contract works, IIRC the one bloke made stuff for Best Buy and the other did a few models for a games developer on a limited external contract. It must be said though, they got knocked back plenty of times before they even got that far, but just carried on making more and more stuff for mods etc while they waited for a company to accept them. Time well spent improving their skills and knowledge of as many tools as they could. to build up a knowledge base of the processes needed to be at the cutting edge of 3D Design. AFAIK, neither of them took specific Computer Generated Design courses but they did do art courses to help them have a better idea of light+shading, physical form and general design. They included this in their portfolios too. If I see either of them on MSN in the near future, I'll ask them to give a more insightful account of what it took to get them their jobs. These are their homepages if you're interested: http://www.steveroyer.com/ http://www.gtapex.com/index2.htm

Things I realistically hope for in Armed Assault are: -Improved performance with modern hardware drivers -Better AI in close proximity to buildings and other objects (better driving and CQB) -Improved enemy and friendly AI (better use of cover, fire support, flanking manouvers etc) -Slightly better appearence of damaged vehicles and buildings (I'm not expecting individual pieces to come off models or holes where shells hit, just not the "crumpled paper" shit we have now) -Better support for all weapon types on all vehicle classes; like the ability to put zooming optics, large calibre guns, missiles, grenade launchers etc on cars so that player kills with these weapons count towards points. I'd also like to be able to move in and around moving vehicles and be able to transport other vehicles similarly, or at least have greater scripting resources available that would allow such a thing to be done by addonmakers at a later date if it's not done by BIS; this would kind of lend itself to multi-gunner scripts too. This is just somet I hope to see, I don't expect it to be possible. I'd like to see vehicle armour being more realistic too but I could live without it if it's not.

MAPFACT Barracks LOD Problem inside

Try upping your object LOD in FlashpointPreferences.exe (remember, the smaller the LOD number, the higher the polycount) -
Prevent Missiles from Firing (Striker CVRT)
da12thMonkey replied to SWIFT88's topic in OFP : CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Have a look at the Bradleys made by COMBAT!, they have a script that prevents you from firing the TOWs when the launcher's folded (when the vehicle is moving or the player closes it manually). Seems the ideal one to base a script for the Striker on. -
Thanks. Any particular adjustment tools or techniques in Photoshop that you reccomend I use?

These are some pictures my dad took this morning while we were testing out our home-made mount that fits his digital camera to a birdwatching telescope. Apart from the darkening bits and sort of radial blur (which I think looks kind of alright actually) around the edge of the picture it takes okay photos for a cheep camera and an even cheaper mounting device. The photos are of an Upland Sandpiper, a species not native to the UK (they're from America IIRC) so it provided a pretty nice photo-oportunity for our test. Bigger Version Bigger Version Edit:- forgot to say those are some great photos -=UOE.Txalo=-

Did BIS sold your free addons?
da12thMonkey replied to Heatseeker's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
That's good to hear. From what you've said and what Terpentin said earlier (BWMod's MAN trucks have been altered for use in the program by the looks), it does seem that addonmakers who have had their stuff used in DARWARS are being contacted for their permission. There's no issue here so long as they ask for everything they use, same as it is amonst people making any mod for the game. -

da12thMonkey replied to Heatseeker's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Is this a commercial product or a private venture between DARPA and and BBN? From what I've read, it appears DARPA has contracted BBN to effectively, put together an OFP mod for use in the US Military. It doesn't appear that they're selling it, technically speaking, but they've been payed to put it together. I don't see any information about allowing 3rd parties to purchase the thing. -

da12thMonkey replied to Heatseeker's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Even if addons aren't included and distributed with BBN's product, they're using other people's intelectual property to promote their work without the permission of the authors or any mention of who made what's on display in their publicity material. This doesn't seem legal to me. -
Yay, a Footmunch Friday! btw, a while back I added a couple of roundels to your roundel pack that weren't in there for my own use, you can have those too if you want. There's a low-visability version of the Canadian one, a Japanese one, Aeronavale, Hungary's Delta roundel, and the low-vis RAF one (the one that looks pink in the middle).

Sparrow shot to death in the netherlands!
da12thMonkey replied to gandalf the white's topic in OFFTOPIC
That's the point, people are seeing it as taking the life of an animal to save a piece of entertainment. Personally I look at it on the basis that there was an animal causing a nuisance that was got rid of through the only method that was likely to succeed in the end. If the dominoes weren't there they'd probably have waited longer to see if it got out itself before getting an exterminator but the end result would probably have been the same; sparrows aren't especially bright little things so it's unlikely that it'd get out on its own, they are however bright enough to make catching one of the buggers in a large space so that it can be freed, almost impossible. I'm sure plenty of birds have been shot inside buildings when they were causing nowhere near as much disturbance. It's not a necessary solution but it's an acceptable one in my book. -
Have you tried IkĺR's F-14 Tomcat? That came with some very impressive pilots I thought. They don't really pass for RAF pilots though.

Bloody hell... you've definitely gotten better at texturing mate.

Sparrow shot to death in the netherlands!
da12thMonkey replied to gandalf the white's topic in OFFTOPIC
Seems so strange that a bird that lives in buildings is running out of habitat but I know what you mean; it was mentioned on the news here that numbers of sparrows in British city centres were dropping, but populations seem pretty normal elsewhere. I suppose it's because of the way modern cities have large tower blocks with internal drainage, flat roofs and concrete instead of brickwork. Obviously the scale of this happening over here is nowhere near as bad as it is in the Netherlands if you've had to protect the species. I know shooting it was unnecessary but the idea of animals being killed doesn't really bother me unless it's purely for the person's own amusement or the animal's a real rarity that stands little hope of its species surviving much longer, so I don't see the what the fuss is about really. Â I doubt anything else they could have tried would have gotten rid of it, and I bet they tried alot of other methods first. My dad absolutely adores birds, he travels all over the country whenever he has some spare time to watch the things but if an animal control bloke couldn't catch a sparrow stuck up by the ceiling one of the huge workshops where we work, I'm certain he wouldn't mind that much if a bloke shot it. I'd rather watch a sparrow than see some dominoes get knocked over too, but I'd want to see it outside living the life it was hatched into, not stuck in a huge hall, scared out of its wits until it starves to death or dies of stress. Ed:- Man, my spelling sucks... -
I'm with the middle one too. It's all looking great btw BB

Sparrow shot to death in the netherlands!
da12thMonkey replied to gandalf the white's topic in OFFTOPIC
Depends what kind of sparrow it is. The only species of Sparrow I know are native to Holland are House Sparrows and Tree Sparrows. Both of these species are extremely common in the UK and well spread accross Europe so I can't see why their abundance is any different in Holland. Since the bird was in an urban area it was probably a House Sparrow since these live in close proximity to humans (about 30 of them roost in a hedge at the bottom of my garden and I had a pair nesting in the roof of my garage last spring). They are the most common species of Sparrow that exists in Europe, in fact most people consider them the most common bird in the UK (this isn't actually true though). Edit:- after reading up on this you're right, they're protected in the Netherlands since their population is falling, however they are still the second most common species of bird over there after the Blackbird. My appoligies. -
Sparrow shot to death in the netherlands!
da12thMonkey replied to gandalf the white's topic in OFFTOPIC
It's a bloody sparrow! They're common as muck, does it really matter if a bloke shot it? It's not like he just gunned down an Osprey. I doubt anyone'd care if it was something equally common like a rat, mouse or pigeon. -
How did we get from ACU uniforms to another AK Vs Ar-15 pissing contest?
-
The M3? The British Army uses them too. Impressive little things; they can be linked together in long lines to form pontoon bridges that can be shifted about up and down stream or into small groups to form ferries than can move about with vehicles loaded onto them.
