What sort of 'innovation' did they expect ArmA to offer exactly? OFP's innovation lay in it's simulation of the scale and actions of real military conflict. Is still far in advance of any tactical shooter, or indeed most other action games to date, in terms of its scale and realism. How can it be said that ArmA isn't innovative when there's still nothing that directly rivals, or even parallels the innovation of the original? The only other games I can think of that offer such large-scale battles as Flashpoint/ArmA are RTS games, and ArmA looks far more detailed than any RTS I've seen.

Seeing as they're carrying PKs rather than American MGs, I'd say they are South Sahrani forces, yes. Think some of the older US kit; M113s, Vulcan etc may also be Sahrani? I'm really impressed by the detail of the island and the lighting shown in the trailer.

I should hope so too, they're bloody awesome addons. Thanks.

Bushfires' Libyan units (DMA Toyota Wars pack), RHS Weapons Pack, DMA Libyan BRDM-2, BAS Tonal, Col. Klink's Seagull control centre thingumy. UKF FV 510 Warrior, CAT/AGS Afghanistan Laser's PJs, NI Mod weather, martinitram's Novajev island. -
Just one example: Vert.grip, RIS, sight, IR light, flashlight... And as for it being an American thing: Not true at all. Only the bloke closest to the camera in that pic is British, the other two are US Navy SEALs IIRC. Messiah seems to be fairly correct since he's the only one whos weapon isn't modded to shit. Pics of UKSF are much harder to come accross than those of their US counterparts though (which is a good thing I guess) so who's to say how much our blokes modify their kit.

Faun Franziska SLT56 v3.0
da12thMonkey replied to Gökhan - OFP TURKISH UNION's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
They work apart from some of the FV 510 variants. If you turn the vehicle sideways when loading it up, the lock vehicle actions appear, but if you do this the Warrior starts to fall off and jumps about on the trailer. All the non-510s work AFAIK so it's somet to do with the Warriors I guess. Great work on these btw, Murat & Gökhan. Some of the most impressive scripting work I've seen in an addon. Truly revolutionary stuff. -
Aye, like I said, I reckon the fact that there were reports going around that the Rafale, given that would be a proven 'off the shelf' solution, were just to spook the US a bit. The very positive offer of help from France also lay in stark contrast from the US's relationship with us at that time. Saying that a navalised Typhoon was a definite solution, probably wouldn't carry as much weight given that it's hasn't physically progressed (in a form suitable for carrier operations) as much as the F-35 program, even though it's more preferable than Rafale. I'd certainly like to see a navalised Typhoon over JCA though.
-
He's also said to be taking an offer from France to sell us Rafale M, seriously. Though I suspect this may be to put more pressure on the US if they see that we're 'actively' pursuing an alternative. As for the CVF, last report I read on it from the DPA (probably about November last year) stated that the carrier is progressing in STOVL configuration, but with the option to easily integrate a STOBAR configuration should it be needed for subsequent Fleet Air Arm procurements (and now, if JCA goes tits-up). They're now in the process of evaluating the proposals for systems that are going to be integrated into the ships... apparently. As for your plans for ArmA, I was excited just reading some of the ideas you mentioned to Messiah. The full details of the project sound just awesome. There's not a vehicle or system on that list that I'm not greatly anticipating.

Try these. http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=7681 I seem to remember there being some British-type buildings (there are some wall murals like you see in NI anyhow) in there based on retextured BIS buildings.

That's only an interim upgrade 'til we take delivery of Joint Combat Aircraft (F-35B JSF). However, it's been reported that we're having a bit of strife with the Americans over access to the secrets surrounding the technology of the aircraft that might result in us not buying the aircraft if we can't service them ourselves. This is getting off-topic though since the F-35 bit in the video was from Game 2, not Armed Assault. Nice to see some more ingame footage of ArmA but Ondrej's hair was the best part of the show. Is it possible for anyone to create an english transcript of it? Looked quite interesting.

The Concretes were supporting The Magic Numbers when I went to see them last month. I wasn't really impressed; they seemed very nervous on stage to begin with. The people I was with seemed to like them though and I thought their bassist was pretty good.

Flashpoint in the Falklands: Dead?
da12thMonkey replied to ofp_fan's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
OK i'll bite. "Sgt. Jones R.W.R (2nd) Battalion (A)company." Â which regiment? Why do i ask? Â Well you sound just like a little kid pretending and you seem to be using the US Army designation and not the Bristish way of describing a your unit... Â Which would normally include a regiment well before even mentioning a company. As a former member of HM Forces i find your post both amusing and insulting. Â If you are going to slag off a decent Addon Team or Teams and make up fantasy land stories atleast try to make it convincing. R.W.R = Royal Welsh Regiment -

Enfield hasn't been around since 1985 when it was made part of Royal Ordnace, and is now called BAe Land and Armaments Systems (BAe bought RO). I think the only British small-arms manufacturers going today are Accuracy International and Parker Hale. I reckon it's either a FN FNC or a Steyr AUG

Did you overwrite your old UKF_Weapons.pbo or something?

Isn't that a crane fly? I should know. My husband had to show me the encyclopedia entry to assure me that they would not eat me. Yes it's a crane fly, they're colloquially known as daddy long legs' in the UK though. Like Messiah said, a daddy long legs is a nickname for all sorts of creatures depending on where in the world you're from: it refers to various species of crane flies, spiders and harvestmen. From googling about, the spider in the killagee's pics is a 'daddy long legs spider' or 'long-bodied cellar spider': pholcus phalangioides.

Yes, it's by Rezin I think: http://rezin.at.infoseek.co.jp/Download/rok_armored.zip

DROPS is a 15-tonner on a 8*6 Foden or Leyland chassis, for carrying long-paletted, racked or container loads. 8-tonners are 4*4 Bedford TM chassied vehicles and carry any old shite you can fit on them like the 4-tonners do.

IIRC there are some of those packaged in with JR's GIGN addon. They're in the editor under Empty\GIGN Objects or somet like that. http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=6879

Dutch WMIK-ish thing in Vietstan Chassis definitely looks like that of a Wolf. Not sure what the engine specs are.

Alvis' Scarab lost out to the Iveco MLV (now named Panther) for the FCLV contract. I think Alvis marketed the MLV with Iveco though.
