Should be fairly easy.

Bugger, I was just about to post that. The one in Ironsight's picture's a Greek Mark IVF.

Keckler and Koch? Looks good though Jackal, looking forward to seeing more.

QI: The Book of General Ignorance

I don't understand why the LMV is still considered when the Cougar/Mastiff is clearly a better choice, both quality wise and looking at the price. Can anybody explain that? I don't know why you're weighing Mastiff and Panther up against each other, they're not being purchased under the same circumstances and aren't being bought to perform the same role. Mastiff (and Vector) were bought quickly as an off the shelf patrol vehicle for our lads given that Snatches were a bag of bollocks at what the MoD initially expected them to do in Iraq. They are intended to move a fair few people around, with the best balance between maneuverability and protection. The requirement for Panther was set out years ago, before Iraq IIRC, and decided upon a few years later (2004 I think, certainly before Mastiff was around). The contract was set up after the MoD decided Land Rovers and CVR(t)s weren't best suited for the role of a Command and Liaison Vehicle; a very specialised role that's was last done properly my the Ferret armoured car. The MoD had a proper set of requirements that various companies designed vehicles for in an effort to win the contract. There was no requirement that the vehicle be normally used as a general service vehicle (i.e troop patrols and transport) to replace general service Land Rovers, in any theater, or area of the armed foces. scary's described the intended role of Panther pretty well. This is why the Panther contract appears to be moving slower than the UOR for Mastiff and Vector; there is no urgent demand for Panther's role in Iraq or Afghanistan, it's development is going though all (SUV) IPT procurement phases. Panther's procurement is more along similar lines to the current FRES program that will one day replace the CVR(t) and FV-430 series, though slightly quicker due to the limited role of Panther, and the smaller number of vehicles required.

I believe development's been halted and the work has been handed over to the Bushwars mod for Armed Assault.

I've tried retexturing SFF's recon units in des DPM to try and pass them off as UKSF-types (no helmet, just boonies) as a private, short-term solution to the lack of UK kit, and they're alright if you use a bit of imagination (and forgive the fact that I can't make textures to save my life), but there's no way you could do regular UK troops without mod tools. Thanks for the comment btw Commando84. My specs are AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200, 1024MB RAM, NVidia 7900 GT 256MB. ArmA (German 1.0 borrowed off a work collegue 'til he upgrades his system) runs pretty smoothly on a mix of normal-high settings as long as I'm not looking at a forrest, in which case the performance goes to shit, even if I knock object detail and terrain detail down to low/very low. Hope the 505 release runs a bit better.

Quite hard to make really decent UK troops without modding tools. The only thing that can be done right now is retexturing of existing ArmA troop models, which simply don't cut it as British forces: the helmets are wrong, the body armour's wrong and the load bearing kit is wrong. They'll just look like US troops in DPM (or at a push, Dutch). All the reskins released so far at least have PASGT-style helmets in common for the countries they're representing so look reasonably accurate. Nice screens btw fellas. Might do a few myself later.

It's a Chieftain. The rear drive-sprocket's that of a Chieftain anyway.

A type of golden orb-weaving spider. Not sure of the exact type though. Looking at google, it looks most like Nephila plumipes out of the species that live in Aus.

I myself would have simplified this a bit by saying --- go for --- --- The first sentence should read something like To qualify the use of 'their' in the second sentence. Otherwise there isn't an indication of who 'they' are. ---- hierarchal -> hierarchical --- I'd remove "to sing about" and change the last bit to "are one and the same." or just remove the "in". --- change to Then maybe qualify the statement by putting an example of how limited it has become such as mentioning family photos, home video (possibly discuss the merits of these mediums as art) etc. Only if you think it's relevant within the context of the essay though. --- Congrats on the Nephew mate. And good luck with your studies.

505's ArmA Special Edition - What ya want?
da12thMonkey replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I reckon the SE version should contain an additional CD/DVD with the soundtrack, editing tools and maybe video introductory tutorials for the BIS tools would be handy. Be good if all this was available online at a later date though. A sew-on brigade badge like the troops wear in the game would be pretty cool I reckon (the little black demon thing). Other than that, the most frequent suggestions in the thread; a Sahrani map+compass, military guide (similar to an Osprey book, or as a CD-ROM on the bonus CD mentioned above), clothing like a hat or T-shirt and a special case like an ammo or jerry can would make for a nice package. -
Yes. There also appears to be a G36c in the game looking at the video where they rescue the banana bloke in the yellow shirt. Anyone know what these scoped rifles are? http://www.coop-center.de/site/uploads/newspics/arma19906-9.jpg http://www.coop-center.de/site/uploads/newspics/arma19906-24.jpg Mk.12 SPR?

Really? Why are they only targeting Christian symbols then: nuns, churches effigies of the pope etc? Most of the protester's placards I've seen on TV have either had the word 'Christian' or 'Pope' on them. If they were chucking the entire west in as well, they'd have been at least burning US flags, a McDonalds or some shit like. They usually blame anything they see as trouble caused by Westerners on the US or Israel, regardless of how much they were involved. Admitedly they've ballsed up a bit in burning non-catholic churches, since the Pope's the head of the Catholic church only, but I bet very few of us could tell the difference between Mosques of different Islamic sects. Seems to me that most of the lumping together of Christianity and Western states is being done by westerners themselves. A lot of the posts I've seen on various forums about this smack of the 'us Vs them' attitude, when I doubt half the people posting them have been to church once in their life, let alone a identify themselves as Catholic. I personally don't really care what the Pope said, if it was taken out of context or how many churches get burned down (as long as nobody's hurt) since I'm not a Christian.

That's a Mustang GT, not a Ford GT. Ford GTs are much prettier.

AFAIK the Thor system hasn't been ordered by the British Army so it's highly unlikely that UKF'll make it unless the MoD decide to procure it. Other Starstreak systems that are in service, have been suggested in the past, none are being worked on at this time as right now, current projects have priority over new projects.

6.8mm SPC M4 In Desert Camo Vers 0.9
da12thMonkey replied to Blackbuck's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Nice weapon, good work. I noticed that HH_DM4Mag carries 30 rounds instead of the 25 it says it should have though. Also, can you make the reticule in the optics view 'glow' so it can be seen in low-light, I can't really use them at night at the moment. -
I was going to suggest the same thing. The OFPL Mi-8/17 model's great, and isn't very demanding specs wise. Looking forward to this Ebud.

I don't see any USAF logo on it? If you mean the star and bars roundel, it's not specific to the USAF. Admitedly, the Harrier should have MARINES written on one of the wings (and at the base of the vertical stabiliser AFAIK), but the roundel should still be on t'other wing. BIS probably have both wings mapped to the same portion of there texture so both wings are the same.

I'm a Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) supporter. Up until I was about 17 I used to go to at least 1 match a month but since then, my interest in following football has diminished. I'm not expecting anything much this season (we usually linger around mid-upper table). However, this season may be particularly bad as we lost 12 players, a chairman, a director and our former manager; bonkers, ex-England boss Glen Hoddl) over the summer. Though we have a new manager Mick Mccarthy (used to be boss of the Republic of Ireland's international team). I IRC our transfer budget was also cut. Not a great pre-season.

Mine comes from a movie. Originally it was just 12thMonkey, the 'da' bit was added by a 1337Sp34king troll who used to come on the IRC channel of a Max Payne community site I used to help run, and berate me for being British (at least I think that was the reason, as he always told me he was going to 'nuke my British ass' before we kicked-banned him). mIRC never used to let you have usernames that started with numbers so I decided to add the 'da' to avoid people not knowing who I was on the channel (before I just used my real-life surname on the channel as it's how my friends have always refered to me), and as a tribute to our troll and the countless times his abuse made me chuckle.

Thanks Placebo (and the rest of BIS ofcourse). I was expecting a competitions of some sort, the 150 char bit's racking my brain a bit. Some interesting pics in the ArmA section of the Wiki... Good luck with the wedding and that btw.

Spetsnaz Mod's RPG pack was released by ORCS, IIRC someone at SFM sold it to them. So if you have ORCS' RPG pack, you have the RPG pack you wanted.
