A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!
da12thMonkey replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
look in \ArmA\Dta\ACE\ace_keys.hpp it lists them all. I've noticed in there though that it says I assume this is for the Su-34? Currently though, the left shift key is bound to flare launchers in aircraft so the afterburner bind is overwritten by ACE itself. The team might want to look at changing the default bind if afterburners are still a feature. Anyway, I've played ACE intermittently between visiting relatives, getting sloshed and expanding my waist-band, and I must say I love it! I'm still yet to sit down for a serious mission either in SP or MP with the mod, but I've enjoyed just messing around with the features in the editor immensely. The MG recoil added to vehicles is really excellent, and I was so happy to finally be able to fire AT weapons standing up. I can't believe I never tried WGL all those years I played OFP, after playing ACE. -
Yes. Drag the object around with LMB, then while doing this, hold RMB and move the mouse around to rotate the object.

What can I say? Flying a big chopper like a Puma into a town, twin GPMG's blazing, popping flares, landing on the roof of a building and unloading a few crates of ammo for some infantry bods: It's quite an experience to finally have this in ArmA Models are excellent, textures are pretty damn good even though they're not finished in places, sounds are nice, flies excellently too. Good work for a 'beta' . Same goes for Lynx but I don't think I should spam up both threads with generic praise. Only additional bug I've experienced is that I get a faint rotor sound upon exiting the chopper at the start of a session even though the engines are off. IIRC there was a similar bug with Eric's Hind. I'll keep an eye out for other stuff when I do some more extensive testing of the cargo system.

Haven't got time to try all this out 'til tomorrow fellas (and currently I'm in no fit state to fly virtual aircraft). However, I assure you that I've already got a massive grin on my face, just from being able get my grubby paws on some of your work finally. I'm sure I'll be lavishing plenty of praise on you guys tomorrow if I catch you online, but hopefully you'll be taking it easy instead ('bout time eh Rock?). In the mean time though; Rock, Vix, UNN thanks a lot for all your hard work and for just being a sound set of blokes in general. Merry Christmas .

LAW-80's pretty ancient now; all the rockets we had were coming to the end of their service life, and technologically it's outdated (they were bloody huge and didn't have a reduced back-blast system, so couldn't be used in confined spaces), so we opted to replace them with Saab NLAW/MBT LAW/RB-57 around 2001. ILAW (Saab AT-4 CS) is a UOR system, purchased as an interim LAW-80 replacement in around 2004/2005 until MBT LAW comes into service (which I think will be some time in the coming year). ILAW has been getting plenty of use in Afghanistan knocking holes in compound walls, so I reckon we'll keep on using them instead of MBT LAW for a while because they're cheaper. However, we bought some anti-structure munitions in the form of M72A9 and Matador ASM, so no need to use ILAW or MBT LAW until we face an armoured threat again.

IIRC it's the mesh that goes over the top of the DPM cover that is choc-chip, but it does create the impression of a choc-chip cover. @STALKER - I've been told webbing's generally worn underneath Osprey, so you probably didn't need to model the PLCE straps over the top, but overall your units are getting better with every release. You might want to consider rearming your AT units with an M136 (L12A1 ILAW) instead of the LAW-80, which was retired 3 or 4 years ago now. Good work.

CoD4 US steam price 49.99 USD = 33.34 GBP Euro steam price 49.99 EUR = 46.43 GBP That's really bad, especially when you consider the CoD4's UK steam price is 29.99 GBP. UK steam price 29.99 GBP = 32.29 EUR = 44.96 USD

Thanks for the updated version guys. The custom paint scheme feature's great! I spent this afternoon making the Autumn/Winter variant of the MERDC scheme to match Fischkopp's trucks: http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=winmercduf6.jpg I'm experiencing a bit of an odd visual bug with the FLIR script though. I get these white orbs floating around above objects which I assume are light sources for the IR illumination. These shouldn't be visable, right?

Love this time of year; Xmas surprises like this put a huge smile on my face. Thank you very much, to the FDF Mod team. Indeed! I've been struck by a wave of OFP nostalgia playing the ArmA incarnations of these two mods, 'cept these are even better looking.

VXR and Monty are correct. Yes there are already hundreds in service. A number of them deployed to Afghanistan with 3 Commando Brigade in October, and IIRC we have some in Iraq too. In the end the UK should have 42 different variants based around: 5213 6 tonne CV(L) (MM) 376 9 tonne CV(M) (MM) 105 9 tonne CV(M) (IMM) 923 15 tonne CV(H) (MM) 230 9 tonne UST (MM) 81 9 tonne UST (IMM) 288 15 tonne RV (IMM) CV = Cargo Vehicles (Light, Medium, Heavy) UST = Unit Support Tankers RV = Recovery Vehicles MM = Medium Mobility (MAN HX series) IMM = Improved Medium Mobility (MAN SX series) Jtec's made a selection of different versions of them for UKF (AFAIK they're in VBS2 already so I'd have thought you'd have played with them?). Anyway, there were some pictures of them in our last official news update.

No. Unimogs haven't been used by British forces apart from a couple of older generation ones (U1100 I believe) used by the SAS in the Gulf War etc, that we captured during the Falklands war.
-
Okay, just the textures on them looked a lot like how I remember the FLK ones, as well the Blowpipe that was FLK's. Anyway, your Argentine character models are looking pretty good and having tried Vilas' weapons, they're of a decent quality too.
-
The Scorpion was retired in the mid-90s so it comes from an age long before the addons we're making. It's unlikely to be made for ArmA unless Bennyboy really wants to (the Scimitar model he made started out life as a Scorpion in OFP).
-
Do you have permission to port the FLK mod's Blowpipe, KAR-98 and M79 models displayed on your site, to your mod?
-
Really is an revolutionary bit of work, this system. UNN's a bloody genius. Any chance you'll produce a round chute model for the palletised drops, instead of the ram-air type ones BIS gave us (god knows why)?
-
Your videos have always indicated to me that you have pretty bad taste in music; but seriously, after reading that it would appear you are beyond redemption. Any idea what sort of range the Rapier addon track targets out to, and what range will it engage at?
-
I doubt there's any need really; VXR's perfectly capable of texturing the ArmA version of the HMA.8. VXR did the textures on Rock's Lynx Ah.7/9, Sea King and Puma models which you've already seen in ArmA, but the models are also in VBS2 with different textures, made by BIA. My understanding is that the same will be true for the HMA.8. Ed:- ^NVM, you've heard it from the man himself.^ Anyway, keep it up lads. Can't believe you lot still have enough stuff left to show in another 14 or 15 advent calendar updates considering how much you've shown already. I'm going to start running out of meaningful comments to make on your work without simply repeating that it looks amazing, every time you show somet new.
-
F**k yeah Seaking! Textures look even better there than on the sneak peak VXR gave me. Any plans for an armed version like the one at the UOR demo I showed you?
-
omg.... what is in topic title??? 1985 , not 2005 I think he's trying to point out the fact that only the modern M109A6 is called 'Paladin'. All the previous versions were just called M109A1/2/3/4/5.
-
Please ask those sort of questions on the VBS support forums. This thread is solely for discussion of UKF development for ArmA (Messiah only brought it up here because it has influenced ArmA development). IIRC, general VBS discussion is also prohibited by the forum rules here.

WIP: stuff you are working on!
da12thMonkey replied to adumb's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Heh, I was gonna post that. Also, the gas regulator on the Minimi (the valve at the front of that tube under the barrel) isn't on the Mk.46. Nice job so far though. -
Looking forward to whatever shows up in the next few weeks fellas.
-
Yea, but your question was stupid to begin with, given all the responses we've made to very similar questions. Manzilla's past two post are pretty much exactly what you'll hear from a member of our team regarding addon releases, and adequately reflect how we feel about people asking us for release dates or news updates. Regards, UKF

Beret looks a bit large/floppy on the 4th bloke along, otherwise they all look fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to FDF for ArmA gentlemen. -
