  1. Luhgnut;1459967']Only set your command line to -maxmem=2048

    tis all ya need.:o

That is inaccurate I'm afraid, and there's a long thread about the infamous 8GB problem in the trouble shooting forum. Mad Maximus' suggestion works, though it's rare I can be bothered going through the hassle. A decent fix would be best of course.

    Back on topic.

  2. I tried OFP2 last night, and I wasn't impressed at all. It is in no way deserving of the name "Operation Flashpoint" and perhaps I'm judging it more harshly because of that fact, but it did nothing for me. I don't think it would be compared with ArmA2 at all if not for the name, it's much more like Ghost Recon and the like.

Side by side I'll choose ArmA2 hands down, or I would if it would run on my 8GB system that is. As it is I think I'll go read a book.

  3. The first few 190.xx drivers were awful but as of 191.00 they are really starting to shape up. I'm using 191.03 and it is stellar as were 191.00.

    Eth

I keep hearing things like that. What exactly was awful about 190.xx? What exactly is "stellar" about 191.xx? Not to doubt you, I just like to know the facts before screwing with things and 190.xx work perfectly fine for me*

    * ArmA2 suffers from the 8GB sys ram thing, and I don't attribute that to a driver issue

  4. Adding the -winxp switch will likely sort you out, though there is no guarantee it will fix it properly. That might correct your odd graphics, but chances are it's still going to detect your video ram incorrectly as you have 8gb of system ram.

Add -winxp to the shortcut and see how it goes. It will likely be an improvement, if not a complete fix.

  5. I picked up OFP on day one all those years ago and played it right up until the release date of Armed Assault. Sad evening that, when I uninstalled OFP for the final time but I figured onward and upward to Armed Assault. As it turns out it really didn't do much for me somehow, or as someone pointed out at the time... it needed some love. I screwed around with ArmA a bit on and off over the years, then bought ArmA2 from a place in France (I'm in Canada) as soon as it was available. Unfortunately for me I made the apparently silly decision of upgrading my system with 8gb ram and no ArmA2 won't play properly at all... on top of a host of other annoyances.

Having read this thread now, maybe I'll just reinstall OFP. :)

  6. For me I've found with or without the -winxp parameter, when using the BIS recommended NVIDIA drivers (e.g. latest) my VRAM is detected incorrectly (specifically VRAM, not RAM). Limiting to 4GB in MSCONFIG or removing 4GB resolves this detection issue for me.

As said many times elsewhere, I've got exactly the same problem.

  7. I earned myself a ban on the Codemasters site for correcting blatant lies and

incorrect points some people were making on there.

    ...

P.S. For the CM people monitoring this thread. Banning people for telling the truth and correcting misinformation just makes YOU look bad not the poster.

and as far as the ban goes...... I can still view and post through proxy servers so suck on that . Your wannabe Mall cop power trip FAILED.

I've been warned more than once that I'm very close to being banned from this forum. I've been earning "infractions". This means you are the anti-datter... please stay back lest we come into contact and thus destroy the universe. :)

  8. LOL, Datter. You're making me want to play 'whack-a-troll'. Look at your posts man, you have some serious anger/OT issues.

That MP video makes me what to acquire ADHD, or drink a lot of coffee to be able to follow it. The hype machine is just about stripped down of all it's armor. The truth will fall like a hammer (good or bad, we'll have to see).

Since you know me so very well, can we hug or something?
