  1. Great to see that the almighty UH-60M Black Hawk will make it's return in ARMA3!!!

One "minor" feature request (for the backlog of course):

I would love to see the HH-60M Black Hawk, which is the medical version of the UH-60M.

Simply a rename and a red cross on the side would already make it "medical", but having some medical equipment hanging on the back wall and the option to have 2 stretchers in the back would be fantastic.

    eg.

And yes I know, I've watched Inside Combat Rescue way too many times ;)

Blackhawk Crewchief here, spent 3 years on the HH60M, I don't think it is what you think it is. The CSAR bird in your pic is an HH60G, which is essentially a UH60L with a refuel probe, weather radar and cooler guns. And being an old DUSTOFF crewmember, Pedro can go do something not appropriate for mixed company.

The HH60M has a litter lift system in the forward portion of the cabin capable of transporting 6 litter patients (VERY cramped like and will likely never happen) or 6 ambulatory or 3 of either. Usually the left side has the ambulatory seats down. There are also provisions for two normal UH60M seats behind the right hand crew seat for additional ambulatory patients in a pinch.

Also, the folding stabilator on the xH60M is carbon fiber, not the ribbed metal you see on old HH60G's and SH60's. The crewchiefs have different seats from the ones in your pic, I'll procure some references later. And the blades look a little narrow. Other than those three little things, I like what I see so far. A lot.

  2. This question is a bit unrelated to this thread, but can still apply to the mod. I have noticed that all of the US Army Helicopters have black blades, while all of the USMC Helicopters have silver blades. Why is this?

Army blades are black so they blend in at least a little bit on the ground in the field, just like with the rest of the paintjob. Gotta be tactical. I think its dumb, but I'm not in charge.

The USMC, Navy and Airforce aircraft are painted gray to blend in with the sky better because they never park off of a flight-line or boat.

  3. will you release it at least today ?

The ball is in Valve's court at this point; it is a Steam issue, not a BIS issue.

I've been waiting to see Tanoa on the Dev change log for ages, I'm excited to finally get to fly around it.

just switched to my other pc:

Simply beautiful, my household goods finally arrives today and I get my desktop back. What GPU are you running, if you don't mind me asking?

  4. FYI your first three photobucket image links aren't working (since photobucket is a jerk), though I can see the other pictures in the album from the fourth working link or adding .html at the end. Though I'd suggest using imgur over photobucket in general — less problems with direct links vs lightbox page "direct" links like what happened here, plus imgur doesn't try to fuck you over when saving images.

I fixed it. I'm just too stubborn to move on. lol

  5. I'm loving the HK 416 with the classic sights, I just have a couple critiques to make them even better.

    • The front sight blade is a hair too wide. They're pretty close to a standard M4/M16 front sight post.
    • The shroud going around the front sight blade is too short, it should continue up and around probably a quarter inch.
    • If possible, something more similar to the sight picture seen in the first image below where the shroud just meets the inside of the peep would be awesome.

Thanks for all the hard work.

  6.

For those who can't see the sun, the sun is there.
In fact is the opposite there is too much sun, the light is too strong, the same for the rays.
Through clouds we can see it shining, even through heavy clouds, we can see the sun shining, the same for the rays.
Also through heavy clouds we can see the sun rays continuously expanding in circles.

    That actually looks about right.

  7. Thats actually very accurate, my source is almost having drowned :)

The only bodies of water that will be really clear as mainly swimming pools since the chemicals would be cleaning it, the constant maintenance, not to mention no dirt or mud.

http://blog.oceans-campus.com/Portals/288079/images/2b.shoot%20up.snorkelling%20and%20practising%20breath%20hold%20techniques%20at%20Paindane.%20photo%20credit%20Cullen%20Welch.jpgsome fairly shallow water but you can see how foggy it gets.

Generally I agree with you, however I think there should be a slider, just like clouds, for how murky the water is because there are definitely cases where the water is crystal clear or even more murky.

  8. It's maybe what bother me with this update.

    EDIT :

    http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2016/14/1460226314-20160409202458-1.jpg

colours are so weird that you can't tell the difference between the yellow taxiway and the grey ground.

Looks fine to me. When the flightline goes from black asphalt to light gray concrete blocks, the yellow taxi lines get really hard to see from a distance. Looks pretty realistic to me.

  9. Hello guys

i wanted to ask something im not really sure about. How do radars work on helicopters on RHS (or is it on all Arma)?

This is whati understood it, tell me if i am wrong. Apache and Cobra for example. The both share the same RWR radar, but one relays the information directly on the circular radar (which also give the relative orientation of the gunner view on respect of the hull facing) , and the other has a very very thin strip on top of the radar. Moreover, the icons arent relative to a radar lock, but a generic vehicle existance. I thought that to being on a radar you either must emit an emission (active) or receive an emission (passive). But if you place a vehicle whatsoever directly behind your chopper, here it appears in grey, and if said vehicle has a radar (say, a Shilka) and that Shilka radar locks the chopper, the icon remains grey, it doesnt give off the information that you are under radar lock. The only times when you hear a beeper is when a radar locked missile is launched at you (i.e. most of the times when it's already too late). The icon only changes colour when the gunner locks himself a target, independently of radar locks.

Long story short, there is no RWR but for that beeper warning on a launch, and the colour or the position of the icons are not dependent of a "radar" working, but its a magical Arma interpretation of how military aviation radars work.

    Am i correct?

The military has what are called EOMS (Electro-Optical Missile Sensors). They detect the exhaust plume from missiles, and can even identify what kind of missile it is.

If you look at the "UH-60M" in RHS, you can see them on the nose (The random cylinders sticking out). They're on the UH1Y, AH1Z, CH47 and AH64 as well.

    cmws-300x268.jpg

Here you can see the APR-39 RWR (Black hockeypuck looking thing) and the EOMS (Thing with the glass and orange) You'll also have the AVR-2b, seen below, that detects lasers.

    AnAVR2B.jpg

You SHOULD get a warning from the Shilka locking on to you, but then again the Ai might not actually be "tabbing" on to you. I know in OA you would get a warning if one was looking at you but you were still out of range.

  10. Hello! I've just tested Your mod, and it's stunning! Great job, I am particulary impressed with how well You handled cockpits and interiors in general! Breathtaking results! Russian helicopters are just perfect, the only issue I have are UH-60 family of helicopters. Their "LCD" display has the same problem default Arma helicopters have- it has dupllicated set of diplays for pilot and copilot. The problem is, pilot would probably want his "Artificial Horizon" to be displayed in front of him (or on the right display), while other info on his left (left side display).

Generally speaking, this is true. However, all of the MFDs are capable of displaying any page, so it isn't necessarily unrealistic. To me, this isn't as big of a deal as the hover attitude being wrong (And is a simple change in O2, rotate everything 3 degrees nose up) or the CG not being directly over the cargo hooks (Seems like every helo) causing the nose to pitch without any input.

  11. Just an idea for the Miniguns, it might be good to have an ACOG version, possibly for longer ranges?

As someone who just got done doing aerial gunnery from a blackhawk I can say with great certainty that what sounds good on paper cannot be farther from reality. You don't even use the iron sights; you shoot by feel and have to lag behind a bit so the bullets can "curve" into the target (This happens in ArmA too to a degree). This effect gets worse the more distance between you and your intended target there is. Even if you could somehow have an eye relief of like a foot and a half for an ACOG, you'd be aiming at a target you couldn't even see. Even a red dot sight is less effective than "shooting from the hip".

Also in regards to the MH60M, there are a couple technical critiques (More for a Mike model in general, I'm not going to talk about the MH60 specific things cause I'm not a Taskforce guy). The UES is shaped weird on your model, take a peek at some refrences I have on my photobucket to compare. The dragbeam fairings on your model are the Lima varient, the mike model are more square on the bottom to allow for the installation of the LWR sensors. There also shouldn't be a HF antenna going down the tail cone. Though I'm sure those are place holders, your main rotor blades are the Alpha/Lima type. Otherwise great work.

  12. Glad to hear.

I may be misinformed or stuff was changed, but doesnt the pilot in command normaly sit in the right seat of the cockpit? Because this way he can let go of the collective to manipulate the CDU and the other toggle switches. Let go of the cyclic wouldnt be the best move. Any plans to change that, or will you keep it that way that all LB pilots won't have to readjust from the vanilla MH-9?

    Best regards

The PC (Pilot in command) and PI (The other pilot) change seats all the time. Its really up to pilot preference. Though my pilots tend to put the PC on the left which is backwards from what it is "supposed to be". Not sure if this trend translates to 160th littlebirds from regular army medevac blackhawks though.

Wow, did not realize I was that far back in the thread. Anyway great work on these little buggers, I somehow just now got around to fiddling around with them and I'm having a lot of fun with them. Great work guys.

  13. Wow. These look slick. "Fully working visible turbine engines"

Maybe on a Chinook or littlebird, shouldn't be able to see it on a blackhawk with either HIRSS or the UES at all (You can't even see it when you mash your face to the top of the UES, much less from what would be 3rd person, and the HIRSS baffles completely block the engine). It would be a waste of resources on the hawk.

  14. Hey B00ce, as a huge ALIENS fan, i love what you have made so far. I hope you keep up the great work. cant wait to see an APC or Smartgun in arma3

The Smartgun has been the tricky one for me, I've started it over a few times so far because I can never quite get it right.

I would disagree about the rails not being a thing in the future. In the technical manual it does state that the M41A has a '3x power AN-RVS-552 CCD television sight'. And there's also laser sights, I doubt those would completely phase out.

That's true, I don't know what it looks like or how exactly it'll attach though. I 'spose I'll have to be a little creative I guess.

  15. Here are a couple critiques for the H60M that should be easy to fix in O2, I understand that the US helicopters are placeholders so if my insight goes unaddressed I'm not going to sweat it.

    1. This antenna does not exist on any helicopter I've ever seen. The area that the antenna is on slides forward very far and the wires would either break or interfere with flight controls.

    2. Please copy the ESSS fairings from one of the other H60 models. There isn't a single H60M that doesn't have this. (And very few Alpha models that are exclusively in the national guard or at the blackhawk mechanic school house)

3.The army no longer uses the ALQ-144 on their helicopters, at least the ones outside of 160th have had it removed. The base (Outside of the circle and affectionately dubbed the toilet-bowl) is still installed on most aircraft.

    4. This antenna has been removed on the UH60M.

    5. Please mirror the other side over, there's no point in having the mount for a refuel probe without having the probe itself there. (Another note is that the "wing" thing is actually the Alpha style, but I'm not really asking for that to get fixed)

Please rotate the model 3 degrees nose up for a more proper hover attitude. (The rotor head should be level)

For the paint schemes, there are no desert/woodland liveries. The F model chinook does have a lighter brown paint job, but the Delta model and prior has the dark sage/olive green. The Hawk has always been the dark brownish green, though you can't really tell the brown is there unless its faded or the aircraft is wet.

    Thanks for your time.
