I think people are forgetting how terrible the release of ArmA2 was. I distinctly remember veterans of the community bragging about Dragon Rising and how it will be so much better and how they're just plying ArmA2 until DR comes out. Then Dragon Rising sucked and they all came crawling back. ArmA3 is better than ArmA2 by a long shot in beta; look how far ArmA2 has come since the days of it's release. It will only get better from here. Yes, it sucks that BIS delayed the campaign, I get it, But you will have a campaign eventually. When everything is said and done, you all will still be here and you'll all be playing ArmA3. Just like the release of ArmA2.

No rail here, the ACOG is designed to fit into the groove in the carryhandle/rear sight, which has holes for attaching screws. The only rail that I know of is the gooseneck mount. There are also a couple M16a2 rifles with rails on the fore end, like an A4 without the flat-top upper receiver. However, budget constraints. There are also a couple M16s that have little strips of rail mounted on the heatguard for lasers and stuff. Its a weird hodgepodge of random crap that we NEVER use because we're aviation.

I was just about to ask if you were going to make a proper a2 upper/carryhandle. Any plans on making optics for the a2? This is my issued m16a2 with ACOG. Yes, my unit still has a2s; no I'm not Guard/Reserve. :butbut:

Correct, we use what's called A2CUs which are fire retardant ACUs with zippers on all of the pockets. There's also a waist strap on the A2CU top. If you want realistic targeting systems, download ACE or Mando. To "fix" things requires time and manpower, something that is limited. A game breaking bug is something far more important than a feature that replaces something that isn't necessarily broken. What good is a kickass targeting system if the helicopters that use them fly like garbage?

Using lennard's PSD template for the USMC/ArmA1 units as inspiration, I made a PSD and PDN (For those of us who use paint dot net and don't have any plugins) template for the independent faction's kick ass uniform. (Much better than NATO and Iran) I haven't done the body armor or ACH because it doesn't suit my purposes at the moment, I figured I'd share and make peoples' lives easier. I place ACE. There ARE alternatives for Tab-lock. There are NOT alternatives for broken flight models.

Me. Tab-Lock isn't such a horrible thing. You guys act like its the devil. There are FAR more pressing issues at the moment, like fixing the broken Geo lods (Poor Flight model) and fixing Autorotation. I would rather have a more authentic Flight model than no tab-lock. You can mod all the highspeed targeting systems into the game (See ACE and Mando). Fixing the FM isn't really possible/easy for us modders.

Create a new layer above what ever bit or bob you want to apply camo to and paste your camo. Move it around to create contrast between sections. Go to the layer below and use the magic wand to select around the section go back up and hit delete. Be sure to make the camo layer transparent. This is how it is in PDN, at least. I don't use photoshop, I just have an import/export plugin. To be perfectly honest, I don't fully grasp it and I have a hard time myself. -
Turbosquid is a very gray and murky area. Ensure you get direct written permission from the ORIGINAL author and give credit where it is due. The problem with turbosquid, and other websites like it, is that people tend to post models that are not their own, usually for profit.

CMWS stands for Common Missile Warning System, It doesn't do anything to spoof missiles, aside from telling the helicopter to pop flares/chaff. The ALQ-144 on the other hand, is a passive IR-missile deterrent; it is SUPPOSED to dazzle/confuse the missile and make it veer off course. However, modern heatseekers are immune to it and actually home in on the 144, which is a problem as you can imagine. -

The ALQ-144 has been phased out completely. All of our aircraft have them removed and a lot have the "toiletbowl" (the mounting fairing for the 144) removed too. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/0/6/5/1494560.jpg Here's an HH60H without the Discoball. -
You put it in the model.cfg. It would look something like this. class Rudder: Rotation { source="rudder"; selection="rudder"; axis="rudder_axis"; minValue=-1.000000; maxValue=1.000000; angle0=-0.375246; angle1=0.375246; }; Please bear in mind this is for planes, but I imagine it would work for a helicopter just the same. NOTE: This would also require you to create a whole new helicopter addon from scratch.
