  1. My first session with the latest update today. Focussed on one map and played @12 encounters. Not yet experienced all the fixes and changes, but what I have experienced delivers an overall improvement in my view. The slight concerns :- 1. Of the encounters I played I spawned into the same location 8 times. Not saying the update is responsible, but not quite as random as before and is likely to be just bad luck. 2. Having spawned into the same location I immediately set off on my looting route. The benchmark for available loot was set by my first run in an unboosted encounter. Of the 8 times I spawned in only 2 encounters were boosted, by 150% and 300% respectively. The odd thing was that the loot on my route was greater in the unboosted encounters than in the boosted encounters, in fact the available loot was at it's least in the 300% boosted encounter. . As I was mainly in one area it's not possible to say if the loot scenario was the same across the whole map. . Nothing else springs to mind at the moment. Anyone other outlanders picked up on anything?

    Teammate footstep sounds bugged

Just mentioned it in another thread. Quite misleading sounds associated with another outlander in my vicinity. Not too helpful really.

Jan 15th Update - First Impressions

Just finished a session and have a little more feedback to report. Decided to test my shooting skills and in my first 2 encounters I setup good bushwhacking positions. One in a building and the other in the woods. The sound that now announces the arrival of another outlander is very strange and quite misleading. In the house scenario it sounded as though he was on a pogo stick (younger outlanders may need to Google it), and the sound level was identical wherever he was in the house, thus it was difficult to know when he would appear in the room I had staked out. Poor excuse I know, but I was quite surprised when he entered the room and failed to finish him off. He made me pay and all I can say is lesson learned. Similar pogo stick scenario in the woods. I was trying to work out which direction he was coming from and before I knew it he was in my field of fire and gone before I could react. So overall the sound is a bit of an issue. I think I preferred it pre update. Did get a kill later and some good looting runs in the subsequent encounters, but the noises now associated with running, and other outlanders in my vicinity is definitely going to take some getting use to.

    I need a devs answer

Hi Hham, I feel your frustration. The initial response you received was particularly unhelpful and could in no way be considered as an official statement on BI's policy regarding teaming. I have made suggestions previously to combat teaming in solos, but they require policing, and therefore some resource on behalf of BI to establish time limited bans etc. Therefore I don't think it's a goer as it introduces an unnecessary overhead that should really be prevented at the gaming level. How? I don't know. It seems to me the game relies on the integrity of the players, and if some outlanders decide teaming helps them to progress quicker, enjoy more kills etc or for any other reason. Then I don't think it can be stopped technically. Would it really help if BI announced through Pyrit or any other official channel, that BI considers teaming in solo mode cheating. I don't think so without any deterrent attached to the announcement. I think as a confirmed solo outlander, I just have to get on with it and employ my current avoidance tactics when I suspect teamers are in the lobby, and to be honest, that is not often enough at the moment to diminish my enjoyment.
  5. Hi Devs, I wonder if you could look into a little issue I unearthed this very day. . I originally estimated that I could reach the next reward level of food donation, based on the fact that my Rat Traps are maxed, and my smoke house is at level 10. Enhancing my total food collected by 28%. (Ignoring my boxes of plants for the moment). It has become clear that I will not. I pondered for a while, wondering if maths had changed since I attended school some 40 odd years ago. But no, maths is still the same. . The maths :- Each Rat Traps produces 10.2 food per hour. The smoke house increases that by 28%. This equals 13.56 food per hour. Sadly whilst playing today, I checked every hour to observe the output of the Rat Traps. After 4 hours the total for each Rat Trap was 41. (BI kindly rounded the decimal .8 up to the nearest whole number, hence 41 and not 40.8). OK thinks I. When you collect the food the system does the calculation and actually adds the enhanced amount to my total. No.... It added 41! When it should have added 52. Sacre Bleu... As this miscalculation has been going on for quite some time, it would seem that you owe me quite a lot of food! . Same effect on my Boxes of Plants. Tested them as well and won't bore you with the maths. . I urge all outlanders to do a quick test to check if you're food producers are short changing you as mine clearly are. Devs, unless I have misunderstood how food producers and there respective enhancing mechanisms work, could this be corrected, for at least the next food donation cycle?

Rat Traps & Boxes of Plants

Hi Sakabato, Thanks for that. It now makes sense. Been holding off updates as I thought the mechanics were faulty, but your reply has restored my faith. It's not how I thought it worked but I'm ok with it. Thanks again.

    Disappearing crates

Hi Tee, I'm afraid I have to disagree about the ability to destroy the crate. The guy you came across maybe should not of gloated about it. That's a bit childish. However, I still think it's an acceptable tactic to destroy the crate. If you have an inventory full of useful items and it becomes clear that you won't get to an extraction point whilst carrying it, then I for one would destroy the crate to help me exit. I've done it before and will certainly do it again if I think it necessary. The only other acceptable option would be if it were possible to drop the crate. But as that option doesn't exist destroying it is the only way to avoid exit campers knowing exactly where you are.

Teaming in solo encounters - Yet again.

Just to clarify my thinking on the signal locator. Yes it is a very useful tool to outlanders who are confirmed solo players, but it is also an extremely useful tool for outlanders who team. Therefore to stop it being abused by teams make it work as the safe does. It can only be used once per encounter and to access it you need to wait for the same amount of time as you do for the safe to open. A message also appears advising other outlanders that the signal locator is being accessed. Therefore if anyone is close they have the same opportunity to get to it as they currently do when the safe message appears. Any thoughts?

Teaming in solo encounters - Yet again.

Xaphan, Good point about the signal locator. Things worked well enough before it was introduced. If the Devs feel it's worth keeping then how about making it single use. That would make using it much more tactical and stop teams using it every 2 minutes to locate other outlanders for their team mates to despatch.

    Vigor destroyed In one swoop

It's a shame your leaving Tom. I take your points about the cost of weapons and the fact that you can now buy weapon plans. But there are ways to boost your materials. Don't overlook gun parts in particular. There are lots to be had on the maps. Grind for a while, collect them and at the end of the session deconstruct them. Also, the plans are no use unless you have a workbench at the right level. Give it another go.

    Adding a less rural map.

Just to continue this thread. It would offer the opportunity to stock up on consumables and chemicals from pharmacies, nails, wire etc from hardware stores, fertilizer from garden centres, fuel from petrol stations etc etc. Even weapons and ammo from gun stores. Could be a quite interesting addition.

    Random gun not shooting

Glad you took it the right way....... Respect.
  13. Also, a quick primer for those who don't pay bills. I have had the same ISP/TV company for years, yet they offer x number of months free for new users or free channels. When I purchased my car, it was offered a few thousand dollars cheaper less than 6 months later. Amazon has offered free Fire Sticks (after I bought one), Vodafone gave me free airpods (after my son had paid full price for a pair). I paid full price for Ylands, now it is a F2P game. The point that I am trying to make is that Vigor is a free game. Companies are entitled to change their business model at any time. The money you may have spent (of your own volition) essentially funded continued development of a project that you otherwise wouldn't have. I was one of the first people to buy Arma 3 (before it was released) and paid an insane amount for it, but my contribution and those of other supporters helped develop the game we know and love today. Finally, I am not a BI employee, I am a community volunteer moderator, meaning, I do this in my free time and have no loyalties to Bohemia or their products. Good points well made, but like lots of things in life, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and also the right of reply. I respect other people's opinions even when they don't agree with me. I also make every effort not to get personal in my comments when people do disagree with me. . I happily paid 16 pounds and 99 pence for the privilege of playing Vigor, and have contributed to future development by buying crowns. In my view loyalty is a 2 way street, and if your still using the ISP/TV company, car dealership, Amazon etc then maybe you should look elsewhere for a better deal next time instead of wasting your hard earned cash on companies that show you no loyalty. . It's also clear in your comments that you do have lots of loyalty to Bohemia and their products. Paragraph 3 would tend to contradict your comments in the final paragraph. So neutral you are not. . As it is now apparent that BI have no intention of providing any crumb of compensation, I feel this subject has run it's course. So to demonstrate your new found 'neutrality', please find some reason to lock this thread and hopefully end the fruitless debate. Then we can all get on with playing the wonderful game that Vigor is, safe in the knowledge that future development costs will be covered by those outlanders who feel that BI's actions in offering the free pass, so soon after previously loyal Outlanders had paid for it, was totally justified. . Unfortunately I do not, and will not contribute further.

    Adding a less rural map.

It certainly makes sense that in a post apocalyptic world there would be war ravaged cities to explore and loot. Good call Riley.

Junior Explorer and World Traveler broken!

I mentioned it a related thread. If it is not a bug, maybe there will be challenges related to discovering a certain number of locations on a particular map during a single encounter. Or xp for discovering locations in the next Battlepass. Can't think of another reason at present.

    Random gun not shooting

Matt, quit belly-aching about the gun jamming..sheesh it's only loot!! You sound like a brat, like you have always got what you want and when you dont, you just throw a titty baby fit. . Just having a little light hearted fun using your own words Matt. Please don't take this reply seriously.

    In game sounds

I mentioned in an earlier post about a sound to accompany the drop zone being changed. This has thankfully been added and is much appreciated. I also asked in the same post for a sound to accompany the safe being opened. This is still outstanding and if you can find it within yourselves to grant this request, then how about something like a creaking door opening sound effect, to help ensure that the less focussed outlanders, such as I, do not miss the on screen notification.

    Weapon Plans for sale

Just browsing and noticed the AUR HBAR-T Plan for sale. 720 crowns. . The original mantra, 'This game will never become pay to win' is well and truly out of the window. The allure of the greenback eh!

    Weapon Plans for sale

Your workbench needs to be at the right level to build it, but you can use any weapon you loot, find or buy. As long as you have the ammo.

    Some type of .5 mode...

I recall that version. Your suggestion has merit. If I decide to continue with the game after the Battlepass charade I would support it. Boosters could still be applied, but the final boost values would only be apparent after the encounter begins. I personally would retain the signal locater, but maybe make it harder to get to and use, maybe in a similar way to the safe and make it single use.
  21. I'm getting this message when trying to access the site and any posts. Time to renew BI.
  22. Oldninja

    No weapon plans for sale!

I agree HomemadeG, The powers that be clearly stated in the 0.8 update introduction, that they would do all they could to stop this game becoming pay to win. However, this new opportunity to purchase high tier weapons will only suit long time players (most probably have them anyway), as any new players who purchase the plans are unlikely to have their bench levelled up enough to build them. And as loot is less, it will take newer players ages to grind for the resources. Not an excuse for making them available by the way.

    Latest update ...

I will give it try immediately. To be honest, after reading the announcement. My faith is some way towards being restored. Thank you in advance BI.

Might be designed that way for awarding xp in future updates! Can't see another reason Tim.

    Latest update ...

Faith pretty much fully restored. Radiation is now in between how it was prior to 1.2 and how it was after 1.2. I'm ok with it now. A very good compromise. Loot is a little more available, but ok with me. . I've focussed on one map since the original update, Grontheim, so can't say what the other maps are like. I will get around to them. So pleased with the hotfix that I've invested in the new armoury pack and bought a few more crowns. Hope my kids and grandkids won't mind me dipping into their inheritance....
