▶ What do you do on Vigor?
I am a programmer working on the character, camera, and tools for Vigor. The work builds upon earlier feature prototypes and placeholder and brings them to a higher standard.

▶ What is your contribution to the Vigor Team?
It is my goal to make sure that the game designers and level designers have an easier task to create a better game. For this, I need to research how other games implement features, develop our implementation, and iterate upon those features over several releases of Vigor.
Not everything I make is perfect, but as long as it pushes the project further then, I am doing a good job.

▶ What do you like about Vigor?
The tension of a match, you are uncertain about when things are going to go wrong, and you are always calculating risk versus reward.
You can also play differently depending on your needs, you may play safe and only look for metal pieces, or play aggressively with a duo and planning to get the airdrop or die.

▶ What do you want to see in Vigor?
I am not much of a visionary; better aim assist functionality, changes to the camera behavior, better vaulting and climbing, and better implementations of everything else I worked on. I learned a lot in the past year and a half, and now I want to apply it retroactively and make the game better.

▶ What do you do when you are not making Vigor?
Play games, do photography, travel abroad (this year Tokyo and New York, kismet), and several side projects involving writing, programming, and art.

▶ Did game dev change your view on the games and how?
Definitely! Right now we are working on replacing the ladder functionality to be compliant with all the other character improvements we made and raise the standard. While playing Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice I had to play around their ladders for comparison, I also toyed around with the camera in the Tomb Raider games before I realized that I could do this during work hours and get paid!
I appreciate the work put into games more now, but I have issues enjoying the games themselves.

▶ Your favorite games and why?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for their atmosphere and cohesive world, Dark Souls for their world and the lesson that you can do anything if you don't give up, Minecraft for being an outlet both technically and creatively, and Pokémon as a huge inspiration for any journey.

▶ What's your favorite music, movie, show, book and why?
My favorite music is Dutch hardcore (Neophyte, Angerfist) not to be confused with American hardcore; I love my electric and rough music!
Sadly I don't have the time to read that much, but I enjoyed Roadside Picnic by Strugatsky brothers and Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer.

▶ Is there something that you want to say to our community?
This is my first job and also working on a AA game, and I am thrilled with the player's reaction to our game from the first teaser to people playing it today. A lot of feedback and criticism is on-point, and I appreciate the faith many of you have put into the project.
As an insider, I know more what is in the works, and what is going to improve in future updates so I hope you keep coming back for every update!

▶ You are Outlander; humanity has fallen. What would you do?
Carefully scout Grontheim with my Vintar and SPSA and trusted friend Mazen.

    Bonus Question (From Filip )
If you were to make your own game, what genre would it be and why?
Challenging question! It would not be far off from stalker, and it would focus on storytelling. Your path through the game is yours, and your actions have a significant impact on other characters. I don't know about the genre but has first person shooter elements.

  2. Hello there, and thank you so much for your feedback.

The problem with friendly fire and teammates that are hard to recognize has been brought up in our community multiple times. Originally - we did not want to add markers/nametags above teammates basically because what you mentioned - it increases the tension and improves communication between teammates.

But after a few months with duos available, the complains still do appear so we decided to adapt to the needs of our community - so we are currently working on and testing new markers above teammates. Little WIP screenshot below:

    Hope this helped.

  3. Thank you so much for letting us know about this as we are still trying to investigate this issue.
Sadly we were unable to repro it.... Is this a constant issue? I know I might be asking for too much but wouldn't you be able to maybe capture this issue on video? As it looks like after you enter the lobby there must be some kind of event that gets your controls out of focus and causes this issue. Either way - when this happens try opening and closing the options menu, this should solve it at least temporarily before we create a fix for that.
    Thanks

Hey at least you can find a game I haven’t found one in 4 months and I try for 30mins every day, I don’t care if it’s game preview I want my money back!

    Hey jackel85

Even though I will gladly listen to any feedback you might have - you know that you are exaggerating and that is putting it mildly. There is no way you cannot find an encounter. there have been many changes done even when it comes to servers stability and prioritization. Please make sure to check that problem is really not on your side. If the game is not running as smoothly as you would expect Might I recommend clearing the caches on your xbox, full restart, etc. There's a chance it could be the Xbox has files not cleared out causing this issue. Also, check if you have the latest version of the game.

If you have any questions regarding the stated refund - You purchased the game via Xbox Store so you would need to contact Xbox Support directly. But it was clearly stated that the game is not finished and still being developed with a high chance of certain issues. And it is up to them to decide and investigate if you are really experiencing such a massive long term issue.

    Thank you for your understanding.
    Hope this helped.

  5. Hello there, let's jump directly to your feedback:

    1. Thank you for letting us know, this is a known issue and we are currently looking into this. Should be fixed asap.

2 + 3 - We will make sure to look into these. I have forwarded it to the team but don't know if it's known and consistent issue or not.

4.- The Bushes should have been fixed in our last smaller update but I will make sure to check with the team if some issues still do remain

    5. - We are currently working on some tweaks.

As always thank you so much for all of this valuable feedback!

  6. Hello there and thank you so much for your feedback.

    Regarding your questions -

The Founders Pack Items do not come in a bulk that is correct. By that we mean that you will get them gradually throughout the whole game preview - For now you already have your Crowns, Your Vigor hat (You can find it by changing your outfit - which you do while interacting with the wardrobe in the top floor of your shelter) and you also have your exclusive Dusting Hands gesture. The Vigor Shirt is currently a work in progress so you will get it before the game preview ends for sure.

If the disconnection was really caused on our side and you were disconnected from our back-end servers. You should be able to get both the loot and loadout back once you start the game again. - They will automatically appear back in your shelter. If this is not the case we will make sure to look into it.

We are also working hard on fixing the gunplay so stay tuned for that.

Markers above teammates are something we would love to add to the game. There is even a little work in progress screenshot in one of our latest dev news: https://vigorgame.com/news/community-feedback-free-weekend
We are also working on a new map - you can find a little sneak peek at the same page listed above 😉

Thank you so much for your feedback 🙂

Lots of us players enjoy single player encounters, so if you plan to take on clan suggestions, ensure it doesn't impact the single player experience.

Absolutely. That would create an unfair environment which we obviously do not want to support. We will discuss all of the possibilities.

  8. Thank you for your detailed feedback! Glad you are enjoying Vigor so far. I will make sure to forward your feedback on weapons and friendly fire to the team for further discussion. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Now when it comes tot he mini-map situation - we do not plan to add mini maps for a single reason - to keep the UI as clean as possible, but we are working on markers above teammates so this should help.

    Thank you so much!

  9. Exactly as you said-

All Crowns you have spent and purchased will be returned to you after the full release of the game. Thanks to that, we highly encourage you to try them out now - this way you will be able to test which boosters work the best for you as well as it will give us valuable feedback we need.

To learn more about wipe of progression check our FAQ: https://vigorgame.com/faq

Will there be a progress wipe when full release comes and if so how will you give crowns back to people who have paid for them in pre release

Yes, there will be a wipe of progression - there is an article about everything you wanted to know about the wipe coming your way and will be released in the next few weeks. As when it comes to crowns :

All of your crowns that you have spent and purchased will be returned to you after the full release of the game!
Thanks to that we highly encourage you to try them out now - this way you will be able to test which boosters are the most helpful for you as well as it will give us valuable feedback we need to improve and polish this system as much as we can.

Still no answer from a dev

Please keep in mind that while I do try to respond as soon as possible we have multiple social media platforms to gather feedback from and it is impossible for me to respond right away.

Depends on which end does the server crash happened. If it is caused on our end - you were disconnected from our back-end servers. You should be able to get both the loot and loadout back once you start the game again.
If the server crash was caused on the client side sadly there is no way for us to find out if this was done on purpose or if it was caused for example by internet connection - then we are unable to return your loot and crowns to your stash.

But if you lost your crowns but got everything else back - this definitely shouldn't happen. But we never encountered this issue our selves, either way, I will make sure to redirect this to our QA team so we can replicate this problem and look into this.

But please keep in mind that with the full release of the game all the crowns you have spent so far will be returned to you anyway.

    Hope this helped.

  12. This is a very subjective thing as different people enjoy different games with different features. But frankly, - Vigor is just Vigor. It is a standalone game with its own vision and goals. Thank you guys for your feedback. I will make sure to share it with the team.

  13. Thank you for your kind words and for your feedback. Glad you are enjoying Vigor so far.

I will make sure to forward your feedback to the team.

Many of the things you mentioned are currently work in progress. We especially want to focus on polishing the gunplay as much as possible. Other than that:

Enabling the Climb-down ladder animation is tough to achieve at times.

Was already tweaked in one of our minor updates but def will forward this as it absolutely can be even better.

On the map Grontheim Valley @ Cabin Ruins; You cannot walk into the front door.

Will forward this to our QA so we can recreate this scenario and look into this.

    Thank you so much!

  14. Thank you @The Lerch for your detailed and well thought through feedback.

I understand your concerns and you understand that the wipe is unavoidable which is an excellent starting point for a discussion.
Indeed we decided to postpone the release date to deliver finished and polished product which means that sadly(or luckily? Who knows)  it also postponed the date of the wipe of progression.
Now to begin with - compensation for the wipe has not only been discussed but it was decided that we definitely want to give something to our players in return. The size of the compensation will be then obviously based on the Shelter level you are currently at.

The wipe will be clearly communicated long before its initial date (2weeks - month) because First- We have to remind the people that were somehow able to completely block-out this information that there even will be a wipe - and secondly - we also want to let our players know in advance so they can start experimenting and go crazy with their weapon stash.

There are many reasons why we cannot possibly communicate some things too early. there are many articles regarding the wipe itself coming your way (Will be released probably in the next two weeks) so this is pretty much all I can say for now.

    Hope this helped.

is the honestly the only way

Yes, it is the only way indeed. In the previous versions of the game, it was possible to deconstruct weapons to get a blueprint but we changed this system so now they can be only found in the airdrop.

Would i be correct in thinking server priority now means that it'll search first & foremost within the players region for matchmaking before adding/searching other regions?

If so thank you, ive long struggled with quite high lag, latency and high ping so this is a gigantic change in the right direction. bravo

The system you mentioned was already present but we improved it and we also added a new way how to distinguish particular servers and we can prioritize more powerful bare metal machines to virtual servers in the cloud. It should still help, indeed :)

What about Keyboard and Mouse support? Using controller for this game is extremely unbalanced with any sensitivity.

Keyboard and mouse support is something we do plan to add to the game but only after the full release. As the game is still in game preview aka being developed - our main focus is currently on finishing and polishing the game, only after the 1.0 we can start to add things like keyboard and mouse support.
    Hope this helped.
