  1. I honestly can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening, I can't find another person with the same issue. This happens on certain Exile servers, but not all of them. The issue is basically just getting a hitch or small freeze every 45 seconds (Monitoring with MSI afterburner). It may not sound that bad, but it makes gameplay pretty irritating when its freezing every minute. Had to reset my PC due to Windows updates over a month ago, that's when it started. Never had the issue in the 1300 hours I played before then. I tried to fix it, but I honestly couldn't think of anything else to try, so I played on a server that didn't have this issue. That server did a soft wipe & removed 2 mods (BWmod/ Pedagne) and now suddenly i'm getting that issue there as well. I've tried different drivers, settings, startup parameters, etc, even different Windows 10 builds. I know modded Arma can be buggy, but a little freeze/ FPS drop at a consistent pace of once every 45 seconds (even standing still) seems a bit weird....
  2. Been working the past 3 weeks on this issue and I'm starting to run out of options/ ideas. At this point, I will literally pay money to the person who helps me figure this out. Been on Windows 10 Version 1607 with Nvidia driver 378.78 since April (it ran stable, the creators update gave me audio problems) a few weeks ago Windows forced a driver update on me and then forced me onto the latest windows version (1709). Long story short, I couldn't disable updates again and I would need to do a fresh install either way. I decided to give the newest version of Windows a try (1709) with Nvidia driver 388.31. That's where the problems started. >The problem seems to only happen in Arma 3 Exile servers, and different servers are affected differently. (Singleplayer and KoTH as well as a server running ONLY exilemod do not seem to be affected) (Other games seem to run fine as well) >I tested mainly across two servers, but I've tried 4 in total. Server A) FPS seemed to be normal, however it didn't feel smooth at all. Very choppy and stuttery. Often there would be long lengths of time where there was INTENSE stuttering. When observed in MSI afterburner the frametime would be constantly spiking up. Even if the FPS was fluctuating within ~5-7fps (Steady), the frametimes would be fluctuating as much as 20-40ms. (Screenshot shown below) http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Capture_zpsjgpy86wn.png.html Server B) FPS was again normal. when stutters weren't happening, the game would run extremely smoothly and the FPS would be very high. However, every 45 seconds EXACTLY there would be a massive spike in frametime. When the frametime spikes, its like a short split second freeze or like it skips a frame. (Screenshot here) http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Arma 3 frametime spikes infinity_zpsokjwd1bx.png.html?o=7 I tried another server (Server C) that was very similar to that, where the spikes seemed to have a pattern, but they were closer together, which made the game stutter much more. (Screenshot here) http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Frametime Chernarus_zps7snsmfzx.png.html?o=5 Server D) Tried a different exile DayZ server, game would run smoothly apart from a random frametime spike here and there. Initially I blamed the poor performance on the Creators update and the new driver I was using. However I tried using my old driver (378.78) with the same results. (Also tried 385.69) Disabled game mode/ gamedvr/ fullscreen optimization. I tried reinstalling 1607, I tried with and without Gsync/Vsync. I've tried installing drivers with and without Geforce experience, tried deleting MSI afterburner, etc. I've made sure Microsoft C++/ NetFramework/ DirectX are installed. Everything is running on Max performance. Clock speeds on the GPU/ CPU look fine, all temperatures are in check. No matter what, the two main servers I tested (Server A and B) seemed to perform the same. I play on server A regularly and I noticed the large difference right away. I've played a lot on Server B as well before and Its arguably the best optimized Arma 3 Exile server out there. I was always able to play before on the standard Ultra preset, 3K view/ object in 1440P. In Server A, I range between 30fps in towns up to 65-70fps in the air or going through more open areas. Unless there was a lot going on, it was usually smooth. Now I've found that I can be getting 50 FPS, but the frametime spiking will make it look like a choppy 20fps. I've played 1500 hours on the same settings, I know very well that server performance varies, but these are servers I've been playing on regularly, and I know the performance. (I also record with shadowplay a lot, so I can reference old video to make sure I'm not imaging things) For the love of god above almighty, please help me with this, as Its honestly driving me nuts. Arma 3 Exile is the only game I play, so It doesn't matter if my other games work fine. Specs: i7 6700k EVGA 1080 FTW 16GB Gskill TridentZ ASUS Z170 Pro Samsung 850 Evo SSD
  3. Having an extremely strange problem here that I can't seem to find anything about anywhere. Been on Windows 10 build 1607 for the past 8 months after rolling back from the original creators update (audio issue), had updates disabled but Windows 10 ended up pushing the Update assistant that forced me onto 1709 (Fall Creators Update). Still had the audio issue, so I did a fresh install of the Operating system to the Fall Creators Update (1709), installed latest chipset, etc drivers from motherboard website and Nvidia driver 388.31. Tested out my games, Battlefield 4, Rainbow Six Siege and Rocket League seemed to be performing fine, may have noticed some more FPS drops in Battlefield 4, but I've honestly never really played that game on this computer. Battlefield 1 performed absolutely atrociously (but we're not here to talk about that). Tried out the regular Exile mod server that I play on (AWG Winter Altis). At first I noticed that the performance seemed to be just slightly lower than before. But after playing for a while, I noticed there was always constant frametime stuttering. There would be small spikes in the frametime that would occur every second. This made even a constant 60 FPS look like 20-30 FPS. Ex: http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Arma 3 frametime stuttering 2_zpsbll0u7gg.png.html?o=0 Tried out a different Exile server (Infinity Exile) (and here's where it gets strange), I also got a frametime stuttering issue there, but it was different and a lot worse. Only here, the frametime would be constant, then it would experience a huge spike every 30-45 seconds. Basically, buttery smooth, then a small freeze/ hitch every 30-45 seconds. Ex: (Infinity on Chernarus and Lythium) http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Arma 3 frametime spikes infinity_zpsokjwd1bx.png.html?sort=3&o=2 I got similar results on another server (Premium Exile). Ex: http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Framerate Chernarus_zpsn7vvefsi.png.html?sort=3&o=1 Then, as you can see here, here is the FPS for Chernarus, even if the Frame rate is fine, there is still frametime spiking. http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Frametime Chernarus_zps7snsmfzx.png.html?sort=3&o=0 Then a 4th server a low population DayZ server had slightly less issues, but still experienced frametime spikes here and there. I have 1400 hours logged on Arma 3 (1300 of that being Exile) in the past 6 months. Game definitely should not be doing that, all of those servers are servers that I have played on before (two of which I have about 800 hours combined on). It seems like these issues came after the Creators Update. Things I've tried: Disabling GameDVR/ Fullscreen optimization, disabling game mode, tried 378.78 Nvidia drivers and 388.31, tried with and without Gsync/ Vsync, tried stock launch parameters as well as enabling nologs and hyperthreading. Tried drivers without Geforce Experience installed. Tried closing MSI afterburner (I only use it for monitoring and fan curve) Strangely enough, I have a Lenovo Y520 Laptop that I use for school (seriously I've gamed for maybe 30 minutes on it in total since buying it in September), and servers seem to have terrible frametime spiking issues as well. That Lenovo laptop has completely different hardware and even drivers than my desktop, so I'm confused as to why its happening on two computers but I haven't heard much about it on forums, etc. Specs of my Desktop: (No OC, temperatures are fine) (Everything is at Max performance) -i7 6700k -EVGA GTX 1080 FTW -16GB Gskill TridentZ -ASUS Z170 Pro -Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS) -Mushkin 240GB SSD (Arma 3 install) -ASUS PG279Q (1440P 144hz Gsync) -Windows 10 Pro, Ver 1709 latest updates. (Currently on Nvidia 378.78) (Tried 388.31 too) Specs of my Laptop: (No OC, temperatures are fine) -i5 7300HQ -GTX 1050ti -8GB DDR4 -128GB m.2 SSD (OS) -1TB HDD (Arma 3 install) (I'd love to run A3 on my m.2, but I don't know how to keep mods on my HDD while doing that). Would really appreciate any help anyone can provide! Going to give it a shot to try and fix this issue before just going back to 1607, since I know Windows is going to likely force me again, and I'll have to deal with it eventually.
