  3. From what i have experienced, some buildings seem to have "garrison positions", but most of them dont really have AI Pathing. Real bummer :-[

    Zombies & Demons 5.0

    hey, first of all great job on that zombie mod Ryan + Team and also great job on that spawner script -CML-CaptainMittens and bl2ck dog ! works really good so far. I am still in the beginning to learn how to write scripts and I tried my best to improve the script for my own needs. Maybe someone finds it useful or can maybe find a bug in my code: So i made me 2 markers attached to the soldier which represent the Minimum Distance to Spawn 75m (" _minDist = 150") and the Maximum Distance to Spawn 100m ( " _minDist = 150 + _maxDist = 50 = 200 ). (because of distance2d its only 1/2 i guess) The numbers represent live markers of the zombies. So the zombies only spawn in the red square and not in the blue one(_minDist). (number 7 walked in the blue circle after spawning). The problem:If you keep on running straight North, West, East or South you can more or less outrun the zombies, as they will never spawn in front of you. So I am still new to scripting but I tried to fix it on my own and this is how it looks like now: You can see the zombies now spawn in every direction from the player and not only in the corners. here is the code, v1: http://pastebin.com/qQbETJbw Changelog: - added line 32 (check if player is not in a chopper) - changed line 61-78 for the "spawn in all directions". UPDATE v2: Again, great job on the script, its really well written from what I can say as beginner. I added support for a "protection_zone" marker, so you can have a base without zombies spawn inside of it. It works the way that it stops spawning zombies when the player enters the protection_zone. So my zone is 500x500m. So with a maximum spawn range of 100m this means when the player is at the edge of the protection_zone the zombies are gonna spawn up to 100m inside this 500m protection_zone. But they will never be able to spawn inside the "skin-colored" square you can see in the picture below. (the black square is the deletion range((_minDist+_maxDist)*1.5)); so 150m in my case. So if zombie leaves the black area around player, it gets deleted) This of course does not mean there is a 100% protection from zombies: a couple of them might get actually lured inside the "skin-colored" square of the protection zone(lets call it base-centre) by just following the player or hearing gunshots from inside. But there is no chance they can actually spawn inside the skin colored "base-centre". So pretty "realistic" (Hello Zombies? ;-) ) I guess and you can basically lower the chance by making the protection zone bigger or the maximum spawn distance lower. here is the code v2: http://pastebin.com/eyCHy13e If you really want 100% safety, just create a trigger in the "base-centre" that deletes the zombies that follow you into the base. (hide the despawn with a wall around base-centre or so). Cheers JD edit: - I think i spammed this thread enough, so If some1 is interested in v3 or newer, just drop me a pm - discovered a flaw : there is no crosscheck between zombie deletion. this means the zombies player1 spawns, can despawn even if they are right next to player2. it only checks if player1 is further away than distance X.

    32bit performance is not great as you already mentioned. Test it on the 64bit dev branch. Runs fine there. If you still got problems it means you need a better computer or it is not setup properly.

    thanks for the update. I ordered me a 1440p 144hz gsync for now and gonna test it out. probably gonna switch to 4k in a year when its more affordable to get 144hz + gsync...

    Arma 3 and 21:9 monitors ?

    I own these: G.Skill RipJaws V DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-38 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) but I am pretty new to OC. So ill have to dig in how to properly OC my system, specially the memory.. But well, ill do a bit more research, see if there are maybe some new monitors coming out soon, maybe its worth waiting a little.... i kinda think about getting me a Dell S2716DG 2560x1440 144hz Gsync http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/dell-s2716dg-monitor?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs and then sell it in a year or whenever i feel like upgrading to 4k. Guess we will see some more 4k 144hz gsync monitors.... Going full 4k would mean a new 1070, new power supply, more cooling, maybe even new case... and then 1200€ for the monitor i would like to have

    i7 6700k @ 4,5-4,6ghz right now, gonna push to 5ghz with new cooling soon 2x8gb DDR4@2400MHz (not sure how far i can push it); 8gb GTX 1070@1835MHz(can push this alot higher, its a ZOTAC AMP Extreme 5 yr warranty), 512gb SSD was thinking of getting another GTX 1070 for SLI.... I mean those 4k benchmark is with tons of AA, but from what ive seen in reviews they say AA is much less important if the game produces a good 4k image....there is also quite a few playin arma in 4k on youtube with even older GPU's and they hit 60 FPS in SP missions, so probably will hit 30+ in most MP (maybe not on a 120 player koth kiddie server) well yeah, why get a 144hz monitor then? doesnt make alot sense for ARMA right...well this pushes me more toward the 4k display imho...
  13. both right now. i made a list in this topic but yeah. ill dig into the 1440p with 144/120hz tonight and see what they cost...but since i only play ARMA and with 4k its gonna be below 60 FPS most of time anyway.... why not get the 4k 60hz gsync... I never touched any other game in the last 5 years for more than a couple days... did a quick check, so 1440p with 144hz gsync + cost at least 520-600€. So basically the same money i would pay for a 4k 60hz gsync... Tough decision? Maybe stick with my old monitor for another half a year/year until 4k 144hz Gsync drops to ~700-800€ (is this realistic?)?
  14. ´Thanks for sharing your experience....yeah I am really struggling with the decision... 4K @ 60hz or just wait another year and maybe get a 1440p 144hz gsync now....many people say its the wiser decision...specially when I saw reports of 27" being to small for 4k when you surf / office ( scaling problems)...some say 4k needs 30"+ ... 1200€ is just overpriced when you see how low the panel quality is on those things...

    I am really struggling with the decision... I own a 1070 myself...how does it perform FPS wise on 4k compared to 1080p? You have to downscale it in some heavy missions / MP or you can always play on 4k and FPS still bottlenecked by CPU? maybe I get a 1440p with 144hz /gsync now and wait another year to upgrade to 4k? mmh

    If im honest i dont want to see another bohemia map. the quality is average and they do not fix even major gamebreaking bugs or barely have any kind of love or long term support for the maps. they keep on using buggy rocks and glitchy objects instead of just fixing them once and forever. Its time for some Major FIX DLC. and first of all the new standard of mapping is Taunus. Tanoa is a joke against it imho.... Tanoa is in my eyes some beta at least. barely any destruction of building or any object working, barely enterable buildings. no furniture at all... map gets old after 2 weeks... and jeez.. the rocks are even more glitchy than those from Altis and Stratis...

    yeah that is what im thinking. I got a gtx 1070 and i love it, so Freesync wont help me at all. So, here a little overview for the current market in Europe(correct me if I am wrong please): 1. 4k UHD - 3840x2160 - 16:9 - without Gsync: Price: from 340€ different models: 98 2. 4k UHD - 3840x2160 - 16:9 - with Gsync: Price: from 600€ different models: 6 3. UWQHD - 3440x1440 - 21:9 - without Gsync: curved Price: from 680€ different models: 20 normal Price: from 540€ different models: 10 4. UWQHD - 3440x1440 - 21:9 - with Gsync: curved Price: from 1200€ different models: 2 normal Price: from € different models: 0 sadly i never had Gsync before and can't really say if its worth paying the additional 150++€ for it...

    I am using brightness / gamma 0.7 to make it look realistic/good for me... you also can change this stuff on your monitor...
