The Unsung Vietnam Mod 3.0 WIP THREAD

I'd presume they wouldn't be able to fill it up to max capacity in Vietnam conditions. but then again you see pictures of Huey's packed to the max so maybe they performed better?
  2. just found another advantage of the choice to go with apex, french voices. with the uniforms and gear provided its pretty easy to create some decent feeling french foreign legion guys from the 1950's

    War Chronicles: The Forgotten War

i've been wondering about that, but then looking at pictures of the model 37 in real life, the barrel length seems to vary greatly. as an example just in this picture also kinda fallen in love with the second from bottom one

    War Chronicles: The Forgotten War

now you bring it up its sizing does look a little off...i think the main chamber is okay, its just the barrel length and mechanism size. unless i'm just seeing it wrong...hmm food for thought

Poncho's for Americans, and strung out like for Sanger positions and bivvies...wouldn't know the american words for them (someone please translate) and as like a bodge job rain proofing on open topped vehicles those are just a few that spring to mind.

The Unsung Vietnam Mod 3.0 WIP THREAD

in regards to your point number 1, unfortunately Vietnam wasn't the best of places for night vision, it was still in its infant stages. There was a bit of heated discussion about this quite a few pages back, but basically summary is that NV gear that did exist was very heavy, or vehicle mounted...don't know if the unsung team are planning to include them, but rest assured the quality of NV gear back then wasn't much better than the mk1 eyeball. number 2 unfortunately that requires someone more intelligent than me to answer.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Thanks very much, to be fair i don't mind calling them whatever the Russians want to call them (won't spell it right though) but yeah trying to work out how they would be used in a conventional warfare scenario. So i'm guessing for the Russians special purpose means that if a task comes up in their AO (for example this fuel dump needs blowing up) then they would be sent, but more specialist tasks the SF would be called in?

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

small pair of questions. 1) is the MICH high cut still used by US SF? 2) Your Russian reconnaissance troops, are they meant to represent Russian special forces...or are they like the bit between sf and regular troops?
  17. I basically know roughly where my country is based, then i find out the major things that happened in that area at certain times, and work my way into it. So for example most of Scandinavia was part of a union called the 'Kalmar agreement' so i basically threw us into that. To do that i researched how nations were brought into it (mostly by marriage) so i looked for any ways i could marry a daughter of our royal family to the danish family. used some creative license, and hey presto asteland isles is part of the kalmar agreement. I make sure to also go for as realistic approach as possible. So like in 1939 the German army was probably the best force out there, so it wouldn't be believable that the Astelandic forces would hold them off, and in fact most countries capitulated after a few days. so same with asteland, but that doesn't mean the odd fighter pilot or platoon can't make a final stand. I also researched and found out that the British commando's had a special company for foreigners, so i integrated some of our guys into that unit under Norwegian command. but on the other hand a lot of people thought that the Nazi regime was their kinda style, and decided to join them, so i created an Asteland SS battalion same as the ones from Norway and Poland and even the 50 blokes from Britain. Its really all about the research, creative licence and realisum. If you have any ideas you want to work through i'm happy to help.
