  1. In celebration of the release of the Community Factions Project, this is a simple assault mission designed to showcase the US Army Delta and Boko Haram factions. Situation: The United States Army has deployed a small team of Delta Operators to the Song Bin Tanh region of northern Africa to deal with two Boko Haram cells. Intelligence suggests upwards of 100 fighters can populate these villages at any given time. To the south of your starting position there are two Boko Haram held areas marked on your map. Your objective is to clear these areas. This mission utilizes the ALiVE mod for populating the map with enemies, user Combat Support and Logistics, and various other features. Song Bin Tanh (Apex 2.0 version) Saving your progress: Although this mission can be played alone, it's recommended you host a local MP session for yourself and not lauch this as a SP scenario. This means when you join from the lobby, you will spawn alone. To recruit AI to join your group, look on your map and locate the AI Recruitment area. Approach the satellite phone and you will see an on-screen prompt. To save your progress, use ALiVE's local saving feature, which is accessed in the esc menu and initiated by the "server save and exit" function. To continue your save, simply act as if you're starting the mission for the first time and your data will load automatically. To start your progress over, change the PBO name or execute "call ALiVE_fnc_ProfileNameSpaceClear" and then click "local exec" in the debug console.     Thanks! It’s no GRWW, because I have no skills lol, but it’s a decent enough straight forward assault mission, mainly designed for people that don’t care to use the editor, or want to learn how to use ALiVE and see these new factions in action.

    Is a saving system something you’re working on? Thanks for making this. I really enjoyed that map the few times I played BP and it’s nice to see their assets being put to use.

  7. Oh well that mission is old as dirt. Try another mission. I’m sure the problem is the mission being ancient. I’d avoid any missions posted on alivemod.com tbh. I think we have some updated ones included directly in ALiVE (look for the missions folder). I also have some on Steam. AuTigerGrad (AuburnAlumni on Steam) has a lot as well.

    Hello Reddit friends! Thanks for trying the mission. I use Reddit mobile which is very hard for reply to multi-part questions on, so let’s move this discussion over here. PreistLizard... Awesome! Any time you reveal intel, either by talking to civs or on Intel near dead bodies, or have anything else you want to mark (I like to mark areas I’ve cleared, for example) use ALiVE Advanced Markers. Vanilla markers don’t persist with ALiVE saving. To add an ALiVE marker, press left ctrl+alt+left click. To delete one, press left ctrl+alt+right click. Though be aware, these can be finicky when loading a previously saved mission and sometimes not appear. If that happens, exit the mission back to the lobby, select your role again and join the mission again. They should load then. Hmm. I don’t think I placed one. I mean I can, but just go to the Virtual Arsenal. You’ll see an on-screen display. Click “Arsenal.” Then grab one there. No not really. I agree it’s a bitch. Try to only request in wide open areas and keep your eyes to the sky. I do believe red smoke is programmed to emit from the dropped cargo, but yeah even that’s not helpful if you lose it in a forest. :) You can accomplish this in a few way. One, and probably the way I do it most, is to select “Logistics” on the ALiVE menu, then select groups and select a group to be delivered. Click where you want them to drop on the map. Before you click “ok,” make sure to look on the bottom left of the Logistics menu. Scroll down and select “reinforce.” Then click ok. This will make the group you requested get air dropped and reinforce the area. Also, you can open the “Operations” menu. Click on a nearby group, then click “clear waypoints.” Then add new waypoints. The group should then make its way there but it’s not super reliable. Regarding fortifying with objects, I do this extremely rarely. AI in Arma don’t seem to care if it’s fortified with objects or not. But for immersion it is cool. If you ever call in logistics objects (or even ammo and stuff like that) with ALiVE Logistics to fortify and stuff, make sure you’ve enabled the Logistics Interaction in the ALiVE Menu first. It’s under “Player Options.” This will give you an option when near a dropped/delivered Logistics object to unload it. It will also allow you to pick it up and move it (see the scroll wheel options). Its a live feed of what your AI Commander is up to. Yes you can definitely use this menu to make a strategy (or you can ignore it and do your own thing. Your call!). My favorite is the “mark units” option. Sometimes it will tell you of actual enemies your friendlies spotted in battle and is a great way to surprise a terrorist with a bullet to the head. :)
  9. Lol yuck. I really don’t think ALiVE is responsible for this. ALiVE doesn’t need to add a layer of ugly fog to hide anything, because it already has a better system in place to just despawn profiles when out of their set spawn distance (1500 meters for infantry by default). Not saying there isn’t maybe an issue here though. Just saying if so, I can almost certainly say this is not intended. Again yuck. I’ll ask in our dev Slack. In the meantime can you try to make an ALiVE and CBA only mission on a vanilla map (and post the mission here if it still happens)? Also, do you mess with the fog settings in the editor at all? This could very easily be that. Or are you using ALiVE’s weather module by chance? If so, what is it set to?
  10. @cmw71 I’m not doubting you have an issue, as I know fog is a constant PITA in this game and is constantly discussed, but what makes you think ALiVE is responsible?

    Pretty sure this is how he’s handling it now unless it’s changed from the beta test. Board chopper, select the option for AI in your group to board, fade to black, all AI are in the chopper.
  12. The classname is LaserDesignator. Not sure if capitals matter but probably. If that’s not the issue, you’ve probably rebound the ALiVE menu key (default is app menu key). If so, pick a new key and set it (I use the “home” key), then fully close Arma. Open it again and it should stick.
  13. Not by default with any way included within ALiVE, no. Obviously with Arma anything is possible I guess if you can code, but I can’t recall of any time anyone did this even on their own.

    Thanks, Haleks. I was really only thinking about the player human versus a zombie and nothing beyond that (lol so not like man vs human AI bare-handed death match), but I can appreciate how you want to cover all your bases for all use cases. But yeah, if the screwdriver and gutting knife could feasibly work for no-ammo situations (which is me constantly because I suck) without having to rip open source assets, that would be incredible, whether it’s human vs Z only or everything under the sun vs everything under the sun. The discusion on this alone is pretty exciting. I’m pumped for the first implementation of bare-handed bitch slapping. :) Hell yeah!

    @haleks My man!!!!!! I’m so happy to hear about melee. Fantastic. Going forward, in theory, would it be possible with this engine to expand on that melee code to utilize melee weapons, such as an axe (if that asset is available. Didn’t that one abandoned zombie mod open source theirs?) or (maybe the Ravage gutting) knife? Also, with fists, how many punches would you expect to take down a Z?

    Ha. Just wrapped this up and it was a treat. The final sequence is pure gold. Really great work here, this is one of the most pleasurable Arma missions out there.

  19. Hey can you reproduce this backpack on ground thing when loading a persistent save with just ALiVE and CBA? I’m thinking you might because I’ve seen this too. EDIT: I’ve seen that cfg weapons error too. Can you reproduce that with just ALiVE and CBA as well?

    @GEORGE FLOROS GR Wooooooow! That’s incredible. Nice work. Just curious - the FPS counter. For us OCD’ers that’s, well, interesting. Would it be possible to make that optional or maybe you’d consider not including that? The rest really makes a lot of sense, but the FPS counter maybe is a bit immersion breaking and unnecessary info for when actually playing? Players on the server might fall into that unnecessary category too. I’m not judging, this is awesome. Just curious on your take or maybe something to chew on as you fine tune it. Anyway, very sexy. Maybe Halek’s will include this directly because it looks great. Great job.

    3CB BAF Vehicles

    Hi 3CB team. Thanks for the update. I do still seem to be getting this pop-up script error: Assuming this one might be Weapons related? Would make sense based on the error. I posted this one along with another a few months back and seem to recall being told they were Vehicles related (the other one is fixed now though from what I can tell so far so thanks for that). Knowing you guys it’s probably on your radar but if not I figured it can’t hurt to post it again. If useful, I do have some missions it reliably shows up in if you are interested, though they do require a few additional mods. Anyway, just wanted to bring it to your attention.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

    @redarmy I noticed the drop in momentum on some RHS vehicles on inclines too. For example the HEMTT type (sorry not sure exactly what RHS calls theirs and not at home). This model has a tendency on inclines to reach top speed, and immediately drop to 0, then slowly raise back to top speed. Vanilla HEMTT doesn’t do this and maintains top speed (which to me is much more preferable), though to be fair I have no idea if the RHS model inherits from the vanilla counterpart or not. EDIT: I got it. It’s the M1083A1P2 and similar variants that do this and yeah I agree it makes them nearly unusable on some maps.
