The Normandy map looks awesome, I wish they'd make a Mossie sim as well.

Yeah, Normandy cannot come soon enough.

That last picture in my previous post is the Caen abbey, quite impressive.

In the meantime, the Swedish beauty is here :icon_biggrin:

  2. The AJS-37 Viggen is coming to DCS soon!

" In one week, on 27 January 2017, we will launch the Early Access of DCS: AJS-37 Viggen by Leatherneck Simulations! Leatherneck has created this masterpiece for DCS World, and we believe it will wonderfully fill role as a strike and anti-ship platform."

"The AJS-37 Viggen is a Swedish double-delta supersonic attack aircraft from the late Cold War. It was the backbone of the Swedish Air Force during the Cold war, serving as the main attack and anti-ship platform. The AJS is the 90’s upgrade of this 70's era aircraft, adding several advanced weapons and systems functionalities. The aircraft was designed around the pilot, with an excellent man-machine interface, supporting the pilot through the smart use of autopilot systems, radar and HUD symbology in order to deliver the ordnance onto targets from treetop level with high speed attack runs.

The aircraft is armed with multiple weapon systems ranging from programmable stand-off weapons such as the RB-15F anti-ship missile to the BK90 Cluster munitions dispenser to various bombs, rockets and missiles for a wide range of target types. The aircraft can also carry gun pods and the Sidewinder series of infrared-guided missiles for air defense and self-protection purposes."

We have also included several new images of this lovely new module.
Leatherneck has also made a draft of the manual.
Pre-purchase the module now and save 20% before it’s released for Early Access: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/viggen/

  3. Not that I really believe in the conspiracy theory, but the story of William Rodriguez, one of the WTC janitor, is quite...well, I'll let you be the judge:

    http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/1219050.interview_the_untold_story_of_september_11/

Also, and I'm just playing the devil advocate here, you guys claim such a big secret would be impossible to hold for such a long time.

But have you considered the possibility that all those involved in the preparation  of the attacks, died that day ?

Several independant cells, each one responsible of one target. The "pentagon cell" would be in charge of the attacks on the WTC and the flight 93, the WTC cell would be in charge of the pentagon attacks, etc.

Or maybe they were in the planes ?

I don't know, more than 3000 people died on 9/11. So, if there's one day where you can make a lot of "unconvenient" people disappear, there's no better day.

  4. who of us here got to vote for Junker? or even his party?

The commission president is elected by the EU parliament which members are themselves elected by the EU citizens.

As someone who holds democracy so dearly in his heart, I'm sure you've participated in the last EU elections, right ?

    • The 3D cockpit is complete.
    • All aircraft systems are accurately simulated in high detail.
    • A new engine compressor model has been implemented based on accurate blade load calculations. The new model provides a very accurate simulation of compressor guiding unit functionality and an expanded range of engine operation modes (high and low compressor stalls and compressor operating in windmill mode).
    • The radar, optical sight, jettison system, gun use, launching of air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground rocket use, and flare and chaff countermeasures are integrated into the model and the aircraft's Weapon Control System (WCS). All the above-mentioned items are now operating as described in F-5E operations manuals.
    • The Professional Flight Model (PFM): operational range of altitude and airspeed, acceleration with various payloads and G loads (in sustained turns and at maximum angles-of-attack) are tuned based on available data of the flight dynamics of the real aircraft; the model behavior at critical angles-of-attack (stalling) and post-stall behavior (post-stall gyrations and spins) now match descriptions of the real aircraft.
    • Flight manual in Russian has been written.

    Spitfire LF Mk.IX

Adjustment to the flight model of the Spitfire LF Mk.IX aircraft continue. As of late, most of our testing and refinements have focused on airframe, engine and propeller parameters in references to actual tests of the World War II aircraft at our disposal at The Fighter Collection.

Primary development on the flight dynamics is nearing completion and we believe you will be very happy with the results. We think it is our best work yet. Our efforts are now moving to the Hispano-Suiza HS.404 20 mm-caliber automatic cannons. These will include realistic ballistics for all main ammunition types used during WWII.

    Upcoming Normandy map :

Development of the specially created "DCS: Normandy 1944" map for DCS World War II continues its development at a fast pace. Currently, the main effort is focused on airfields with different types of surfaces (a first for DCS World). For example: we are implementing SMT (Square Mesh Tracks) surfaces, which were widely used by the Allies for temporary airfields in Normandy following the landings. We are also developing the possibility to place airfields on the map using the Mission Editor (another first for DCS World).

  7. Back in 2001, the western war on terror was limitied to a small radicalized group living in mountainous region in Afghanistan.

15 years, 4 wars and as many violation of country sovereignty later, we are facing a global war on terror and our enemies are everywhere.

And yet, you still have a majority of people claiming more bombs and more wars is the solution.

Unfortunately, it's a typical human behavior.

Look at the war on drugs. 40 years and more than $1 trillion later (some estimation even talk about 2 trillions), everything is worst. In the 1980' the US had around 50.000 people jailed for a drug related crime. Nowadays they are more than half a million.

And sure thing, people still claim the solution is more police, thougher regulations and more incarcerations...

After the 1929 financial crisis, the US gov. did shorten the leach of the financial institutions. Nothing similar happened in 2008.

After the atomic bombs on his country, and dispite the fact his soldiers were willing to die for him, the emperor of Japan did surrender

Somehow, even with the tons on information available nowadays, we don't seem to be able to draw the proper conclusion.

I really wonder what kind a crisis will we have to face before coming back to reality. And that worries me a lot more than any religious extremists.

  8. Just saw this on SimHQ this morning. A bit of a clickbait title, I'll admit.

    But very interesting nonetheless.

Scientists discover how to "upload knowledge to your brain" (The Telegraph)

They studied the electric signals in the brain of a trained pilot and then fed the data into novice subjects as they learned to pilot an aeroplane in a realistic flight simulator.

The study, published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, found that subjects who received brain stimulation via electrode-embedded head caps improved their piloting abilities and learnt the task 33 per cent better than a placebo group.

  9. It's here :)

The Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) has the largest contiguous air and ground space available for peacetime military operations in the free world.

The NTTR land area includes simulated air defense systems, mock airbases, and several target ranges.

The NTTR was also used for nuclear testing. Today, it is home to RED FLAG and other military exercises that include countries from around the world.

The NTTR map for DCS World 2 includes Nellis AFB, Creech AFB and the infamous Groom Lake AFB (aka Area 51).

This map also includes the city of Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport, and Hoover Dam.

Be patient though. If your new to DCS you're looking at a ~40Gb download with speed ranging from a couple of Kb/s to a couple a Mb/s...

  10. (...)at this time the Nevada map and the Black Sea map use two different evolutions of the terrain engine (T4 for Nevada and T3 for the Black Sea). We are still in the process of converting the Black Sea map to T4 which will allow both maps to co-exist in the same DCS version(...)

    http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2571277&postcount=4

IIRC the lack of collidable trees on the Black Sea map was due to some engine limitations, it might change once it will be upgraded to "T4".

Still waiting for a definitive answer on this.

EDIT : Well, apparently the trees will remain uncollidable on the old map.

  11. If everything goes according to the plan, DCS World 2.0 (along with the Nevada Test and Training Range) should be released on Nov. 30

Key Features of DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range Map:

    • 366,000 sq. kilometres that covers portions of Nevada, Utah, Arizona and California.
    • Highly detailed modelling of Nellis Air Force Base, Creech Air Force Base, McCarran International Airport, and the Area 51 facility.
    • Hoover Dam and Lake Meade.
    • All VOR and VORTAC radio navigation beacons.
    • High resolution mesh and textures around the detailed airbases.
    • The entire NTTR airspace as well indication of all sub-ranges.
    • Las Vegas, Pahrump, Mesquite, Moapa, Indian Springs, Boulder City and other cities and towns in and nearby the NTTR. This also includes all major roads, railways, and power lines.
Note: Customers that purchased DCS: A-10C Warthog while it was in beta (prior to February 21st, 2011) will be provided this map for free!

  12. The russian ambassador in France said to Europe1 (french radio) that a coalition with France, the US and Turkey against Daech was still possible.

He said the russian were looking forward to create a common "staff" (état-major in French) which would go beyond the current cooperation.

    http://www.europe1.fr/international/alexandre-orlov-une-coalition-contre-daech-est-encore-possible-2625649

Also, according to him, the second pilot was retrieved by the Syrian army.
