    Arma: Cold War Assault

Maybe someone could write an external program utilizing Fwatch to multi-thread the game's AI? Cold War Enhanced mod uses an external program for it's sound engine which uses all CPU cores utilizing Fwatch, but data packets for AI are much larger than for sound. Another option would be to use a network to try and accelerate the game's processes. I tried using ArmA 3's memory allocator but it doesn't really do anything for CWA (still have to change code to utilize more memory).

    System Shock 3

Well System Shock 1 is getting a modern remake too and you can already try out the gameplay demo (you need a modern PC to run it) and support the Kickstarter if you would like to see more of it. Homepage: http://systemshock.com/ Kickstarter site with demo: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1598858095/system-shock/description It looks and plays rather good and faithfully recaptures the look and feel of the original whilst modernizing it at the same time.

    System Shock 3

Looks like after more than 16 years we're getting a new System Shock game: http://www.othersidetease.com/dd36tr.php This came out of nowhere and completely unexpected and is quite big news for fans of the original Shock games. I'm not a huge fan myself but I also acknowledge it as "the thinking man's first person shooter" and appreciate the more complex gameplay it offers. They're also remaking the first Shock.

An open letter on basic ARMA:CWA support

That's because we don't have the documented source code and because there are no pro programmers taking a look at the code. Replacing the GameSpy master server ip with something like Notepad++ is no problem, but trying anything else is just shooting in the dark. I also applaud the decision to make a update for the game but I also hope something is done in regards to Windows 10 issues and in-game server browser too (that second issue is easy to fix if they re-direct the game to PFC master server). And yes, we all here are well aware that ArmA 1-3 are technically superior, but OFP had the "soul".

    Windows 10 compatibility with OFP/ArmA:CWA

Unfortunately Windows 10 does not like OFP/CWA too much. I've been having issues ever since I switched to it, including slow loading textures and models (blurry look), black bar on top, some mods refusing to load, etc. I would say that outside of an official patch that would fix compatability (here goes our hope :P ) it would be best to dual boot XPs and run OFP/CWA on that. If you're having graphical issues with the game it's likely because of the OS rather than your hardware.

Operation SHOCK (Full Mod + Campaign)

Is this OFP or Doom 3 engine? :P Great work man, that pre-baked lighting improves the look a lot. You could also go for some specularity on the walls if you wanted to further enhance it.

    OFP Addon request thread

Anyone has FDF Karhukopla's server MP mission collection? Thanks in advance. EDIT: well looks like I found them so this post can be disregarded. EDIT 2: post can be deleted.
  12. I don't quite know where the files are but they also aren't finished and generally I have somewhat of a mess with all the edited addons and all. ;p However I'm more into terrain making now so I could make some islands eventually.
  13. Nice to hear the mod still alive. I've been thinking about it too but haven't made any progress. An experienced 3D modeler could certainly provide some nice models, but perhaps some existing models could be ported over too if permission would be given. C&C certainly fits very well into OFP/CWA world, Red Alert theme in particular but also the other games.

    why play ofp?

OFP/CWA, the only game in series that is actually suitable for competitive TvT/PvP: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeelQyd9VTuCUZX0RLLryMQ/videos Assuming more people would play if the multi-player part would be fixed as it offers greater strategic gameplay than most other shooter games.

    DirecxtX 12 for ArmA 3?

Anyone seen this program: http://store.steampowered.com/app/384300/ They promise up to 17% fps increase in ArmA 3 without any need for DX12/Vulkan support. Basically the program allocates the CPU usage for games rather than background programs. However they say there is no real benefit on the high-end CPUs. On-topic: judging by these early tests, seems like DX12 strongly favours AMD CPUs and GPUs.

Legen Of Madness Open Beta Release

Yes it would be a shame if the project abandoned because it looks fantastic. That vegetation and monsters are the best I've seen in OFP. Looking forward to "Diabolic Experience". :)

    DOOM returns

Official trailer if someone hasn't seen yet (gore galore ;p): Not fully convinced on the melee mechanic but I think it will still be fun for those that like mindless violent shooters and provide a challenge to veterans on the higher difficulty levels.

    A brief look at Vulkan.

There's like zero chance for that considering FB is owned by EA and they don't license it out to other devs and I'm pretty sure BI wouldn't want to completely rewrite their code just to work on a foreign engine. Besides, why would you want to downgrade to that engine? What does it do better than Real Virtuality? More flashy graphics and scripted destruction? Can it do massive terrains, complex AI and detailed simulation models? Perhaps so, but there sure aren't any games out there demonstrating it. EA doesn't even allow modding of their titles so you'd be relegated to a super limited experience which is the opposite to what ArmA represents. A much more logical alternative to RV engine would be Outerra engine but realistically speaking, it's Enfusion.

    A brief look at Vulkan.

Vulkan 1.0 released: https://www.khronos.org/vulkan/ Let's hope BI support it and there will be a notable fps increase in ArmA.

Legen Of Madness Open Beta Release

Well I played it with another person in MP and we came to the big city where the big "spider" monster was but we got killed. Although there is respawn in MP and it takes you to some nearby place where there is a vehicle with rockets. AFAIK there are no MP servers for the mod and I hosted it on my own server.

    quick video card question

This is normal as the game can't adress more RAM, hence the common "out of memory" errors if you push the game too much. I did a CWA benchmark recently as I was motivated to find out if the game can use more than 1 CPU core like some older games can, turned out there is no difference at all if it's ran on one or more CPU cores and I also found out that general CPU utilization is rather low (up to 30% max per individual core). As for your case, I guess downgrading to XPs could help. Other than that, I would really suggest a Intel CPU over a AMD one as they have far better single-threaded performance. This applys to the whole ArmA series, as AMD just isn't a very good choice for it. If you're low on budget, I'd suggest getting a G3258 and overclocking the heck out of it. You will get basically the same performance as with a much more expensive i5 or i7 in heavily single-threaded applications and games but for a fraction of the cost.

    DirecxtX 12 for ArmA 3?

It appears to me only Skylake's HD 500 chips are fully compatible with DX12. How all this will affect ArmA 3 I'm unaware of.

    Virtual Reality and Arma 3

The Cyberith + Oculus + Wiimote combo looks killer for A3. One of the few games that would really benefit greatly from such a setup. The problem are, of course, the costs and required space. But they should deff. have this at game booths and maybe at malls and amusement parks so more people could try it out.

    DirecxtX 12 for ArmA 3?

Here's something I think some here will find useful: DX12 will be only fully supported by AMD R 200/300 series, Nvidia GTX 900 series and Intel HD 500 series. If you got a older card/chip, you will not get the DX12 features.
