jsrs_soundmod JSRS SOUNDMOD - CE.20.0419
tacticalsheltie replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Jets are all really quiet now; I noticed this before the big update today. Jets are about 2 times quieter than helicopters are the same distances. -

As I said earlier, the minigun firing sounds for most miniguns are still missing with the 30mm explosion sound going off when snaps from miniguns are heard. I'm still only running Arma 3 with the steam version of JSRS, so if nobody else is having this issue then I'm not sure why I am. I wouldn't want breathing noises any louder, IIRC they were lowered earlier because they were too loud. There's also a rather grating sound effect of rocks grinding on each other when walking on concrete surfaces (such as sidewalks, non-freeway paved roads, certain buildings) that's annoying enough I actively avoid those surfaces when possible while wearing headphones. Not a big issue but I think it'd be a lot nicer if the rock-grating noise itself only came up every 3-4 steps instead of every step. -

Most of the miniguns aren't sounding correctly; they have the sonic cracks per shot but not the actual minigun firing sound. The regular minigun also has the massive 30mm minigun explosion sound when fired at the camera, video below shows. All versions of the UH-80 Ghosthawk, CH-67 Huron, PO-30 Orca, Speedboat Minigun, and Qilin (Armed) have this problem. The WY-55 Hellcat and AH-9 Pawnee have the minigun firing sound. Latest versions of Arma 3 and JSRS installed, no other mods. Does anyone else find that certain concrete surfaces give off a very grating sound of rocks being ground underneath your boots? Runways do this and I think smaller paved roads, but the major paved roads don't have the crunching rock noise. I don't mind the sound by itself but hearing it every step gets a bit grating on the ears with headphones. Very minor issue though. -

After playing around further in both SP and MP as a foot soldier I have to say the sounds are amazing! My only real complaint is that the gear rustling/footstep noises made from your soldier are too loud. The default Arma 3 sound have a much more appropriate volume level. This is a lot more noticeable while playing with headphones but I still catch it while using speakers. The distance you hear footsteps is really good, on a grassy field at a sprint you can faintly hear footsteps out to 50M if nothing else is going on. -

The Gatling Minigun 30mm on the A-164 Wipeout has no sound both from outside and inside the cockpit. Confirming the miniguns have no sounds. I think this may be just me, but do the gear rustling noises seem a bit too loud? -
soundmod JSRS4 - APEX 1.2
tacticalsheltie replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Testing it in SP, and it sounds amazing. The gun sounds seem all great, the snaps are great, the explosions are great. The only thing that seems off are the jet noise when they do a fly-by; they seem too quiet for a jet that's going just 75-100M over your head. Maybe this is more realistic than I believe, as I have no RL experience with jet sounds. The actual sound of the fly-by is spot-on, just seems quiet.- 1214 replies

audio-technica ATH-A900X on a Xonar DGX and then some cheap speakers w/ sub woofer on my mobo (Z170-x Gaming-3) with Realtek drivers. Both have the same volume for vehicles. I can hear vehicles at distance of over a 500M for heavy tanks, several KM for jets/Helis, but when they get up close they don't seem to get loud enough, at least in comparison to prior versions of JSRS. The vehicle sounds themselves are amazing, I love them, it just feels too quiet when up close.- 1214 replies

Vehicles seem really quiet in comparison to the guns/explosions. They sound great, but they can be hard to hear even when nothing else is going on. It feels like an MBT driving 20M past me should be louder than about 33% as loud as my handgun. Also had incidents where BTR-Ks were able to get 50M behind us without us hearing them. At least in comparison to prior versions of JSRS they seem quiet, but if this is more close to reality than so be it. The same applies to jets, I'll have an A-164 firing his main cannon directly behind me at enemies just 100M in front of me. It sounds like he's around 2-1KM out in both gun and engine noise and suddenly he's doing a 70M flyby over my head and I can still hear myself think.- 1214 replies

For Those Complaining About The New Fatigue System.
tacticalsheltie replied to rekkless's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I love it. I can run indefinitely without slowing down while wearing 90lbs of gear. Now there's basically no incentive to not stop running as you never slow down past a decent job pace and honestly I can still aim pretty well even after running with as high an equip load I can take without being overburdened. I think running 4km non-stop with full load and being able to put rounds into a window while using a navid, while standing, at 300M instantly is pretty easy. Granted it's like one in every 3-5 shots but that still comes out to around 2-3 a second for me. The most annoying thing to me is the scope sway being the CoD super smooth figure 8 sway. That's now how scope sway works in real life. In fact, this smooth scope swaying motion is why I can put rounds into relatively small groups while fatigued fairly easily, as it's super easy to compensate for. On a serious note: this new system is less realistic. It's nice that they added actual equip loads to limit you from taking 200 pounds of gear, but they botched it up by adding infinite run. IMO the scope sway isn't that hard to manage even right after a run. -
Sound Issue - Fps drop when a Apc shot
tacticalsheltie replied to eymerich's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Same, this issue came back after the 1.54 update. -
If the devs decided to make it so every unit was invincible and nobody complained they may keep it that way. Getting our voice out is how the community can change development for a game, and it's in the developer's best interests to listen to their community. Especially in a game like Arma where it isn't a AAA mainstream title and a relatively small and loyal community keeps it alive.
-
My problem with weapon sway is that it's far too smooth. In real life when aiming a weapon you don't move in a near perfectly smooth "figure 8" motion, what I call CoD sway. A real human moves in relatively fast and short, jittery like movements.

JSRS3: DragonFyre
tacticalsheltie replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Changing the line "volumeFX=X;" in your profile cfg doesn't change the volume of the gunshots and explosions. Setting this high would result in the menu screen being louder than the gunshots.
