read this article about a porn actress. for men, it's an entertainment, but for those actresses it's not. it's not even a job. it's just another fancy form of prostitution.

incidently, a few months ago there was an article in LA times about first video porn. I forgot about it, but the company was called Vivid images or something like that. the first actress is now suffering from a sickness she would not disclose. in the article, there's a mentioning like this. 'these days, the actresses do not get paid as much as YYY. however comparing to industry standards, they get easier hours.'(*YYY used to date Charlie Sheen)

in other words, these women are tempted to screw their life and health up for some quick money. i also heard that shelf life of porn stars are ususally less than 1 yr.

if you are going to tell me that it's about supply and demand, shut up. i'm taling beyond that. i'm talking about social welfare(wellness-here i use the term welfare in economical term) going down.

What you are basically saying is that these women get abused, while doing their job. That their working conditions are hard on them mentally and physically. Newsflash, porn actresses are NOT the only category that suffer from this. Unlike others, some of them have a chance of making it big. Several famous actors/actresses started their careers doing porn. Now, how many rich kids producing mats have you seen recently?

I have problems feeling sorry for these women, there are people that are FAR worse off. Sure, some of these women get abused and that is sad. Another newsflash, women get abused anyway without working in the porn industry.

If people stopped beating around the bush about porn and recognised it as a legit industry it would get better for the women, not worse. Instead society keeps frowning on it which doesnt improve the womens situation. Same goes for regular prostitution. In nations were prostitution is legal I am willing to bet most prostitutes have it far better off than in places where they are considered to be criminals and outside of the law.

Watched this documentary on Ron Jeramy (called Porn Star), probably the most famous male porn star of all time.  In the porn industry, male actors get paid less than females, so just imagine how much the guys are getting.  The best part of the film was when Ron was trying to estimate how many different women he fucked in his life time.  Best line in the movie.... Hmmm..let me sum up my position: porn good, censorship bad.

Except for the highly dubious example above, no one is forcing these women (or men for that matter) to be in these movies. If people see it as a fast way to make a buck, it's their problem.

The porn industry has changed a lot in recent years, many companies insist on regular AIDS screenings for their actors, and a lot encourage them to use condoms in the films.

I guess I'm just one of those "people have to take responsibility for their own actions" types. If the actresses are stupid enough to have unprotected sex with some porn actor they know nothing about (in some disreputable porn studio), what do they expect? Same for the guys.

Also, I agree with many of the above comments: the more porn is regarded as a legitmate industry and not pushed underground, the more safe work practices can be applied.

Anyway, end rant.

just kiddin...dont freak if I say that in the US porn is compared with evil and sin, while guns are not. Quite a perverted world in the country with the largest porn industry worldwide.
