Can I do this or is there a mod/gametype that already does ?

I am a huge fan of the original Battlefield game and especially the superb mods like Desert Combat and Forgotten hope and I always felt that the way the Battlefield franchise should have went was down a larger and more sim like game but sadly that has not been the case and I have lost all faith in the battlefield games to give me what I want.

I admit I have barely touched Arma 2 OA online so what I describe may already be available however this is what I would like to try.

The online game mode conquest in BF1942 where you had to take a flag and keep it and the team with the most flags would win after a period of time after holding a larger percentage of flags but with of course larger environments and more sim like.

So basically for multiplayer it would be, spawn in a base (or a captured flag) loaded with vehicles of all types, pick your vehicle or whatever (go on foot if you wish hehe) and try and capture a flag (in the case of arma perhaps a small village ?) and battle to keep the flags.

If this type of gametype is already available then what should I be looking for and if for this type of thing I need to get a mod then what mod ?

Or finally if I have to create my own mod for this type of thing, where should I start in regards to making a mod ? any relatively easy to follow starter guides I should take a look at ?

there is something a bit like that called warfare

however it is alot more complex then conquest in BF

it mixes games like command&conquer , BF, and arma

so yes what you say is possible :) but already done on a bigger scale

Nope, Warfare is a gametype made by BIS themselves. I think there are some user made versions though.

well I managed to get a bit of online time ona few Warfare servers and its definitely along the lines of what I was thinking of.

AAS looks cool too, perhaps a good way for noobs like myself to get into Arma.
