ACE 1.5 Beta (Advanced Combat Environment)

Is there an ArmA2-compatible version still available for DL, or having just ArmA2 is like driving a Trabant among Ferraris?

Maturin, regarding the PGO-7 sight there are in fact 3 drop compensators in there, each marked with a different Russian letter. One is to the left, one is to the right and one goes down the middle. Each drop compensator works with a different family of rockets.

The PG-7V designation are meant for the left hand side compensator (possibly marked 'M' I can't remember, it's the one that can go the furthest).

The PG-7VL designation are meant for use with the compensator marked Л

The PG-7VR designation are meant for use with the compensator marked Р

The special rounds, i.e. the OG-7V FRAG and TBG-7 Thermobaric I think can also be used with the PGO-7 but you'll have to play around to see which compensator to use.

Thanks for the help, but it didn't work. I've changed it back to the original:

Did you change it to this:

Did you ever actually try to change the:

key = 220;

to another key all together? Look at the list at the bottom of ace_keys.hpp and pick a new key, anyone that's not being used. Are you using the key right? You need to be looking at the player you want to interact with, and be close.

Hey, yeah call me a noob if you want but I got a problem, for some reason I can't load all my previously saved user-created missions from the editor they wouldn't load ever since I installed ACE2, now I'm not talking about the PBO file but rather the SQM files, now this normally wouldn't bother me but I just downloaded some awesome FOB templates and I want to put them to use. Ive been searching around on this furum and I figured that this will be the best place to ask, any help regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Yes they all work (Shift-F for weapon placement etc).

I've changed the keys to Y and U and everything is working now:)

Wait... isn't V1.3 for A2 only? Just no more support for only A2 going forward but you can still use v1.3, that was my impression. Good thing I have OA too. ;)

How do I install ACE2 1.3 - I hear I cannot use Six updater - Iv tried, nothing gets changed . I downloaded each of the 4 1.3 ACE2 modules and replaced the original ACE ones in my ARMA2 folder, now ACE doesnt get launched ? - the target line has stayed the same as the folders names havent changed ...

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@LandTex3 -nosplash -mod=@modfolder;@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_SM;@zcommon_ace -nosplash

This is what I used before and ACE worked fine...

You have 2 lines that start with:

-mod=

and

-nosplash

remove one of each.

Manzilla - thanks for help but no joy still - ACE will not load although I have replaced the original ACE folders, strange really. Replaced both the lines you mentioned. The six updater must have installed the orignal ACE in a special way.

I've made a small mission (OA desert island) which displays the key number in the sidechat when you press a key.

Manzilla - Im a dumbass, left out the @ACE folder ...cheers.

I do have a popup about my user config keys any ideas - The new sounds ROCK ! - those cracks are exactly what you see on the news reports , I wondered why they never really captured them in game...,

Yep, and iirc the OG7 has same ballistics as PG7VL. Never noticed they added a TBG7 round as well.

And if you really want to get rid of the scope, there's always addWeapon and removeWeapon

Hi guys if i dld the latest version of yoma tools can I get all the ace files needed for Arma 2 and OA?

@papoose244: yes you can. Look for kelly-heroes e.g. they host the needed files for yoma

I have a question myself. If i place a ACE ammunition box - for example US-special weapons - i only have about 4 weapons (m249,m107,m24 and some other one) in it. If i open the amoury i see all ACE weapons. So obviously something destroyed my ACE ammoboxes - or is it a know bug?

I see only 4 as well. They removed a bunch of weapons in v1.5. Not sure why some don't show in the Special box but do in the armory. Did you try the Basic crate or the Magic Box?

Not a bug, simply the ammoboxes are not all updated yet and extra content is disabled.

I didn't know that. No wonder the scope is so cluttered. However, using your advice and the diagrams in a U.S. field manual, I still can't get it to work. I measured off 200m using the map grid, and fired each type of rocket using each type of ammo. The upper two targeting scales will send all types of ammo into the ground. The M scale, which fires the PG-7v (the one with best ballistic qualities) barely gets its round halfway there. Unsurprisingly, the heavier PG-7vl does even worse. In fact, you need to aim using the 500m tick mark to get anywhere close. The lower range scale, designed for the flying-brick PG-7VR, sends the other rocket types zooming off into the wild blue yonder. The OG-7 doesn't work either. I don't have a devheaven account, so I hope this helps them fix it in OA releases.

Rename the file and test it. Test it ingame and see if any errors occur, if not you can leave it like that. No need to delete it.

Thanks, KingHomer. I remember Sickboy saying it was a bad idea to delete .pbos, so I wasn't sure if there was some reason it could cause more serious problems than error messages, for reasons of interdependence or something.

Also the NAPA 'AT Specialist' has the PGO-7, the 'Grenadier (RPG-7)' doesn't. Surely if you don't want NAPA to have the Scope, exclusively using the Grenadier will suffice?

Either something in your game is broken or your doing something wrong. I just tested it now and the ranging is perfect, PG7 on the left, PG7L on the right, PG7R down the middle. OG7 seems to be a little shorter on range than the PG7L.

Huh. I'm sure that I'm using it right.

But I just noticed that since installing 1.3 I'm also missing ear ringing and back blast, so maybe rocket ballistics are messed up too.

Keep in mind some islands may have squares that aren't 100m. For example Quesh Kibrul has 200m squares instead of 100m, which would explain why you're missing.

Utes runway, and I just verified that those grid squares match the PSO and all American scopes. Now that I've looked around, I don't have any backblast, recoil dust and I have the UI but not the functionality of grenade throw modes. My only other mods are Zeus AI, Mando Missiles, and some islands, so the potential for conflicts is much lower than it was with earlier version when all these functions worked perfectly. The .pbo for backblast is sitting right there in the @ACE Addons folder, yet no backblast appears.

But I suppose there aren't many 1.3 users around these days. If anyone remembers any problems while using that version, let me know.

Edit: Like this guy. He has my problem with 1.3.

I'm on 1.3, in MP and SP, I have full ear-ringing when without earplugs as a soldier class that requires them. So something strange there.
