Need help with installation.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just got this game 30min ago from FutureShop here in Canada.

When I started installation it asked for the CD Key, I don't know where to find it.

I have the game box, the cd with the case, field manual and field guide.

Where is that CD Key?

I am not very computer freindly, so I need help.

Thank you very much!

Phillip.

P.S. can't wait to play.

Hi

I just got the game too!! I found the CD KEY at the back page of 'Field Manual' book.

I have my own question.........

OK I have managed to install with out probs Vers1.00

I download  check-file prog, no problems, version is OK.

I keep getting a common problem from what I have seen on this BB and elsewhere ie

'Cannot Create 3D Devise' after the brief screen of OFP

Then back to desk-top.

System

Win98

450MHZ

Pentium 11

Matrox G200 8MB card

Soundblaster Creative PC1128 Soundcard

Is the problem Video Card related or Via chipset in Bios?

As it is a common problem what is the common fix?

I have tried lowering all settings and reduced screen resolution

Will Version 1.20 fix it? (I am currently downloading it)

Is there a UK disc with this upgrade patch I can get?

Having paid Å30 for my copy I would like to think it will work straight out of the box..........

Any Help Pls

Sorry Philip for using your post to introduce my dire problems....I would love to play it too!!!!!

Regards

Sorry, the G200 is not supported by OFP. You will need a DirectX 8 compatible 3D accelerator with at least 16MB of video memory to play the game. That's the minimum, a card with 32MB is highly recommended.

Hi

Gee!! thx for many replies! This IS active place!!

To RN Malbeouf: thx for the info yeh the dowload IS slow!! I don't know if I can be on-line for that long

w/o break-up in connection !!!

Mister Frg: Thx for the reply too!! I checked the FAQ for the specs in the 'Read me' file that came with the disc --------------------------------------------------------------------

Supported 3D chipsets

3dfx Voodoo 2, Voodoo Banshee, Voodoo3, Voodoo 4, Voodoo5

ATI Rage 128, Radeon

Matrox G200, G400, G450

Nvidia Riva TNT, Riva TNT2, GeForce 256, GeForce 2

S3 Savage 4, Savage 2000

PowerVRSeries 3(kyro)

This is copied from the file. Matrox G200 is supported.

I also found that 8mb cards will work from the 'avalon'

site actually this:

Boohoo! My PC Doesn't meet the requirements!

Wait a minute! You may still qualify to install and play OFP.

Are you using Windows NT? Nope, sorry, can't help yah!

Do you have another graphics card, not listed as being supported? You might still qualify. For example, I personally have an S3 Savage IX 8MB chipset and OFP works like a charm. How can you find out if your unlisted graphics card will work or not? Well, search the forums for the name of your graphics card or ask a question there. Also, try installing and playing the demo first. If it works, that's a promising sign that the full retail version will most likely work as well. Just remember to uninstall the demo before installing the full retail version afterwards.

So, it seemed resonable to assume my card would work?

Regards
