Best quality sound mod?

Recommended Posts

hi

ive tried a few sound mods and some ive not been very impressed with. There were some in the old ofp which were just amazing.

What is the best in your opinion , taking into account the number of new sounds/ quality/ realism

thanks

There are some great mods out there, VOP sound, HIFi, etc. Most of them are modular meaning you can mix and match different sounds for different equipment. I'd suggest trying a few from Armaholic or armedassault.info's download section.

Vop...lol...

Go ACEX_SM. It's the best sound mod(or was)

There's another sound mod in the making called War10 mod, looks very promising.

For Arma2 (not OA):

1. VopSound in combination with the other sound addons that vo.2 suggests. It has some rather unique features I've not seen utilized (well) in other soundmods. But those deals with immersion rather than sound material, but material is good too.

2. SOWMod (can't remember if I used others). I remember there were sounds or features in here that I'd really like to see in VopSound.

ACE_SM I could just never enjoy. Since Enad's opinion is the complete opposite of mine, it just shows how individual and subjective choice of sound mod really is. But for me if I couldn't play on a server with the (full) Vop Sound (in combination with those other mods), and have ACE_SM forced upon me, I'd typically play with the editor instead. But, try ACE_SM and stick with it if you like it.

Didn't care much for CSM. It just sounded wrong in my ears and didn't have any of those cool features I crave for. Or, highly possible, I just have a reluctance to change something I have gotten so used to. If I went CSM from the start, I might feel different about it. So again, try it, and stick with it if you like it.

For OA:

Vop Sounds is in the works, and will be made compatible with the new reverb system (addon). You'll get high quality sounds, a (to me) important dampening system, distinguishable sounds, awesome replacement sounds for most other "not so important sounds" that you can't live without when you've first start noticing it, toned down sounds where they need to be, and beefed up in areas where they need to be but within reasonable levels unlike certain other mods whose philosophy seems to be "I need to make my sounds overpower everyone elses so people can appreciate them more" (or whatever the reason is). Top that off with support for the new reverb system. Could we ask for more? Yeah, I guess ACE support :D Is it perfect? No, it have some issues that most people will most likely never notice - and also, no sound mod could ever be perfect for everyone. We simply value different qualities and features differently.

@Enad: Simply lol'ing at other peoples hard work is not a good way to gain respect, not very constructive at all :o

One new soundmod that isnt posted here is Elias Sound 2 OA The one thing thats special about this is its environmental sounds to work with Operation Arrowhead (VERY VERY good).

Point is everyone has their own view, I have mixed them altogether as they are modular so you can do the same, grab them all, test them all, pick the bits you like and mix them up :)
