b00tsy 28 Posted July 1, 2010 Heya, Ok, so I downloaded AO last night on STEAM and when I wanted to play it for the first time just now I keep getting an error pop-up on startup that sais "bad serial code" :/ Just when I see the BIS logo the pop-up appears and ARMA AO shuts down. Well besides a tutorial voice that keeps talking... I can't get it to run! Any advise would be welcome, because I was really looking forward on finally playing it today!! http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4792/armaaoerror.png Also, when AO started up for the first time I got this install pop-up.. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/879/arma2107popup.jpg I accepted that and AO does not work now. I just tried to run ArmA2 and got the same install pop up. I declined it and ARmA2 runs fine. I have a feeling that when I accept the install I will get the same issue with ArmA2. Maybe Dwarden can explain whats going on here?
Placebo 29 Posted July 1, 2010 I believe he has already in the pinned Steam thread, did you try looking in there?

Placebo 29 Posted July 1, 2010 Yeah I searched that thread myself and got no hits so I had to merge in two separate threads to make sure the solution is findable in there. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1331413&highlight=bad+serial+number+setup#post1331413 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1331762#post1331762 Those two links should be the same issue with same solution. b00tsy 28 Posted July 1, 2010 Thanks Placebo. I started STEAM now as administrator (got a windows compatibility warning from steam and ignored it), verified game cache and it runs now. I will be playing AO all day :D
Thedeanster18 10 Posted July 2, 2010 This error really is pissing me off. I tried all these different ways to deal with it. I have used regedit. I have verified the game cache and restarted my computer. I have run steam as administrator. I have even reinstalled it once. Still nothing. Can someone please help me. I have been waiting 2 days for steam support to reply and nothing. I am in the same position that BOOtsy was in and very frustrated. Please someone help me
b00tsy 28 Posted July 2, 2010 I wrote it down in the wrong order. I first verified the game cache, then closed steam and restarted it with admin rights.

Jackson-TFS- 10 Posted August 2, 2010 I had the same problem, I restarted steam then it worked fine so anyone who hasn't yet fixed the problem I suggest you start with the simple methods of fixing it before getting into anything too drastic such as re-installing operation arrowhead countless times lmao!
