Warfare questions (Superpowers and War Welcome, primarily)

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I've been playing the Warfare game mode rather a lot recently with some friends over LAN. It's great fun, but there's very few of us so the AI has to do a lot of the work, and we need them to pad out our squads.

So, a few questions about the Warfare mode in general, and giving orders to the AI:

1: How do I get an engineer to repair a vehicle? A friend told me it was as simple as telling them to 'get in', to it (space, middle mouse when cursor is over the vehicle). However, this seems unlikely. Is there a way in particular to do it? I wanna steal some T-72s after we neutralise them!

2: In a similar vein to 1, how do I get a medic to heal me if I buy one after I've been shot? I achieved it by going into the map, then spacebaring on me and telling him to 'heal rifleman', but there must be a more streamlined way than that.

3: How do I get an AI to enter a vehicle in a position other than the driver's seat with the mouse? I can do it through the F-keys then the 'get in', command from the list that gives all nearby vehicles, but that is again very clunky. Is there a way to do it with the mouse?

4: A question more about the dynamics of Warfare. There's an "S" value that seems to be used exclusively to buy base buildings and such (light factory, etc.). What does the S stand for out of curiosity, and how exactly do you acquire it? The enemy always seems to have tanks long before we do, which is really rather annoying

5: Finally, can the enemy eventually build and use helipads? I've never seen it done, but we seem to have AA pods and AA specialists knocking around our bases, so that question is raised.

Thanks in advance for any (helpful) replies, and keep up the good work with Arma!

(must try 1.07..)

Edit: Oh, another question! Is it possible to get AI-manned artillery batteries (the built defensive structures, M119s or something) to fire for effect on a target in these maps? Or does that require custom scripting?

blast, another query. I've found that AT soldiers in my squad seem a bit hesitant to use their rocket launchers on vehicles. Do they switch automatically after I tell them to engage something, or is there some special stance change that I need to engage to get them to fire zee missiles?

well, I prefer the SMAW soldiers so zee rockets, but I love that line.

1. Not a clue

2. Select the medic, hit numpad del, and click yourself. Or, you can select him, hit 6, and see if it says to heal whatever class you are (for instance, if you are a team leader, if it says "Heal Team Leader")

3. Not that I've been made aware of

4. Supplies. They're acquired through taking and holding towns, and in the original warfare that you are playing I believe are delivered to your base via trucks. I'm a little sketchy on this, as I play exclusively Warfare BE now, a community warfare mission.

5. Not in vanilla Warfare AFAIK. They *will* do it in BE.

6. In BE, yes. Otherwise, they must have a direct line of fire, as the default AI doesn't know how to use indirect fire with default targeting orders.

7. Nope - they should do it on their own. If you're telling them to ENGAGE, then pray for the best. Usually, they're pretty good about that, unless they're under fire. They're not quite as ballsy as the player is, though, which is why they're so easily pinned and won't fire AT rounds.

I have a question regarding OA's Warfare. Is it possible to own your own artillery or has it been limited to the one you call in via the radio which costs 1000?

hi.. :)

A coupla' things...

1) Try the new Warfare in OA!! It appears to have vastly improved over the ArmaII versions in both gameplay and interface.

2) You can get your own squad AI to man an artillery piece and you can call in indirect fire, but other squads will not as mentioned.

3) Te repair/refuel/rearm using AI, you need to build a Repair Truck, and Ammo Supply Truck, and a Refuel Truck. Then bring them to the disabled asset.

4) I've seen AT soldiers do better with AT weapons when you tell them to "Stay Crouched"...

What you can do if you don't like "paying" for the fire mission is this... before starting the mission, one of the parameters sets how much you like to pay for it.. set this to None and you will have free fire missions.

Not sure if that is what you were trying to accomplish though...

Cheers,

EEM

Howdy folks,

I have been playing the vanilla superpowers on Arma 2 original and I have a few questions.

In regards to these questions is it possible to do any of this without mods or editing or running scripts?

What types of supports are available?, I know of artillery, but I was wondering if you could set up transport or air support?

I set up 6 M119's close to eachother and could call artillery support, by clicking support on the map screen and it puts the yellow circle for me to click to select the artillery my question is how far away from the orginal artillery will it assign a second circle, as in if I am playing with friends and someone uses the first one for fire support another person can select the second battery as the first one is busy.

In regards to the artillery, i have placed them next to a barracks so that I don't have use my own troops, how can you set up transport or air support to not use my ai either.

How do I use the AI FAC controller to call air strikes or is it only me that can use the laser marker.

I bought an A10 and selected him and said attack this tank but he didn't move even though he was part of my team, how do I get him to attack stuff.

is there a list of what all the infantry does, ie spotter, scout etc.

How come not all the units are available in superpowers ie MLRS etc.

any help would be appriecated

"limited warfare"

Limited Warfare, supplies run out after some time. So whatever assets you build will be all you have.

"Co-Op"

Co-Op, if no humans join the opposing team, they start with more resources, and money. Supposedly to make it a challenge.

A search on the ArmA² Wiki, for Warfare Manual, provides these answers.
