3d performance issue

My friend is having an issue with 3d performance, or so we think.

His account will not let him log in, so here is what he says...

"Iam having a problem with Arma 2 My graphics are screwing up every time i join a game it works for a couple of seconds and and then it goes random colors and all block and then i cant see my screen i tried messing around with the settings and i tried putting -winxp in properties but it didn't work here are some photos plz help me fix this problem so i can play this game i just bought it off steam thanks for anyone that can help me"

Specs? (especially graphics card and driver)

Does it crash aswell?

Do you have the photos?

Some info like this would be helpful to identiy the problem

Sorry, here is a pic of what he see's in game, we have tried messing with the 3d performance in-game, and it will fix one problem but then cause another. For instance it will fix building issues, but then other characters will lag out and look like blocks.

Hello iam the guy thats having these problems what happing is i fixed the blocky propblem by using cross fire but now iam having other problems is

i have ATI Redeon Hd 4800 series and i should be able to run graphics on high i have 2 of these cards both 512mb of memory and when i run it on anything i get problems like when i run it on low i get blocky problems why i run it on normal i get screen flashing problems when i get close to objects or people and when i run it on high iam really laggy and glitchy and some time my game crashes or all the time a black screen will come up saying receving... and then it stays like that i have tryed updating to patch 1.05 still the same i have tryed playing with the video memory setting evan putting it on high and defult still the main problem is that receving screen.. thanks for looking at this form and i hope you can help me beening going through pain for the past 3 days to figure this out

Also have a AMD Phenom II X4 940 Quad Core Prosseser

Have you tried the latest beta? Or first you can try to use -cpuCount=4 at the end of the startup parameter on the arma 2 shortcut. See if it helps, if not try the latest beta. There should be some fixes which gets rid of some of the problems you are experiencing.

Ok so i did both things just to see if it would work better and when i launch with beta in the Target line like the website told me to i get this error

Error compiling pixel shader PPSspecularAlpha:0

You need to downlaod the beta patch from here

http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

But you must have the game patched to 1.05 first.

Are you using ati's catalyst control centre?

What driver version are you using for the cards?

Do you have catalyst A.I. on or off when you run in crossfire?

There are more questions but you need to answer these first.

Iam running crossfire with Catalyst control center but i dont no how to check my drivers and i am running cataylst A.I with Cross fire
