meade95 0 Posted June 4, 2010 Why do AI controled Helicopters that are transporting AI infantry keep their lights on when flying at night?? How can I turn them off..... Kills the immersion factor (let alone gives them away) to my QRF elements... Now, the helicopter I fly in on at the start of the mission...never has its lights on......but any of the other AI helo's...flying in AI infantry do?? ADuke 1 Posted June 4, 2010 Try setting the helicopters behavior to "STEALTH" , they should turn the lights off then. I removed the lights from the helos in my pack for this very reason.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 4, 2010 Also check out setHit. With that you can destroy the lights. Haven't tried on helicopters yet, but it works great for the Grad21s I use in my current SP mission. And, yeah, the lack of light control in scripts can be extremely frustrating.

The problem I see with that is that not all the lights on aircraft (if any for that matter) can be destroyed. Actually, I'm pretty sure only the lights on ground vehicles can be destroyed. But yes, you would have to change the vehicle's behaviour to something that's not SAFE or CARELESS. Unfortunately that may (and probably will) change the way they follow waypoints if they see enemies.

Choppers have damage areas :- engine - windows - read rotor and so on Planes have one - Never understood why they don't have the same as choppers and vehicles.. AnimalMother92 10 Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Maybe try this: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Actions#LightOff unit action ["lightOff", targetVehicle] Or just set them to "Combat" Edited June 5, 2010 by AnimalMother92
Cloughy 0 Posted December 15, 2010 Maybe try this:http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Actions#LightOff unit action ["lightOff", targetVehicle] Or just set them to "Combat" My experience of that, is the AI just keep turning them back on, even if done with a loop they still flicker. Cheers GC
st_dux 26 Posted December 15, 2010 It would be nice if the mission editor were allowed to set this sort of behavior directly. I have never understood why there isn't a simple scripting command along the lines of "allowLights."
