how to set post-processing for multiplayer

Recommended Posts

I played a great deal of multiplayer with ArmA 1, but am just now getting set for MP in ArmA 2. As I play through the SP campaign, one thing I notice is that Post Processing really complicates sighting because of bloom and glare. Since this can be disabled, is it safe to assume most people (at least in PvP environment) just disable it for MP so as to not be disadvantaged against those who already have it disabled? I find I like most of the PP effects, but not all, so generally I've been leaving it on throughout the campaign.

I keep it at LOW wich will give a clear screen (no standard blur) but will have shine effects, tired effects (blur), suppression effects on you and optics effects wich i like. I actually like to get some disadvatage when it comes to those exact things. :)

Or turn it all off to skip it all.

I'm with Alex72, except I have it on high. But I do use the norotblur addon whenever a new version is released that works with the latest beta. I'm pretty low on performance already, so the blur is just making it look nuts.

But the rest is in high demand with me. For me gaming is not about "winning", but having the best experience possible. The more immersive it gets, the better. There are some effects (like ca for opctics and noise for nvgs) that should be forced on even for off settings imho.

Disabled or Very High

Oddly enough, Very high gives the best performance and result (over-glow suddenly disappear, blur is not overly done anymore, everything suddenly looks fine) over the other PP settings.

On heavy missions, or when I need every competitive avantage possible, I disable

Thanks for the replies. I have been leaving it on (Very High) during the campaign, but once in a while, it just seems wrong how much the brightness, whether glow or glare, is impairing my view. I even circle around to get the sun in a different position but it still seems excessive.

Either way, I assume some people in MP have it disabled which means they're not even having to deal with in the first place. I can see it now: I'm sitting there squinting, trying to get the angles just right so I can see more than just a wash of white trees, while there just laughing and shooting!

Overall I really like the PP effects and will probably keep them in MP unless it becomes a real problem.
