Boats and Overhead Roadway LOD

I am currently modeling an LPD-17 amphibious landing dock and have run across a little bit of a snag.

I would like to be able to deploy CRRCs or RHIBs from inside the well deck but I am unable to do so. The problem is that the option to "get in" to the boats is disabled when the boats are inside the well deck. I have determined that this issue is triggered when a roadway LOD is placed directly above the boat.

Vehicles, such as AAVs or LAVs, are not adversely affected and function properly. This is limited to all boats (even tested a fishing boat).

This poses a challenge since the flight deck is located directly above the well deck on this particular ship. I fear that this issue is inherent to the code of ARMA2 and that I am simply out of luck.

Is there a way to get around this issue? I have attempted to "attach" the CRRC to the ship without success.

Sadly not one that i've found. It the same issue that stopped us from releasing HMS Albion and Bulwark.

So how is your ship so different from my released FSF?

You have tested the FSF, yes?

The FSF has a Roadway LOD directly over the well containing 2 RHIB's, which can be entered from the well-deck using normal get-ins.

I'm sorry I dont have direct access to my model and config to help with further detail, I'm on holidays for another 2 weeks.

As I've mentioned before, only recall trouble when I added a PATHWAY lod. Hence, the FSF has no pathway lod from memory.

Actually no i havent. But i'll go take a look.

But im not sure it will make any difference I believe its the relative heights thats the issue. The heli deck on our own Albion class is 22m ASL. Anything over 5m and the getin option vanishes.

Which means the get in and getout points are inaccessable when you stand in the well deck. Exactly the same issue that Absolution_15th has.

OK, knowing some of the Engine querks I've had over the years, that "height" thing could well be the issue.

...... but then again I think getins work on the Kuznetov when your below deck (but its static).

If it is an unfixable Engine-problem, then a simple solution I've used before is addon UserAction points in the well area like "Get In Driver closest CRRC", "Get In Cargo closest CRRC" etc etc. Then have that trigger a script that simply searches for the nearest CRRC and places the unit inside.

Or similar actions and scripts can do even trickier things.

*edit* Never mind. A simple search led me to the "getincargo" command. I will try that to skirt this issue.

Well I guess I should have posted this months ago when I worked around the issue.

I used a scroll wheel command linked to a flagpole to activate a "MoveInCargo" action. I had initially used "GetInCargo" but that causes the game to crash consistently.

Next I built an area trigger that adds a scroll wheel action to teleport you out of the CRRC and back into the well deck thus eliminating the bug that causes you to warp to the highest point directly above you.

It's been tested quite a bit and although its a little amateur it functions exactly as intended. The CRRC acts like a mobile teleport point and I am sure you could script in a way to prevent that but it's not a problem for my realism unit.

Also Gnat, I did look at your FSF but my scripting abilities are not up to par with yours. I tried mimicking your get in and attach to scripts but my LPD does not have the right memory points to make it work and my attempts at making them failed. I thank you for the support you provided at Ofpec as it was invaluable.
