jasono 0 Posted May 24, 2010 Hey everyone, Just a question before I go diving into something.. There is a turret on a helicopter I have that works fine. This turret is actually a proxy model itself, and is just added into the helicopters p3d. Now, I want the light to be taken off the front of the helicopter and put onto the turret (so it points where it is facing). I know the selection for the light on the chopper, so the question is.. would it workout if I move that selection into the proxy? Does the original model loading the proxy automatically use that other selection as well? If no one knows the answer I'll probably get around to trying it anyway; just thought I would ask here first! :) Thanks.
dm 9 Posted May 24, 2010 No, proxies do not use selection names. For instance, you can hide an entire proxy model, but you cannot hide part of it. Same goes for the lights in this instance - the 2d light flare texture will not work (be hidden when the lights are off) if it is inside the proxy.
jasono 0 Posted May 24, 2010 Hmm, okay. Looks like I'll have to copy the proxys model into the actual helicopter model and just change the proxy selection to be defined for the whole turret. Thanks for the reply, saved me wasting a lot of time :)
