Which is the Best Feature you like about ARMA II

Recommended Posts

Which is the Best Feature you like about this game? I mean what makes you to play this game more & more.

I like ...

1)The the way a Soldier walks in this game.

2)The animation when Soldier gives an order like stop, go loud etc.

3)The way Soldier crawls.

4)The idea of commanding a whole unit or bunch of units.

5)The animation of Soldier shoots a APC or Tank.

6)The idea of Soldier being given a first aid bye his team mate

7)Shooting with Sniper Rifle.

These are the things that I can think of right now...what else you people like?

1. The scale of the game. Most games take place in a building, street or a city district at best. ArmA 2 takes place in an entire country!

2. Commanding other units. Rather than rushing into battle alone, you have your teammates, and they are not cannon-fodder for enemies to shoot at like in other games. They actually will save your virtual life in-game; they did for me on several occasions. The Call of Duty franchise claims "Nobody fights alone" as a punch-line and advertising slogan. ArmA 2 doesn't claim it; it lives it.

3. Lot of cool toys and gadgets to choose from. Most games only have a few weapons to choose from (e.g. Grand Theft Auto series and Left 4 Dead series). ArmA 2 has much more to choose from, and even vehicles, ships and aircraft in the mix! One can fight as a foot soldier, pilot, coxswain, or tanker.

4. The modding community. The Arma 2 modding community has to be one of the largest and best I have ever seen for a computer game. The only other franchise I can think of that is even remotely close to it has got to be The Sims franchise.

OP those are more of details than features.

Features would be things like the dynamic modules, editor, Halo/HAHO jumping, Warfare etc.

I like the game as a whole theres nothing that can compete against it at the moment, But theres always room for improvement and bug hunting.

A2 is unprecedented and playing the game at early hours of the morning is WOW Goregous to say the least....

Now if only PVP was funner to play, then my gosh I would have to sell this useless console!

Speaking of cool toys OA is going to make this game twice as Epic, IR lasers and FLIR firefights FOR THE EPIC WIN!

When OA comes out my favorite feature will be either FLIR and/or UAVs. For now, I'd say it's modability is my favorite feature. :)

The freedom and endless possibilities I can do in this game and the fact that although the AI could be better in-terms of using cover and entering buildings as groups, it can still adapt to most situations and provide a realistic enemy in any mission, whether the scenario is very simple or quite complex.

(Unlike COD AI which can't do anything without being fed some scripts and a pre-defined path to follow; and not care about dying, but only knowing that its sole purpose is to provide a few flashes on the player's screen for increased immersion...)

The power of the editor, the fact that someone can come along and create an entirely new and unique game mode and pack it into a single mission file. Without this, the game would've died long ago.

The muthafukkin community. You guys! All the people that spend their time making addons, scripts, maps and modules.

Of course, Arma2 being an open game, helps a lot but you make this game what it is.

Imagine if there was no active community in this game.

You'd have Chernarus, Utes and the basic Opfor/BLuefor package and.. well.. a lot of unrealized potential.

As someone said before. BI makes the engine, the community makes the game.

And don't get me wrong, Arma is a great game all by it's self. Huge, sandboxy and pretty well made.

Amen... but i want it to be even more powerful, the editor is also my favourite part of the game. alongside wf, acm and som... well the whole module system!

OA? tbh i dnt give a toss about flir and ir, id prefer improved modules any day, i am excited about the town generator, and the actual maps themselves

Flexibility of use. OK you can't really use it as a flight simulator ala Falcon 4, and you can't really use it as a room-to-room indoor arena ala SWAT, but anything in between you can do, and do better than just about any other game.

Fidelity. It's not player centric, so what you set up in the editor happens whether you're there to witness it or not. That might sound like a lot of wasted CPU cycles to some people, why simulate something the player won't actually see? But that's fidelity for you, it's happening, you know it's happening, and there might be consequences that affect you at some point. Also, it's nice to come across a battlefield that's been quiet for a long while before you got there, and with a blood splatter addon, you can start to work out what happened.

Replayability. With the various randomisation techniques you can use in the editor, there's no reason for the same scenario to play out the same each time, unless you want it to :) Even as a mission editor, I can make missions that I have no idea what's going to happen in, with no idea of the exact makeup of the opposing units, or even my own units come to that, I can randomise that to force me to make different decisions each play.

The genius of other people's minds. The amount, type and variability of community made addons means that you can tailor your game to your own unique blend of abilities and equipments, suited to your own idea of great gameplay.

The mission editor and the user-made content are the reasons why I love this game so much. There's always something new to do.

Best feature of Arma2 imo is that it takes from OFP and Arma and improves, the ability to reload while one the move, the ability to hold breath now makes it slightly possible to hit a target if your arms are damaged.

Importance to details such as running too much, leaning, climbing over small obstacles and into tighter spaces, weapons such as the mark 19 do not rock vehicles, more variety in the armory, chicken missions were fun.

But it's best feature is of course its versatility alongside the editor, the ability to take something and bump it down to silly such as an explosive orange or nuclear fruit, as well as the ability to bump something up to a more simulative level is what makes the engine so unique.

Best single feature? Hard to say, impossible even without being unfair to all those other features I love.

The feeling I sometimes get as I get sucked into the game.Last night I was doing the village sweep mission and by accident fired off a round right at start by the cows.My teammate screams out "get ready for a fight!!!".All of a sudden a sniper starts taking pop shots at us after hearing my mistake and we run for the wooded area to hide and rethink our next move.Just the way it looks as your running, the trees, the sounds of breathing etc all play into making it great for me.

Ha I had the same experience last night in my Operation Nightfall skirmish.

Yep its good stuff.Feature wise I think its the huge map. There is something about running to a wooded area for cover and knowing that the woods go on and on.When I know of a maps boundaries it ruins the world effect.I also think having all the land in Arma as islands is complete brilliance!

The Developer is the best thing about ArmA II. The whole BI team is great! And following a very close second, is the community.
