Arma-2-Guru 55 Posted May 16, 2010 I don't like the FOV in ArmA II and was wondering if someone could post a good, realistic FOV setting for me to change in the arma2profile file, thanks in advance. Oh yeah, I have a 22" monitor running 1680x1050 resolution, just in case that factors into anything.
Whoatherefatty 10 Posted May 16, 2010 Just multiply both numbers by the same value ie 1.2 then 1.3 etc until you find what you like.
Arma-2-Guru 55 Posted May 16, 2010 Is there one you use which is good? I don't feel like changing the profile, testing then going back, tweaking then testing etc. Do you have a decent one ready made and tested?
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted May 16, 2010 So, take a backup of your profile :) I haven't touched my FOV value, I'm happy with what it is. But "realistic FOV"? That would be the angle given from your head to your monitor, typically in the 30°-45° range - your monitor is now the "realistic" viewport into the game world. Playable? Hardly. You can then say that this FOV reflects the zoomed in value, so while zoomed in you would have the realistic FOV, and zoomed out it would be whatever it would be. Playable? Still not likely, but I haven't checked what values comes out of it. So, any playable FOV value will be individual but not really in the realistic realm. Well, that's my idea about "realistic FOV" anyways, feel free to ignore it or even shout at me for it :D
Alex72 1 Posted May 16, 2010 You need some peripheral vision wich you get with a wider FOV. This is used in games as otherwise you get what CG explains above - you see nothing but forward as your monitor will be the viewport to your real vision. And that means like looking through a window - you have to move your head all the time to see whats right, left, up and down. You wont see whats hitting you 90% of the time. :)
Steakslim 1 Posted May 16, 2010 Anyone have documentation on the fov values? Like what's the min and max values allowed?
Wolfstriked 11 Posted May 17, 2010 fovTop=0.5025; --> default was 0.75 fovLeft=0.89333302; --> default was 1.333333 Posted by Ron533 in this thread http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1558304 I was thinking I wanted wider FOV and found that I get unimmersed into game with it.When I see weird arms and exxagerated weapon position it draws my attention.By chance I installed Ron's %33 percent reduced FOV settings.I now feel like I am in the game.I have a much harder time playing since the iron sight takes up more room onscreen but I just feel more in tune with it.I have a standard monitor so a widescreen LCD would look way better. Can someone point me how to mod .PBO files so I can make a falseview mod??;)
