Laqueesha 474 Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) May 9 is the day for the annual parade in Red Square in Moscow, Russia celebrating the 65th anniversary since the end of World War II. The parade this year will be bigger and better than the previous years, with even British and American troops parading alongside their Russian counterparts. There'll be T-34 tanks in the parade too. :D Pictures from rehersals: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1272624/The-Russian-bearskins-British-Guards-parade-Red-Square-time.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Pretty interesting to see British and American troops parading in Red Square. Several years ago, that would've been unthinkable. Den pobedy! ;) Edited May 6, 2010 by Laqueesha
maturin 12 Posted May 6, 2010 Did the entire text of that article really need to be about the outrage of showing a portrait of a commander in chief during a parade commemorating the war he won? Churchill was sort of a jerk(note: not making comparisons), let's cut him out too. Stalin's legacy is rather more problematic in London than it is in Moscow. Baff1 0 Posted May 6, 2010 Londoners all love that Stalin had a Cockney accent. Stalin's legacy was a problem for the guy who came after him, which is when his history got re-written. I noticed they had their new nukes on show. Big bastards!
krzychuzokecia 700 Posted May 8, 2010 The parade will take place on May 9 (tommorrow) which is russian Day of Victory. And not only Brits and Americans will parade but also soldiers from Representation Company of Polish Army - this is very suprising, because soviet attack on Poland (September 17 1939, part of Ribbentrop-Molotov pact) in Russia is known not as soviet introduction to World War II but as 'liberation of western Ukraine'. In Russia World War II is known as Great Patriotic War and it's beginnig is dated on June 22 1941. Not to mention that the name 'Day of Victory' is somehow ironic because on the same day, we can say, started another - Cold - war. Cold War was also an effect of Soviet-British-American talks in Yalta where this three countries divided the world in two parts: communist Eastern Block, and democratic Western Europe with US. Yalta conference and it's resolutions were supposed to prevent another war - now after 65 years we can see how stupid were the leaders of US, UK and USSR, or how big liars there were... It is sad to say so, but it is true. Nevertheless, russian parade is always big event and if somebody is interested in RF military it is worth watching! sudayev 27 Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) More than 10,500 Russian soldiers will march for the first time alongside troops from the United States, Poland, France and Britain in a larger-than-life parade to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany this weekend It will be great to see all allies from all WW2 fronts marching together. Edit: Great parade as always. I'm glad there were no pictures of Stalin and other prominent symbols of communist era, something that was a 'must' in all previous parades at the Red Square.
