Binkowski's WIP thread

Look at what I found: TOP SECRET!

yes, that ilbe is supposed to be woodland marpat.

Just to reiterate, the USMC's ILBE pack(s) only comes in the woodland MARPAT pattern, so yes, that is very much indeed accurate.

Looks like the UVs on the rear side are a bit mcfucked. You might try lifting a few vertices in the UV to sort that stretching thar.

by looking at it in the pic it seems to be too heavily defined to spine1/spine or maybe spine2 but i might take a look at it if bink hasn't changed them since I last edited them?

I find that for the majority of the torso, weighing them in bands (excepting the underarm portions) works well until you hit the shoulders.

damn weighing.. Stalker, i haven't touched the weighing since you send me back my base model man. however, i do have some new models (with kneepads and holsters) but, that can all be fixed.

yeah for Spine and Spine1 it usually works fine, for other spine definitions generally they are more subtle towards the side of the torso (so chest and back are move heavily defined) the shoulders start mixing in left/rightarm and left/rightshoulder definitions so yeah can be a bit more awkward.

there's probably little wrong, those animations do odd things with almost any model for me.

Yeah even BIS' stuff shows some stretching, even "normal" positions sometimes.

it would also be pretty motivating if you gave some of the soldiers an EGA marking on the kevlar or helmet, I love seeing the EGA on my uniform and the USMC addons in ArmA1 had EGA as well, so beautiful

AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BLOUSING THE SOLDIERS BOOTS, I PERSONALLY CANNOT STAND SEEING THE SOLDIER WITH BOOTS UNBLOUSED. if a CO were to see that those boys would be in serious trouble unless they have been stranded for a month and just flat out worn to the dirt but fresh out the carrier or base and well rested, NO way

Agree with post above. Units look great.

One thing though, what are the regulations on gloves? Are they required or what?

From what I heard they are required to wear gloves now.

Pretty much, yeah. So is eye protection (sunglasses, goggles, etc).

just to clarify: The uv-maps of the torso are pretty much perfect for such a complex shape. There is definitely no uv distortion on the back.

The distortion probably comes from improper weighting/rigging

We don't add stuff like that to our kevlars, the EGA is already a part of the camo pattern any way. It's spread throughout our uniforms, along with the larger embroidered one over our heart, and can only be seen if you really look for the small emblems. Also, get over the blousing, some guys do go on patrol without their boots bloused, personal preference is allowed depending on who is in charge.

He stated that he will add gloves for all units, but will not add glasses to all units as it'll cause clipping units with player-selected glasses.

No problem. Haven't we all? Just one thing, if you do want all the units to have glasses, you can add them using a description file. ;)
