Some optics/weapons reference pics (links heavy)

Recommended Posts

Previously messaged RobertHammer and sr5tactical (by YouTube) about this, but... here's a lot of pics of some "AR-type" weapons, optics, and a non-vertical foregrip (VFG) for anyone who might want to create a weapon for SOF or PMC personnel, or who might want to create models for mini red dots (MRD). It's all links, to prevent hotlinking and to save your 56k's. :P

OPTICS

Some pics of the old ACOG-Docter combo (since replaced by the ACOG-RMR combo):

An article

Official overhead-rear view (replace "9" with 3 through 8 for different view angles)

ACOG album

Docter Sight album

Same idea, but not Docter -- it's Insight Technologies' own Mini Red Dot Sight (MRDS)

Here's the FNP-45 pistol with suppressor and red dot capability, including the Docter and Trijicon's new RMR; two "behind the optic" pictures are here for the RMR.

The Docter Sight II Plus, on a Glock without iron sights.

Looking through the FERFRANS Fast Acquisition Sight (FAS)

Burris Optics' FastFire II, mounted atop the XTR-14 (a 1x-4x-24mm scope) and a view through the shotgun-oriented SpeedBead system. (Personally I can't see any difference except the mount.)

The Aimpoint Micro T-1, its size supposedly solving IRL the opacity issue with ArmA 2 red dots. For alternate visual views, see

video of the H-1 (lacks the T-1's NVD-compatible settings, less submersible). Several more pics are in this Aimpoint album, and here's a bottom view including a mount, plus a two right side views on an AR-15 SBR with unspecified mount, plus left view, and overhead 3/4 rear showing a mount. I think some of the other T-1 pics are also here with Knight's Armament Company quick-detach mount for it, and I'm guessing that this is the only "looking through" pic.

A set of LaRue mounts for the H-1, including this hopefully useful chart of the optic's height relative to the weapon with each mount, for modeling purposes. Also, here's an interesting "around the ACOG" mount by LaRue Tactical.

WEAPONS

For the HK417, here's three barrel lengths, albeit somewhat thrown off by the middle-length one having a suppressor, and the new style buttstock pad. I call 'em "convex," HKParts.net calls them E1, and has a concave version. The 417 magazine now resembles that of the G36.

And for the HK416, check out this new HK416 design with a reportedly 9.3" barrel and, thanks to the shortened buffer tube, a G3/MP5-style telescoping stock instead of a M4-type stock.

Check out this UMP45 with "M4-type" stock. Yes, it folds, and here's what the hinge looks like.

A short-barreled M-14 "cut up" ("EBR")... because why not? And "EBR" with ACOG/mini red dot and M203? YES. Or, barring that, "scout style" forward-mounted EOtech.

In addition to the M110, Knight's Armament Co. has their own PDW in 6x35mm; the subsequent fifteen pictures show differing views of it and the Micro T-1, including "under coat" concealment. I chose this pic series for help getting the weapon's relative size, but unfortunately I don't have both guys' height.

Magpul Personal Defense Rifle (PDR), an interesting bullpup 5.56mm concept that unfortunately was put on the backburner when the US military didn't show interest.

's a Magpul rep demonstrating a nonfunctioning prop with the "Compact" (PDR-C) lower receiver reminiscent of FN's F2000 and P90 (and, it seems, fire selection method); this could be swapped for a "Direct" (PDR-D) lower receiver with pistol grip, removable MP5K-style foregrip, and ambidextrous fire selector/mag release. For game purposes its barrel length would be 10.5-12.5 inches (for purposes of in-game ballistics), while it would use the same standard magazines as the M16/M4 variants, an on-the-fly "switchable" ejection system (so for once the "towards the center" ejection animation could be accurate :D), and it could support different calibers. For ACE purposes, weight would theoretically be 3-4 lb, overall length 18-20 inches.

Possible future design for an in-game SBR? Here's its official page.

The FAL short-barreled rifle (SBR)... stop laughing!

Here's the Colt Sub-Compact Weapon (SCW), with folding/telescoping stock, thanks to a short buffer tube. This and the seven pics after it are good further left views, as are this and its subsequent five, followed by a right view. Here's a pair of right side views, a pair of folded (Bryan William Jones' photo) views, and it firing (B.W. Jones). (For those who're gun-nuttier than me, the upper is based off of Colt's Model 6940 "Advanced Law Enforcement Carbine".) EDIT:

, though not of the stock being adjusted.

I'm obsessed with SBRs? Especially suppressed ones ?Whyever would you say that...

... oh, wait.

A suppressed 1911 with "T-1/H-1"... because if it doesn't exist in ArmA 2, I want it to.

As a miscellaneous, the Magpul Angled Fore Grip (AFG); official pics with different view angles here.

Credit to Chen "SMGLee" Lee for the photos hosted at Imageevent, and any you see with his watermark at the other links.

Should probably be moved to the "Addon Research Topic 2".

This info could definitely help alot of people out.

I'll link to this from there, at least.
Jesus, it's the socom 16 in EBR form
I've had a soft spot in my heart for the "SOCOM 16" type of "EBR"... visually, anyway. Wouldn't want to lug it around personally.

Edited the OP to include a link to a video of the Colt Sub-Compact Weapon (SCW) being fired, with a Micro T-1 mounted, added a link to Magpul's official AFG page with more pictures from different angles.
