Operation Eagles-Talon (Sp/Coop)

Hi Guys. Here's another mission from myself, should take you a couple of hours I hope, 5-6 playable units so good for SP or Coop. In short your an SF team doing all the dirty work while the US Invasion of Chernarus is happening around you. Implamented few scripts.

Objectives:

Eject and Land at Rally-Point Charlie

Destroy 3 AA's on Air strip

Link up with Stryker Unit and take Story Sobor

Reach O.P. and use map to call in AirStrike

Help US strucks through 'I.e.d.' Valley

With all elements air and land take control of City to Complete

Changes + fixes:

This vanilla version has a few improvments from the previous:

*No addons needed just vanilla ArmA 2 patched

*Final objective moved to smaller town for better fps on lower end rigs

*one new AI script added

*Ied alley more reliable

*Readme

Excellent, an ACE2 mission that playable in SP! Thank you! I needed something to take my mind off of mission making and actually play the game.

error message miss some files

i have already addon acex ace core cba + pla

but is not the last update

Hi yer, this mission was created yesterday evening after the update came out, I'll Update the post to let others know, if u update to the latest version all should be fine.

Will it cause any problems if I remove the BIS First Aid System and use the ACE2 wound module instead? I like it much more than the BIS system.

It should not cause issue's what i did was just sync the 3 ace medical moduels to the soldiers, so id thought ace would be working, but in any case yer go ahead and change to you preferd preff, shouldnt cause any issue's as far as i know. (Only thing may be that the moduel is called in the mission sqm and its not there when u edit it, if that happens just delete it from the mission sqm and job's a good'n, if worse comes to worse i can just do an edit).

The ACE2 wound system won't work without the AE Wound System Module. The 3 you have sync'd to the units are the BIS First Aid System Modules. I don't think the ACE2 Med stuff(in the crate) will work with out the ACE2 Module on the map. I just removed the 3 BIS modules from the map and added the ACE2 Module and it seems to work just fine.

One more quick thing.

The KC-130J doesn't have enough seats for the team. You need to switch it to the C-130J. I think the one you are using is the plane ACE2 added for the Aerial Refueling Module.

Unless I accidentally changed it with out knowing but I don't think I did.

Mission Updated to Version 2!

Fixed Troops spawning on the ground at start.

Added Ace wounding system

Removed BIS wounding system

We played the mission today on a dedicated and we really enjoyed it! Thanks for the mission!

We had some issues though:

1. Compass didn't work

2. GPS didn't work

Suggestions:

1. A little bit better of a briefing or some tasks so we better understand what we were supposed to do? In particular, the convoy escort.

2. Have the Obj's turn from red to green when you complete them.

Kickass Stuff:

1. The IED alley and the car bombs were brilliant, best I have seen yet!

Saw the two issue's you guys pointed out and also ran into them myself, I will try to change and get them to work along with your suggestions, and i'll put a detailed briefing in the diary as well in Eagles-Talon part 2!

I tried to create a version myself but now the editor won't load the mission, but it is somewhat playable as you can start up by simply hitting "play" instead of "edit" as the C-130J flys around and gets shot out until I tell my squad to "action" then select "eject" out. Just so you can take a look at it Jezaa, here's my attempt to de-addon your mission.

I also removed the ace parachutes since every soldier by default comes with one, and left the code as this:

init="this moveinCargo plane; grp_drop1 = group this";

And the other Parachute codes spots as:

init="this moveinCargo plane";

I also changed the ace bandage case to the antidote case. I'm thinking that didn't do much, but the parachute changes are concerning to me and may be the reason for the editor not loading the mission.

Hey I found out it had something to do with the ommision of the Ace No Stamina lines of code. I got a semi-vanilla version working in the editor and is playable ingame.

I've only run into a few issues such as:

Ace No Stamina not being found, but that's obvious since I don't have Ace.

Ace Parachute not found, ditto.

There are no markers on the map or triggers to let you know when to eject, and where to go after you do. I'm not for sure if this is due to the lack of having Ace (I'm not for sure if Ace has its own specific marker images) which would cause them not to show up.

Now this one is a little odd, it says the OPFOR cannot patrol a building due to game bug. Unfortunately it doesn't tell you where this building is or which soldier is having the issue. :(

Lol, I got your PMs! Yeah, well I can't get past the first part of taking out both anti-air tanks, I keep dying, lol!

If it's not the guys patroling in the truck, it's some patrol in the trees next to the 2nd anti-air tank. I got really far last night, by disabling the ai so it was just me using the DMR Marksman rifle, two smaw Anti-armor rockets and a satchel charge and I got up to that point then got ambushed before I get past the entrance to the base.

One thing I have noticed is the that when it first starts out, every 3rd or so time I restart the mission, about 1 to 2 bots, and sometimes myself get killed or are heavily injured when our parachutes hits the trees or something like that.

Have you had this happen? I know it;s basically a luck of the draw, especially in a real combat situation, but I'm wondering if the C130 is too low tot he trees we parachute over, but then again having the C130 up too high would be too long of a parachute ride down.

Oh and Soldier #6 usually ends up within the chainlink fence of the enemy airbase.

The rest are scattered along until we regroup. Which is awesome because it's so cool to have me and my friends all end up in different places when we get out of the plane then have rendezvous together. I really like that!

I really enjoy this mission and hope to win it soon, lol. My friend, Dave and I are are about ready to get in and play right now! Hoorah!

Ah cheers feedback, yeah sorry for the pm spammings kept forgeting things lol.

As for Para drop yea its luck of the draw really, thought of putting the plane higher, however dont think you have control over the shoots so may end up ontop of the AA's. Remember you can use the airstrike unlimited amount of times, however the planes will not be deleted, so there fly around high ish altitude around that area.
