Hmm, could be a corrupt patch file. Try redownloading the patch, if it doesn't help - reinstall ArmA II and then apply the newly redownloaded patch.

I did.(redownload the patch and reinstall the game) - no go

the next patch should be v1.3 yes?(because i thought maybe i downloaded the wrong one)

Is it only ArmA II, without Operation Arrowhead - just to make sure it's not ArmA II Combined Operations? 1.02 is a very old version, try 1.00 to 1.09, http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=510%3Aarma-2-patch-1-00-to-1〈=en

Then after patching to 1.09, you need the latest, which is 1.11 for ArmA II - http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=777%3Aarma2-patch-1〈=en

1.00 to 1.09 (Which includes all versions in between)

1.05 to 1.11 (Includes 1.09)

Oh, yeah, you'll be able to join all vanilla 1.11 ArmA II servers, though most people run ArmA II + Operation Arrowhead expansion together nowadays. Did the those patches work?

Example of a server, where you'll be able to play - http://arma2.swec.se/server/data/191769 Although, most are running ArmA II Combined Operations 1.62, which includes the "Operation Arrowhead" expansion pack - http://arma2.swec.se/server/list

Once patched to 1.11, your next best step would be to purchase Operation Arrowhead. :)

Something fishy is going on, could be a RAM problem, since a lot of data is moved into RAM memory before being applied to the actual data files. Like I said, 1.02 is a very old version, you'd be better off purchasing ArmA II Combined Operations, which includes Operation Arrowhead and Takistani island that everyone plays nowadays online. :)

This problem usually occurs, when a patch becomes corrupted during download/copying; you didn't get any error messages during the original ArmA II installation, did you? A Moderator or a Dev more knowledgeable could pinpoint that specific error code for you.

You wouldn't be buying it "again", since you don't have Operation Arrowhead expansion, which is essential to online play nowadays. Here's a non-Steam version, https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-combined-operations

Yes it works fine with Win7. I run it on the 32bit not 64bit, only because I get better performance from the 32bit..:)
