OPERATION CALDERA v 1.0

Short introduction: The mission takes place in the northern Chernarus. Russian convoys carrying a lot of ammunition and weapons to the cities and airports. Your name is Joe Wright - a specialist in infiltration - and you need to get information on delivery dates and routes. Previous operations have failed. Therefore, your trip is quite fraught with risk. Do not get detected! Avoid the patrols and return to headquarters with valuable documents.

Sometimes mission won't start in Scenario menu. Exit game and run it from Mission folder (you must link PBO files with ArmA 2).

Am I supposed to start this mission with no weapons? I cannot kill anyone without a gun. I didn't see one at the compound that I was supposed to go to.

Haha yah like I said ejay you should deff let people know in the mission brief to get weapons at the brief and that you have to eliminate the troops at base.

I tried playing without a weapon (no choice) and couldn't find one at the base and I've looked all over the place while evading the 2 guards patrolling the perimeter. Where do I get the gun? I cannot strangle these people and steal one as Arma isn't coded that way :-)

Why does every mission that sounds promising always have something that makes me give up on it? Some missions are great but you cant create waypoint markers, others crash, others are too dark, other dont support AI team mates. Sorry about my rant but I want a good mission!! :-)

Select "Units" then "Gear" in briefing phase.

I'm quite confused about gamers who don't read even briefing which contain important info.

I read the part about weapon selection but didn't know what that meant. Maybe add more instructions for idiots like me. I found it now thanks. And for the record, I always read the briefing. I didn't think to click on units since I knew I was the only player in the game and usually clicking on units doesn't really do anything in other missions. I"m good now thanks. Now I'm going to put a cap in those guards asses that I snuck up on 10 times unarmed :-)

BTW, how did you set up the lighting for the mission? Its night time yet I can still see fairly well. I really like it. In some missions that take place at night, you cannot see crap. Is the moon out or something? Stars?

If the enemy has taken some potshots at you on the way to meeting the first contact, they will follow you and shoot you multiple times during the cutscene. I walked off the skull ventilation once I regained control and escape behind the fence.

I looked in Eagle Wing minicampaign which had almost similar lighting in first mission. I've change it a little (broghtness adjusted) so you can run wthout NV googles or put them only when neccesary.

no weapons is no problem at start

in copound crawl to truck and take frag grenades.

kill the guards and take the AK.

This mission was nice, even though im not a big fan of these one man stealth/sneaking mission... i like more big scale operations with lots of troops and so on...

Voice acting was nice bonus too :)

Will there be a sequel/more missions?

I just completed this mission. Very nice. The patrols and guards were nicely placed. It was realistic. I had lots of fun shooting out the lights in the city with the weapons caches and sneaking around killing the guards. The silenced weapons worked quite well. I was able to pick off guards without alerting the other guards.

Due to a reformat of my pc I havent had the chance to reinstal arma 2 and all my 10gb of addons yet. When i do i will download this and see what its like. I always love playing missions to hear my voice as one of the characters

Good solid "kiss" mission (keep it simple stupid), good flow to events, well placed patrols and had a nice atmosphere,

Extraction chopper seems to be sitting still at the extraction point, with an enemy base just over the ridge, was there at the beginning of the mission... shouldn't it be flying in?

(I did the mission with ACE2 and seemed to work fine.)

You can actually make nights where you can actually see something on certain days of the month if the weather is clear enough. What's funny though is that it is actually bright for a few days but then in 1 day it suddenly goes extremely dark.

For me sometimes playing a night like this is kind of nervewracking because I don't know if the enemy can see me as easily as I can see them in moonlight this bright. You could probably get by without NVG on this mission, but I didn't wanna take chances.

You've got satchels in briefing (GEAR). Read the briefing, then rearm yourself. Before the mission.
