Darkhorse 1-6 16 Posted March 13, 2010 It's still alive? That's very good news. As for the jammers, what i meant was I don't think he should add something specifically for this mod. Maybe add a jammer model to the vehicle (depending on what it looks like & if it's visible to us) but the function of jamming IEDs should be part of this mod. Sending one man to "check out that vehicle" then hearing over comms RUN!!! We've got it working so far up to vest types with a pretty cool way of adding new vest options, which should make this script very modular. Only downside of this is that the script cannot be used by AI, but this script is created for private use inititally so it still meets our brief. This script will be ACE required (due to crater creation and weapon types) but this can easily be converted to be non-ace once completed with a few minor edits. As for the MRAP, support will be based on whether GOL accepts the mod selection, but in essence this is simple to add into the scripts, just checking if the MRAP is within X distance of an IED(s) and setting some sort of variable in that IED(s) to make it undetonatable by remote. In terms of trigger methods, pressure plate, mechanical (trip wire) and other RF based remote devices like car alarm remote (with appropriate ECM to counterbalance) and don't forget trusty old command wire detonation, batteries required. Timers are still fairly prevalent, so personally I'd like to see them included. Plenty of opportunity for duds/fu's on the part of the bombers, though it sounds like you've already got that in hand. You've got vests covered, backpacks and holdall's would be nice additions. For charges, mortar rounds are another easy addition to what you have already. Gas cylinders and fuel were popular accelerators and I think some of those containers are already in game. Some general crap and clutter to plant them in would be great, rubbish, petrol cans, oil cans, carrier bags, rat packs, that sort of thing - the dead animals and suspended/placed mines might be novel too. VBIED's - maybe just limit speed of cars/trucks to simulate the weight? Would be cool if low suspension or new tyres could be done by some of the modellers. Mirrors for vehicle searches anyone? DieAngel 0 Posted August 1, 2010 A note about the radio jammers, keep in mind that it's possible to create a detonator that will arm when it receive it's signal (incoming cellphone call, or radiowave) and will detonate when the signal is lost/on hangup. Radio jammers should be used with care if setting off the explosive prematurely is absolutely out of question (if the bomb has been placed in a busy public place for example, using a radio jammer would put civilians at risk) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
rexehuk 16 Posted August 11, 2010 OK, the script is back in full swing! We have been replanning for a while but have finished a good part of that tonight. A short summary is here The mod aims to create a new dynamic way to use explosives in missions by creating a two way system between an explosive and the victim, adding the ability to avoid/disarm the bombs compared to the coventional methods where a victim is lost without choice. This will be achieved by creating an easy to use interface that gives clients the abiliy to create an explosive vest or carry an explosive device to a roadside or vehicle (VBIED). The devices will not just work, methods will be built in for failure rates etc, and possibilities of detonation on arming of certain devices to prevent 100% success rates :p. We will be using default arma 2 objects, then maybe expanding to support for the Arma 2 IED objects addon, unless someone makes us something better ;).
