US Army HMMWV program is dead.

Recommended Posts

This truly makes 2010 the end of an era for both the civilian and military versions of the Hummer. The U.S. Army announced earlier this month that it would no longer order Humvees, and would instead turn to the armored MRAPs that have proven more resistant to roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the Army still plans to keep its existing Humvees in service, according to DOD Buzz -http://www.popsci.com/cars/article/2010-02/end-era-gm-will-close-hummer-brand

I hope that BI has started on making that MRAP model...

Why? Because some incompetent in D.C. thinks a top heavy truck that has a tendency to burn as often as any other vehicle is a good idea? As you said, the HMMWV will still be in service.

Interesting. I've always wondered why BIS put such wimpy Humvees in the vanilla game, surely up-armored ones like NZX's would make more sense. The standard ones are pretty much made of tin-foil. :p

Well ya, most are the 1025's.

And we still have a ton of unarmored HMMWV.

I dont think that really covers just how many HMMWV the US has.

"Gigatons of them" would probably be more accurate...

Crap, my country's MD just bought 12 new M1025s for operations in Afghanistan... I somehow don't see the point of using 1025s in combat situations...

They were designed to carry Americans and all their fat friends to the drive-thru at McDonalds and bringing you as close to the counter/booth as possible.

I'm JK. :D

Moved to Offtopic as I fail to see what this has to do with A2 suggestions.

And: US Army != US Marines which is what A2 is about after all.

At least you won't see shiny black stretched-MRAPs cruising around any time soon.

Damn, I was routing for the Moon Buggy -

Primary advantages - insurgents will be too confused by it's appearance to know that they need to shoot at it.

China has also pulled out of buying the plant.

If they had done that, it would have been the most masterful piece of military sabotage the Americans ever managed to pull off :p
