scout 0 Posted April 10, 2002 all the humm-vee's and m-151 i saw in this game are the closed ones. i know humm-vee has a turrent for heavy wepon (M-2, MK-19 or ATGM launcher), it has a TOW version and it has adittional GPMG. the M-151 has M-2 and GPMG in its open version. another thing. is there an option to "turn in/out" from the fighters section in M-113? i saw u havent got to the option to use personal weapon while on board a vehicle. Guest Posted April 10, 2002 Yeah, that's right. In the humvees in Black Hawk Down for examle, they've got the 0.5 guns or somethins with twin barrels. Al I have posted earlier (it disappeared somehow), it would be nice to move around on vehicles (jeeps, boats and the chinook) and even be able to fire from them, for example snipe out of a UH-60 or add two miniguns to it. That would be cool.
LordZach 0 Posted April 10, 2002 you could easily add a minigun to the uh-60 but the 2nd one is impossible with the current engine there is a script at http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com to add a m2 to the humvee but it drives slow for some reason an easy way to make it so you can fire it (lame but effective if you like going head on) is in the init field type this addmagazine "browning"; this addweapon "browning" thatl add a m2 with 500 rounds that you fire (but can't aim)
USSoldier11B 0 Posted April 10, 2002 I would like to see the HMMWV's have turrets as well. Especially with a Mk 19 Mod 3, hell of alot of fire power, especially against light infantry.
Frizbee 0 Posted April 11, 2002 There are all sorts of weapons that can be affixed to a Hum-vee. There are .50 machine guns. TOW missile launchers, Grenade Launchers.. Heck, I've even seen a Hum-vee fitted with a Quad-barrel Stinger Missile system for air-defence.
MHSJROTTCADET 0 Posted April 11, 2002 that last one you referred to really isn't a HUMVEE, sure it's fitted on the HUMVEE frame, but it's a very different vehicle, it's the Avenger Air Defense System. And it has 8 stinger tubes and 2 50. cal machine guns, but unlike a regular humvee, the Avenger system cannot be removed, as it is a permanant modification, and for those who might want to see it in OFP, it would be soo unrealistic, as it did not come into service until after the gulf war. MHSJROTTCADET 0 Posted April 11, 2002 actually your both wrong The AH-64 has been around since 1985, and it's first operational use was the the assualt on the columbian government of nicurga (sp?) The AH-64D Longbow (which is NOT featured ingame) upgrade began testing in 1998. The only way I can see you got 1996 was from the Release of Longbow by Janes. Intruder 0 Posted April 11, 2002 Yeah, the AH-64A went into production in 1983: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/ah-64.htm Edit: Woops, didn't see your post Erex
DeathShrimp 0 Posted April 11, 2002 Humvee's with .50cals / M60s / Mk19s would be absolutely awesome... As for the timeline, I don't think it really matters if an HMMWV Avenger or other post-1985 vehicle was added to OFP. Only the campaign relies on the 1985 era - the single missions can be whatever year the mission maker wants.
suchey 0 Posted April 11, 2002 agreed...I dont give a shit if theres something in the game that wasnt techincally around until 1990 or something like that...the timeframe really only applies to the campaigne game...multiplay and custom missions are wide open as to timeframe....if you dont want to use items that werent available in the campaign timeframe, then dont download user missions that use them. As for me...cast my vote for any new equipment we can get our hands on!!
KDF 0 Posted April 12, 2002 The first combat use of the Apache was in Panama in 1989 (Operation "just cause")..Noriega is the name the earlier poster was thinking of.

Markov 0 Posted April 12, 2002 I know some people think that OFP is 1985. End of Story. That's okay, long time OFP fans (me) can just accept that until the tools are out, people will beleive its 1985 only. Anyway, it is obvious that WE (the collective OFP fans) want whatever is too our taste. Some people want pre-1895, some want totally 2002+ modern warfare, with equal passion. I could not sincerely ask BIS to make 2002 modern units, because what they have done thus far is in such excellent order, making 1985 militarily pure. But as soon as the mod makers release approved (with current system) modifications, the confusion about OFP being a 1985 sim, rather than an open game for any time/theme, will end. AntiPasta 0 Posted April 13, 2002 well the "addweapon"-stuff in the init-field didn't work for me! Nothing appeared in the upper left corner and I couldn't shoot. However, when I pressed the switch weapon-button once, I couldn't honk the horn anymore, and by pressing it once more the horn worked again, so it's like i'm able to add a weapon but I can't control it, like it just takes up space. HELP!
