enad 11 Posted March 15, 2010 Do poppie plants really have that large red flower/leaf on the top? I always thought they looks similar to wheat but with some black accents.

bushlurker 45 Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) I've been making thistles... :D I guess poppies aren't much different... I'll have a go and see what I can come up with..... Arb... Would you prefer poppyclutter? (easy to place - easy(ish) on FPS - no viewblock), or an individually placeable poppy plant? (more complex model - less good FPS if placed in vast quantities - but DOES (allegedly) viewblock the AI)... Also... Mostly "in flower"?, or mostly just "heads" - at the milking stage...? =kct=blackmamba 44 Posted March 15, 2010 poppies come in different colours purple, pink, white, red.. just like flowers :) but i agree they look a little to big. the flower is normaly almost as big as a fist, thats allready a big flower. http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2008/12/23/afganmos_468x305_xHzs9_3868.jpg
darkfenix100 0 Posted March 15, 2010 just a test with a few textures http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x272/darkfenix19/f.jpg i have nothing but admeration for people who can make more detailed models and maps please give me any feedback as it wil help arb out also
Pathy 0 Posted March 15, 2010 Looks good mate, a good start for sure. Maybe try and add abit of natural variation into the height of the wall. The textures look great, but could benefit from normal and specular mapping. All in all, a good effort though, definately looks promising.
=kct=blackmamba 44 Posted March 15, 2010 i simply dont have time for mapping/modelling anymore. did it once for americas army, only thing i can tell it is realy time consuming and pretty addictive too. but mapping and moddeling for ARMA 2 is something else i need to learn sooo much.. and at the other hand i also got a family now they need quality time too, thats something i dont have alot. so now im enjoying all the beautifull addons made by some wonders of nature. only thing i can say is keep on going u guys :)

B Seeing this i got a strange idea an what to ask if this can work. What about make a Box around the poppy field witn View Block Poppy plants and inside withe poppyclutter? Can it work? Will have around the field a view block plant and yet less FPS eater if using a mix o both. Or make the field with a square around it with view block and inside 2 files of this plant and fill rest of field with clutterplants.

Stagler 39 Posted March 15, 2010 Make the wall texture a little more loamy, and i like the rugged looking tops but make it a little less jagged, more like bumps an stuff on the tops of the walls like this http://blogs.crikey.com.au/culture-mulcher/files/2009/11/3guttenfeld.jpg
darkfenix100 0 Posted March 15, 2010 well hopefully i am going to make diffrent varients for arb but i shall take into effect what you said standby

Try PMing somebody from the Project Reality mod. I'm sure they would help ya,(i hope) considering their map has walls that you can blows holes in. rksl-rock 1300 Posted March 15, 2010 I like. anyone know if there is away of blowing a hole in a wall?like... http://www.eliteukforces.info/images/weapons/lasm.jpg http://waterflows.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c438653ef01156f96d9da970c-800wi Also looking at the colour of the wall in the photo your texture colour is spot on. There are several ways: 1) Create an indestructible wall with the hole already in place. Place it in Visitor3. Then plug the hole with a destructible wall in vis3. People will get to know that that area is breachable in no time and its guaranteed to work every time. If you need help with it, get my MSN off DarkFenix and I'll walk you through it all. (im stuck in work tonight so i cant get on msn but i will be on tomorrow) 2) Same as above but using destructible proxies. Also works quite well if done right. 3) Script it. This is the overly complicated method imo. But you can get some spectacular effects but its been suggested that there might be MP issues re the scripts if not done properly. I've used methods 1 and 2 in the past to quite good effect. It works with doors and other stuff too but the down side is you need to make custom objects obviously. As good as anything i've seen ingame, wall wise. Just needs the bump mapping on it and it'll be golden!
