Citnarf 10 Posted February 16, 2010 Sorry if a thread like this has been made before, i did try searching but didn't get any results. I have decided to build a new PC as mine doesn't run this game well at all, and i thought it might be a good idea for everyone to post their specs and the FPS they get in the benchmarks so that i can get a good idea of which hardware configs run this game the best. Heres mine: Processor: Q6600 @ 2.4ghz RAM: 2gb Video: 8800GT 512mb OS: Vista 32 bit HDD: 5200RPM 500gb Bench1: 22fps Bench2: 8fps All my settings are set to normal with 1280x1024 res and post processing off. Bulldogs 10 Posted February 16, 2010 Q9400 @ 3ghz 4GB Ram ATI 5850 10 HDD's of various shapes and sizes (2 x IDE, 8 x SATA, no SSD's) Windows 7 32bit 1920x1080 (100% fillrate) All settings Very High, AA disabled, PP on high, 2000 view distance Bench 1 = 35 fps Bench 2 = 18 fps Should add that lowering the graphics settings bumps up bench 1 but not bench 2 (bench 2 is CPU limited to 18 fps for me, overclocking to 3.4ghz raises it to 21 fps, but too much heat on the CPU side)

forteh 11 Posted February 17, 2010 Processor: A64x2 4400+ @ 2.55ghz RAM: 3gb DDR Video: 9600GT 512mb OS: XP 32 bit HDD: 7200RPM 160gb (partitioned into 20 and 140 gig, A2 installed onto the 140gb), 7200RPM 40gb, 5400RPM 8gb (pagefile drive) Bench1: 25fps Bench2: 9fps All settings normal apart from FSAA, AF and PP disabled, 1600x1200 resolution, very high shadows and view distance at 1680. Upgrading the 9600gt in the next week so will be interesting to see how it affects performance :)
dmarkwick 261 Posted February 17, 2010 AMD Athlon 64x2 4800+, 280GTX 1GB, 2GB RAM, Audigy 2. 1280x1024 rendered at 1600x1280, fsaa 2, NO postFX, Windowed, viewdistance 5km. I get great performance when roaming free on an empty island, and I get good performance when playing mild-mid complex missions. But I can really chug when things get quite complex. Luckily for me, I'm the sort who gets absorbed by whats happening instead of how fast it's displaying ;)
nuggetz 0 Posted February 18, 2010 To the original poster, are those specs your "New" PC or current? My PC is just like the one you listed and the game runs ok with view distance set to maybe 1000 and in game settings set to low. But again, I'm running this game at 2560x1600. I'm upgrading as soon as I get my tax refund and hope to at least get something like 40FPS full time if possible at this resolution. I'd like to see people post more of their system specs and h/w. Leon86 13 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) q6600 running at 400x7=2800 Mhz 8800gtx, driver version 191.07 6GB ram 500GB 7200rpm harddisk win7x64 enterprise 3d (and interface) resolution: 1920x1200 view distance: 2500 shadows: disabled postprocessing: disabled AA: disabled terrain detail: very low rest of settings on normal bench1: 46 fps bench2: 15 fps (although sometimes 16 or 14) oddly enough lowering the resolution doesnt improve bench1 but does improve bench2 somewhat (to 18 fps) so I guess in my case bench1 is cpu limited and bench2 gpu limited  edit: done some more testing, enabling aa doesn't affect bench2 but it does decrease performance in bench1, in which case the opposite is true. :j: Edited February 18, 2010 by Leon86
sig 10 Posted February 18, 2010 9800GT XP Home SP3 3GB RAM, Everything on high. I've had to tweak the config file to get a fine line and I feel I can get more out of it.
Citnarf 10 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for the replies everyone, How do these specs sound? Core i7 920, will overclock for sure 6gb RAM, not sure which brand, any suggestions? GTX260, will most likely upgrade to a GTX 295 when i can afford it, or maybe one of those new ATI 5xxx series cards? Windows 7 64bit As for a power supply and motherboard, i have no idea, what would be best? To the original poster, are those specs your "New" PC or current? sig 10 Posted February 19, 2010 If you got deep pockets then you'll be fine with that lot. A good motherboard, a good graphic card, processor and a Li anli case. Don't waste you money on Win7, its not up to much.
